The first ball always in the bag is a spare ball. I think at this point, no spare ball is more legendary than the white dot from Columbia 300. It’s weird to say a spare ball is legendary, but its also the longest running production of all the 7 brands, so it must be doing something right.
Moving on, The next ball in the bag is going to be urethane. This one is was the easiest choice without question. The purple hammer is arguably the best ball in bowling, so bringing it with to Reno is a no brainer. It’s almost always in play, especially on the left, and has the best continuation through pins of any urethane on the market.
Then we start getting into the difficult decisions with reactives. I’ll once again use the rule of thumb I of having both a shiny and dull symmetrical option, and a shiny and dull asymmetrical option. Remember, this is not a It’s not a perfect science, but it gets us close.
Jumping to the most hook potential, my dull asym choice is the Envy Tour from Hammer. This piece wow’d me from the first time it hit the lane. It’s somehow both a benchmark option and a top of the line choice, a rare combination created by the limited core numbers on an exceptionally strong core. I have found it looks better with some lane shine, so please don’t hammer the surface down until your on the competition lanes and know what you’re in for.
Jumping to the shiny asym, this was really difficult as I really wanted to pick the 3D offset attack, but ultimately I went with the Polaris hybrid. It’s just an exceptional blend of easy length with control downlane, and even though it doesn’t open up the lane as well as the 3D offset attack does, It plays the track area better, so it’ll be easier to go to early and not trash your pair for your team.
Moving to our dull symmetrical option, this was where the most overlap existed. There’s the knock out bruiser, the dark web, the GB2, the GB4, the purple reactive, the cuda powercor, the crypto, the rattler, the stealth, the legion solid, and ultimately the one I chose, the Verge Solid. I’ve had a few chances to throw this piece on tougher conditions and it’s reliable, handles surface well, controls the midlane all while not quitting through pins. It’s the option that stands out in a crowd of choices, and not just because its bright orange.
And lastly, the shiny symmetrical option. This one was actually kind of easy even though there are again, a ton of options. When I have to open the lane up, the ball I would want in my hand is the Melee Jab Carbon. It’s super clean and uses that really strong core to get off the spot hard and fast. Being able to float through the friction we generate as a team is imperative to putting up that last big game in team, and the Melee Jab Carbon does that exceptionally well.
If you’re headed out to Reno and bringing some Brunswick balls with, let me know what they are in the comments! - Sport
Diggin' this series. In my opinion this would be a nice nightmare to have with all those choices. Cannot argue with your choices. Nice
It was a lot. Most of it was just going with my gut though and I think it turned out alright.
I was looking at something similar to this, but with different A-syms. Radical Innovator Solid and Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid.
I can dig it.
I love the Brunswick Family of Brands.
My current 6 ball arsenal is all BoB:
Hell raiser blase
Defender Hybrid
Knock out B&B
Kinetic Black Ice
Closer Pearl
T-zone
I also have a 2 ball urethane bag with a PH and a Black widow pink urethane. I'm not flying with my equipment any time soon so 8 balls works for me at the moment on pretty much any pattern.
I can dig it!
taking an Ebonite Choice Solid this year as it worked well in Team last year for me.
That’s a name I haven’t heard in a while!
The Brunswick Melee Jab Carbon is one of my favorite balls. Ended up having 2 of them. Defender Hybrid may be stronger on the core but the Melee Jab Carbon performs better for me on any conditions I am throwing. Underrated ball? Brunswick Attitude! Gee, it does wonders for me on oily lanes after taking it down to 3000 dull-it hooks, continues to truck down the pins and backends are ridiculous!
Jab Carbon is a great piece. Versatile, strong and not afraid to go sideways when I want it too. Haven't tried the attitude, but I'm glad you've had good luck with it!
@@bowlersparadise2255 Give the Attitude a try. I went with 45x4x20 because of how I roll. My PSO recommended me this ball as the first out of the bag and hold off the Jab Carbon until the 2nd game and finish off strong with Hammer Vibe Ocean Blue at the last game. My average went up 25 pins per game. Big difference.
I have a variety of older balls to bring to Reno. Crypto, Hustle Camo, Mythic Jackal, C4 Ordnance
and spare ball.
I kind of like that combination actually!
@@bowlersparadise2255 Would I have to go to each brand's booth to have the right suggested surface be put on each ball.
Currently my bags consist of:
Purple Hammer Thane
Envy Tour
Obsession Tour
Knockout Bruiser
Kinetic Platinum
Any opinion on a 6th ball ? (I use urethane as my spare ball when traveling)
3d Offset attack, Envision Pearl, Katana Assault.
black widow vis-a-ball for my spare
That works too!
Interesting, not one HK22 ball
Honestly, I didn’t even think about that.
Probably a mistake to be honest. Could easily sub the melee for the 3D attack
As someone with a lower rev rate who primarily favors actual Brunswick equipment, this video was not at all helpful to me. Lol Still appreciate the info, though.
Ok…
