It’s unusual for Filipinos to eat these food items straight from the can. We usually cook them, or at least sauté with onion and garlic. And liver “spread” is usually used as a spread. You spread it over a sliced bread.

Most of all Canned foods from the Philippines are ready to Eat...
But some Filipinos, still cook them, because of metality if the food you buy isnt seen cooked, then it must be raw...
Philippine government, already passed law that these canned foods should be a "ready to eat" foods, for it will be an essential part of the People's lives...
If ever a calamity hits, and nowhere to get fresh cooked foods, then canned foods are ready to eat...
      No need to cook them...

For the sisig, sardines and corned beef, they taste INFINITELY better when sauted with garlic and/or onions first. Actually we usually heat these canned goods first before eating them (that goes with SPAM as well - for those of you out there wondering). Also, a trick I learned from my cousin is to slice some calamansi and drizzle them over the sardines. This is a good tip for those who don't like the fishy/metallic taste that some may detect in canned sardines. Also, liver spread is usually paired with bread rather than rice.

As for the corned beef, squid with soy sauce and the sardines, we eat like how you ate it, straight from can but it can taste even better if you cook it. The Purefoods (color blue) corned beef and Delimondo brand corned beef are better than the Argentina corned beef. You sauté garlic and onions together then add the corned beef. You can add tomatoes too if you like and a little water if ever you don’t like it dry. 😊
The sardines should be sautéed as well with garlic and onion.
It tastes good with a bit of soy sauce. You can eat it with dipping sauce like vinegar and soysauce with chili or just plain soy sauce or plain fish sauce.
You can do that also with the canned squid.
Don’t put too much magic sarap.😅just a teaspoon is enough.
There are also tuna in cans that are cooked with different flavors. You can try to eat the Century tuna in can. They have a variety of canned goods. The premium one and hot and spicy one are the best ones for me, can be eaten with rice and egg after cooking or can br used as tuna spread for tuna sandwhich😊

@ᜉ᜔ᜇᜒ,ᜐ Maybe white pepper would look better. You're right that it's unnecessary, but magic sarap is a pretty standard cheat now, so it's still "authentic". But the butter, though, that's new to me.

    • @ojnab85
      @ojnab85 Před 4 lety

@ᜉ᜔ᜇᜒ,ᜐ I usually avoid using MagicSarap, too. For making a quick sinangag, toasting some leftover rice in oil, sprinkling magic sarap, and mixing in some already fried and crispy flakes of garlic (also available prepackaged) is very easy. Especially in the morning.

I don't see Filipino eating liverspread right away. We used spread to add on to our cooking as one of the secret ingredients it's more delicious!

Sum TMI: Ligo has the fish bones in it but it just melts in the mouth. Also, the liver spread is meant to be a filling for bread hihi. Sisig is meant to be spicy but not as spicy as korean spicy flavors, more like "cute spicy" 😂
Also, filipinos like their canned goods being reheated or sautéd first before eating. These are ready-made food that not only serve as staple grabs for the people who are lazy to cook but also serve as donations for people affected with natural disasters and calamities throughout the country.

Corned beed is better sautee with onion and cubed potatoes.
Sardines is better when you put some lemon.
Canned Squid is good also if sauteed
Liver spread is good with bread not with rice 😊
Sisig?, i dont like it in can, home cooked sisig is the best.
