Even so, I hid my illness from the people around me and bet on this movie more than my life. Yusaku Matsuda, he was a great actor. Thirty-three years after his death, he is still popular in Japan as a legendary actor. I wanted as many Black Rain fans around the world to know about this.

I yearn for the eighties where we all led a simpler life where actors and musicians held an element of mystic . I sometimes transport myself back to the eighties through music and film and always come back smiling . Oh how I miss those days 😢

Brilliant, underrated movie. Ridley Scott is a genius. SPOILERS AHEAD: The most memorable moment for me is the scene where after Charlie is slain, Nick tries to “liberate some funds” rather than turning it in to the department, and Mas stops him with the line “Nick-san. He (referring to Charlie) was a police officer.” (Implying that stealing would dishonor Charlie’s memory). Amazingly poignant value-oriented writing. The script was written by Craig Bolotin and Warren Lewis.
Did my school exams the year that this was released. Instead of joining my friends and getting drunk to celebrate that the exams were over I went to see this instead. Knew nothing about it but it was easily one of the best movies I ever saw. No doubt about it you tube and all other social media have destroyed the element of surprise from the movie goers.

One of my all time favourite Michael Douglas movies. Although he made this before the hit War of the Roses movie about divorce (also in 1989) this movie came out before that movie. Somewhat dated but still a classic along with Falling Down which he made 3 years later.

I disagree. The mid to late 90s had some solid movies too. I think when it hit the 2000s, the quality of film rapidly dropped.
