I think what was discussed is very essential especially when more people are working from home these days and the need for a better screen or ports sometimes is forgotten when considering the technology being used. It was cool to see the SD card port.

@@stefolou Hey Stephanie, you can get all sorts of docks similar to what the video talked about for the Mac. I have 3 different docks since I have 3 laptops and two of the laptops connect to my dock hub so they can connect with my additional screens.
You can purchase the docks from Office Max/Office Depot, Best Buy, Amazon. I got mine direct from Targus and my other dock from Sabert. The neat thing about these docks is that they are universal and work for Macs or PC/Windows

Been loving mine since day 1. I'm using it with a 16" MacBook Pro and for those wondering: it does keep its charge nicely even though the caldigit provides "only" 87 watts of power compared to the 96w Apple charger that's included with the machine. I need to add that it's used mostly for music production so I'm barely using the graphics card

I have the CalDigit TS3 Plus connected to my MBP and it has been having problems since day one. I recently upgraded the firmware and it has been worse. Losing DP connection randomly. Removed and reinsert the thunderbolt connection fixes it, but the network goes out. Unplugged the thunderbolt connector and reconnected fixes the network. This can happen every few hours, but at least once a day.

I have a 5 yr old Thinkpad X1 (no USC C charging, requires special cable), a more recent HP elitebook from work and two HDMI-able monitors. Would this dock work with either laptop, used at different times? I want to be able to use one dock and just swap the laptop. I did try using a Lenovo USB 3.0 Ultra Dock, but it didn't seem to like the HP and didn't pass through Night Light settings from Windows, so was unusable for me. Now, I am just using separate HDMI cables but this is messy and annoying. Is there a solution to this or is my Thinkpad just too old?

    Two years or so experience.
1- price. This is a computer with software doing an intelligent switch. But I've not seen firmware updates. With the 40Mbps TB3 it seems to represent good value.
2- cute form factor. But a really hefty power supply.
3- compatibility. The Apple MacOS world seems happy. I am in the WinPC zone and have serious doubts. This thang with its hefty power supply can charge up to 90W over the TB3 link but the $2,000 Win notebook needs more and its BIOS etc could not properly deal with this. Turned a new notebook into DOA. SInce, RJ-45 doesn't Ethernet anymore.
Bought WinPC brand TB3 dock and this now lost its DP port.
4- why want this? As alternative to desktop. Hoped to pull out 1 TB3 cable, take into photo studio (no cables except tether - shoot into 10 Mbps flash drive) or same on location. Work on raw files while traveling, plug in dock in post-office (where I post process on big screen, with real mouse and keyboard).
    5- satisfied? No, disappointed.
Revived desktop PC with new motherboard and CPU with TB3 and RAID and more RAM and better GPU.
The notebook with 16GB RAM and discrete NVIDIA does not have what is needed for fast Lightroom post work - tethering works fine though - when using hardware acceleration, even.
The Z490/10700K desktop with 32GB RAM and GTX1080Ti (11GB video RAM) are blazingly fast.
The dock now will serve as notebook touch base with its own Ethernet, monitor, keyboard and mouse for administrative work or on the road for tethetered shoots.
The desktop drives 2 calibrated Eizo 27" 4K monitors so Lightroom with UI controls is on one and a full screen enlargement of the shot at hand is on the other. I could run Lightroom on one and the Timespy benchmark on the other and even get decent results. RAM morale: 16+4 doesn't cut it, 32+11 works fine.
Thunderbolt 3 morale: maybe v4 will bring what we thought we already bought today.

I actually like using my macbook screen when editing photos/color grading video because theres nothing like it however, specs wise you want a monitor that has "IPS"

Based on your great view, I placed my order. Item arrived, could not use it power not getting to the unit. Maybe a faulty power supply or the unit. Send back next day. Did not expect to pay top dollar for a malfunction dock. Caldigit NEVER AGAIN
