@@ZakiQutteineh You don't need a 2016 macbook pro you can use the Apple thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 adapter and use it as intended even with a 2011 macbook pro. Been loving mine since day 1. I'm using it with a 16" MacBook Pro and for those wondering: it does keep its charge nicely even though the caldigit provides "only" 87 watts of power compared to the 96w Apple charger that's included with the machine. I need to add that it's used mostly for music production so I'm barely using the graphics card
Omar, watch out using your MacBook connected to the CalDigit dock with the lid closed. I used to do that with my MBP 2017 and had to replace the screen panel twice before I stopped doing it. Looks like the heat from the body affects the screen.
You guys always got useful and helpful content I will try this one has i been following you'll recommendation to start my channel now I upload content every week on Saturday

its so odd how everything is quickly switching to USBC/thunderbolt, yet we dont have any USBC hubs to give us more USBC ports, like a 1 port to 4 port! no one at all has one
That's cool if you are a Mac user. I use my Dell laptop exactly the same way. The dongle I use makes it simpler to connect the laptop doesn't have quite all the inputs (audio out or in, etc) and still have to plug those in separately. Is there a PC version of this dock?? Many thanks!!
Good review - I've had this hub for a few months and it's impressive and sooo useful. HOWEVER...make sure you have the latest firmware if using with a Mac, it was prone to rebooting the laptop for no reason every now and again.
How come it doesn't have an HDMI port? My current monitor has an HDMI so is my goal is to only have 1 cable going to my laptop for easy disconnects on the go, would be out of lucks? Do most monitors these days not use an HDMI?
I have the CalDigit TS3 Plus connected to my MBP and it has been having problems since day one. I recently upgraded the firmware and it has been worse. Losing DP connection randomly. Removed and reinsert the thunderbolt connection fixes it, but the network goes out. Unplugged the thunderbolt connector and reconnected fixes the network. This can happen every few hours, but at least once a day.
I have this for my editing PC, it’s great to have the connectivity on my desk instead of having to reach the back of my case on the floor under my desk. Thunderbolt 3 is faaaast like crazy.
Oh wow! Been waiting for a product like this! Right now I have two doggles connected to my laptop and the mess is so cumbersome. Thank you for making this video!
About time, a product that would just provide the necessary ports needed at an amazing quality to price ratio. Definitely will be considering this for my wife's Macbook and whenever I upgrade my Mid-2014 15" Retina Macbook Pro. God Bless!
Only one DisplayPort port? That better support dual displays with a spliiter or daisy chain. Even then, for $225 plus it should have two video ports IMO.
Will this work with a 2012 MacBook Pro? What’s the best way to connect a 2012 MacBook Pro? Moving out into a new apartment in January and getting everything now so it’s all ready!
What do I think of this dock? Well I considered buying it but bought a WAVLINK instead, but the WAVLINK couldn't output to 2 DP at the same time - so that got returned and I am using a Lenovo TB3 dock now.
Nice work here..this video and couple others helped me decide to get one for my M1 Mac mini..love the expansion , speed and convenience it brings to my desk.
Would love to see a video with various monitor choices and resolution tests. I think not all "4k" screens are alike....some bamboozlement going on a lot of times.
I just bought the CalDigit TS3 Plus. My connected hard drives stay on (light flashing and drive spinning) 24/7. Shouldn't the drives shut down when I turn off my laptop (MacBook Pro 2018) or is my unit defective?

I got a ASUS 2 in 1 laptop that recently stopped working and the screen broke and snapped off, do you think I might be able to change out the battery and use this device with an external monitor and the bottom half of my laptop 💻
I contacted the company and they say it only works for hosts with Thunderbolt ports, not compatible with USB 3.1 Gen2 (USB-C) port. So it's useless on my MSI GE72MVR 7RG Apache Pro
Hi, thanks for a helpful review. Wonder if you can offer any advice though. I have a 5 yr old Thinkpad X1 (no USC C charging, requires special cable), a more recent HP elitebook from work and two HDMI-able monitors. Would this dock work with either laptop, used at different times? I want to be able to use one dock and just swap the laptop. I did try using a Lenovo USB 3.0 Ultra Dock, but it didn't seem to like the HP and didn't pass through Night Light settings from Windows, so was unusable for me. Now, I am just using separate HDMI cables but this is messy and annoying. Is there a solution to this or is my Thinkpad just too old?
