Michael Douglass, Ken Takakura, Andy Garcia, & Yusaku Matsuda [who died of cancer before the film was released; and was said to be in excruciating pain everyday during the shooting of this film, but, persevered thru until the film was complete], they ALL did a fabulous job of acting in this film. If you have not seen this film please do so. Good action, good storyline, great sub plots, and great acting and a fabulous song by Greg Allman.

I was very young when my father brought VHF with this movie fm USA (he is seafarer) At that time I did not understand all the deepest of this song but since that time this is my one of the favorite movie and the best soundtrack of course!!! The young guy who played Sato, the villain, was very sick and knew this would be his last film. I think he put everything into it - He just dripped malevolence, more so than most bad guys a foot taller and three times his weight. Planets aligned for this movie.
