You talk as if Afghanistan was a piece of land your government or perhaps grand mother owned in another part of the world. We left Russia no choice but to invade. Since the breakup of the Soviet Union we have surrounded Russia with missiles and military bases after promising not to. We overthrew a democratically elected president in Ukraine and installed our puppet government . The Ukrainian government shelled the Donbass region for years ,killing thousands of Russian speaking civilians. Putin could either fight or watch Russia slowly be destroyed. I lived through the Cuban missile crisis. We could not permit nuclear missiles to be placed in Cuba so why should Putin allow the current situation to occur?

That is the real truth, Russia knew that the US was arming ZELENSKI and that he was involved in " GAIN OF FUNCTION RESERCH " with the intention of producing biological weapons, that would be like Mexico doing the same thing and the US just letting it happen. The woman testifying admitted that it something that was going on in Ukraine a year ago in a previous hearing.
How would Russia be destroyed? They have all the resources in the world. And Ukraine was in the top ten of most corrupt countries in the world between African countries being very poor with the worst Russian puppets in power. Offcourse you had shelling in the Donbass, from both sides because militia's seized towns being backed up by the Russians. Ukranians didnt just started killing their own people, some incidents happened during Maidan but that only became bigger because of Russia. Yes Americans can be assholes and go against interests of other countries. But at least you can protest a war there, Russia has been a political failed state, always look at yourself first. Russia started the agression with acts, they knew in the Budapest memorandum the US and UK agreed on protecting Ukraine's sovereignity. Russia launched a full scale invasion, not just to secure the Donbass. If Ukraine would have joined Nato or the European union was really unlikely (they couldnt for a 100% when Russia took Crimea) Russia could have still developped and become the new Dubai with everybody rich on oil money. The regime might have been threatened, but to invade or destroy Russia? You think the US would have thrown a dirty bomb and then now they wont?
I totally agree! And it would be so easy to just let Ukraine be neutral. NATO should have never been extended after the cold war. It is an obvious threat towards Russia and China and of course these countries react to it.
And what are the goals on US side? Do they really want to topple Putin and have the country with the most atomic warheads in the world in turmoil (again)? This is bound to cause massive problems. Imagine Putin loses power and some crazy jihadist manages to buy an atomic bomb, put it on a boat and sail into New York...
