Sinigang na baboy is different from nilagang baboy. Sinigang has tamarind and taste sour. While nilagang baboy taste like pork stew. With lettuce. Sinigang na manok is different from tinolang manok. Sinigang na manok has tamarind and sour. While tinola, has ginger and papaya. Just saying. I enjoyed watching your videos. Mr smith really loves the soup.

The authentic way of making sinigang is using broth of tamarind or bilimbi (locally known as kamias). Best sinigang is Sinigang na salmon and shrimp. I know you will like it as you love seafood. Hahaha.
But nowadays, most filipino uses the sinigang mix which cost $0.5. Try putting radish and taro. It's one of the best vegetable to put in sinigang!

The menu says sinampalukan/tinola for the chicken. It's different from sinigang but I guess it was sinampalukan because it has a sour taste similar to sinigang due to the use of tamarind(sampalok).

Just got confused with the Pork Sinigang (Nilagang Baboy) and Chicken Sinigang (Tinolang Manok) caption because Sinigang, Nilaga and Tinola are different kinds of Filipino Cuisine. But still love your videos! Looking forward to seeing you taste another Filipino Foods like: Kare-Kare, Caldereta, Menudo and one of Filipino's unique cuisines like Dinuguan, Bopis, Laing and Papaitan! i think chicken sinigang is "sinampalukang manok" our sour soup chicken. "sinampalukan" means "soured, derived from sampalok (tamarind).
I don't actually know where in the Philippines it originated from, but it definitely is an alternative from pork/beef/shrimp/fish sinigang.
It's nice to see you enjoy it coz I know the dish is familiar since there is a korean dish almost similar to it.

Hi bros.. Sinigang is sour soup from a tamarind fruit / green mango / watermelon or etc etc.. There's alot of sour fruits in the Philippines specially unrippe.
Tinola is more from chicken meat, (boiled chicken). Nilaga on the other hand (boiled beef or pork meat cooked for hours until tender). It's savory / umami taste, (hint of bit salty soup).
What ever the meat are, pork, beef, chicken or seafood you can try to cook sinigang or tinola/nilaga.

    For viewers may get confused:
Sinigang - is a type of Filipino sour soup, commonly used is tamarind, which are common in the Philippines. You can use pork, beef, chicken, fish, prawns/shrimps, etc with specific vegetables. You'll encounter different ways of cooking it in every region in the Philippines.
Chicken Sinigang - is a Filipino chicken sour soup, which some Filipinos called "Sinampalukang Manok".
"Tinolang Manok" - is a Filipino version of chicken soup.
"Nilagang Baboy" - is a Filipino version of pork soup.
Some Filipinos add fish sauce for unique saltiness & chili for spiciness.
P.S. "Tinolang Manok" & "Nilagang Baboy" have similarities to Korean soups. I forgot what those two dishes called. 😊
