- StarTech produces many different peripherals and accessories for computers. This docking station would be a great fit for people using laptops with PD charging & Thunderbolt connection. You would be able to connect all of the peripherals with a single cable!

I enjoy your channel, and Sorry for the questions but what is the name of the large computer screen in this video, and would you recommend it, also how do you like Startech products?
The monitor is MSI Prestige PS341WU. I have used Startech products a lot, and always found them to be reliable.
Hi Joseph. Good review. Our company might need something like this when we return to the office because we are moving to the HP Elitebook 830 series and they don’t have docking pins so our docking stations won’t be any good. I’m going to add this to the listing docks and port replicators we need to test. Thanks.
nice!
Dell WD19TB? I think it looks better. (currently using number of their older TB16 docks)
Hi, I’m just wondering if I connect my macbook with cable to the port that do not have power supply (other 10gbps), will it still work?
I have not tested MacBooks, but as long as it can charge 60w PD, It should be able to.
Great review. Have you tested whether this actually works with dual external 4k displays? Thanks
Unfortunately, I have not, since I don't have two 4k screens. That was just on the specs.
so Russell from Up grew up to be a youtube tech reviewer.. noice!
Lol, okay. That's a first.
can i connect this docking station to a usb-c 3.2 gen 2 with PD ?
i have the asus ROG Zephyrus G14 GA401 and it doesn't have a thunderbolt 3 port.
i need it for ethernet and usb + usb-c devices and meybe one monitor.
I think you can. But you may see some display limitations. Not 100% sure though.
Hello, Does this dock support 2 thunderbolt monitor? Or it must be 1 USB-C + 1 HDMI?
It supports two monitors via two displayports.
Hi Joseph, I am currently using two 27 inch apple thunderbolt displays, and a LG Ultra gear 850G monitor (display port or hdmi) monitors. I am looking for a docking station that will allow me to connect all three monitors to my 2016 MacBook pro. Could you suggest a dock that would work for me.
Hi, I don't know the specs of those monitors, but it all depends on whether one Thunderbolt port can push all three at full resolution and refresh rate. I also have seen laptops simply not connecting to the second or third monitor due to its configuration.
@@JosephKim All the 3 monitors are 2500 x 1440 resolution. The apple monitors are thunderbolt 2 and currently, I am using the tb2 - tb3 adapter to connect to my mac. The LG monitor connects via display port or HDMI.
@@pareshrr seems like a lot of conversations. I can't say for sure..
I just love you videos, just work on camera focusing.
Thank you! I realised it isn't focusing too well as it focus on my face. Thanks for pointing it out!
Can this work with laptops that doesn’t have thunderbolt
My laptop rog strix scar 2 doesn't have thunder bolt dose this adapter work with egpu?
Probably not. You need Thunderbolt for eGPU
@@JosephKim thank you 😭😩
I got this thing for free and not sure how to use it. So I connect my 2 monitors to the port, but what cable do I use to connect the port to the video card? I'm confused.
You are supposed to connect to Thunderbolt port. If you are using desktop, you might not have it?
@@JosephKim Is this thing just meant for laptop/macbooks?
does the display ports supports the high refresh rates of the latest monitors available in the market?
I think it caps at 4k@60hz. So, if it requires more bandwidth, it would not support it.
do you have any alternative where i can maximize the refresh rates on my monitors by only using a laptop?
@@jaypaulreyes7739 what's the monitors max resolution/refresh rate?
Do you think it is compatible with the latest ipad pro
Not sure. But I don't think ipad is Thunderbolt compatible?
Does your laptop have USB-C DP port or USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port?
That specific one had TB3 port.
does this support 144hz dual display?
Depends on the resolution. There is maximum bandwidth.
atleast 1080p ? thunderbolt 4. my hdmi port is busted so my only option on my laptop is type c / thunderbolt. hoping you can answer my query. :)
@@jongskie777 yeah, it should be able to.
@@JosephKim thank you! I'll trust your word :D
@@jongskie777 I mean, I have not tested but 144hz 1080p isn't so hard to run. Just make sure you are using a good cable.
I can't two screens((
:(
thunderbolt 3 and usb c are not the same. i had to learn the hard way
Haha, yep! So did I. Also, there is one for display, Power Delivery, and now Thunderbolt 4!
@@JosephKim, 😣😣😣😣😣 arrrrrgh.... Im gonna have to write this all done. I haven't even looked into TB4.. Lol
