Lizzie's smile when her welding was complimented is only surpassed by Matt's "Lizzie's welding voice" impersonation
Welding with a mig welder is significantly easier than welding with rods...
@@labourlawact7826 agreed stick welding is a ton more difficult
@@o0RageCore0o Yep. I'm ashamed to say that I've never been able to weld good with a stick welder.
@@labourlawact7826 Very true, but I've seen plenty of PLENTY of ugly welds by folks who had even more experience than Lizzy. Suspect her brother was a fine teacher indeed. :-)
Unicorn that’s all I’ve got to say
Knee pads Lizzy.. train your self to wear them now while your still young. . And trust me you will alter the course of your life when your older.. only take a few months of damage to last a life time. Plus it happens without you knowing. . Knee pads will save your health time and money. For when your older. You may not think it now...but wearing knees pads could allow you to work on what you love doing , at least by 10 years or more than you ordinarily would have without them being part of your work attire.. Always ! Wear them even if you don't like the look people may make comments, but you will have a better quality of life over all of them. .. Plus you can slide on knee pads. Making you more effective and efficient... trust me im a 20 plus year mechanic in my field here in NYC.. . Yes I took the time to explain fact. You're welcome.
I`m 72 and had a hip replaced 3 days ago. Worked on cars and trucks. Always tried to cushion my knees with a rag . Caution and prevention is a good plan.
Good advice, both of my knees are screwed and I'm 57, I wear great quality knee pads and they certainly do help, but at the end of a day of doing construction work, they hurt.
@@TokyoCraftsman you need to start doing yoga
I wasn't wearing knee pads when I worked underneath my truck but started wearing them after the pebbles and rocks started hurting my knee. It's worth it wearing them 👍🇺🇸..
I work with an older guy has bad knees and every day I hear him tell someone or just say "protect your knees kid protect yours" as he shuffles around. I only wear pants with the pad pockets to work now.
Lizzie is by far absolutely my favorite. Intelligent, witty, and a hard worker. She makes the show along with Matt and rudy
And she's easy on the eyes lol
Great welding Lizzy for not having done it at all for sometime and being recognized as doing a great job on this job. You are definitely an asset to the team. Yea!!
So Trev comes in to work on his day off, we still haven't heard if he got his Pay Rise Yet
Yeah Matt. Where's his pay raise?
@@beauthomas7285 Trevor probably got told to stand on a piece of paper when he asked for a raise lol.
Trev is being paid through "exposure".
I don't think he needs it...Matt probably pays him well already.
Did Matt get his pay raise
I've probably watched over 50 of Matt's videos to this point and I always enjoy the adventure, the camaraderie, and positive attitudes of his whole team. Best of all, in all those videos, I've never heard a single foul word. That's not a big deal for some, but for me it means having great videos that I can enjoy and share with my little ones. Thank you @Matt's Off Road Recovery and keep it up!
The foul words come when the camera is off. They don't want their videos to be demonetized as they are billed as a family friendly channel. Not that I'm complaining, just saying.

That shifter boot is definitely gonna be permanent.
Yes! If it doesn't break don't fix it.
Sure it will... right up until it fails. That could be be tomorrow; could be ten years.
It is a TEMPORARY/PERMANENT fix for a permanent problem
Love team lizzie... go Lizzie!!!
Nothing is as permanent as a temporary fix.
Y’all are a bunch of cool people. Must say that Lissy is one awesome woman. We need more women like her in this world. Happy Memorial Day to you all. Cheers
You could at least spell her name correctly if you think she is so awesome. It’s not exactly difficult.
Lizzy seems to be a never ending source of talent.
Rumour has it the only thing she struggles with is making an omelette while standing on her head!. She's a star.
Lizzy does not need a grinder and paint, to make her the welder that she ain't. She appears to have natural talent for it.
Lizzie is quickly becoming the star of this channel. She just does everything and I’m pretty sure that belt buckle she wears is for a rough stock championship and not some timed event. There are a ton of people who spend hours in the gym to be as fit as she is and I’m certain she has “real” muscles from doing work and has never been in a gym. Kudos Lizzie, you are a badass - keep doing what you’re doing.
I'm waiting for the reveal that she sneaks into the shop late at night and rebuilds the engines so they run better than Matt and Trevor can manage.
@@kd5nrh Lizzy has a lot of hidden talents which are just starting to surface, and you mite be very right..
Ayyyy I just saw the Morrvair and the whole crew driving up Ice House Road towards the Rubicon literally an hour ago
I was curious if they made it and how it's going. I'm down in Gardnerville and am looking forward to seeing how they did.
Instead of "run Forrest run" we now have "weld Lizzie weld" and she CAN weld GOOD ! Thumbs UP to Lizzie !
Welding is as welding does.

I watched some of the earlier videos again. Didn't realise that Trevor a driver and mechanic - I thought he was a photography/ multimedia guy. Must be a regular McGuyver!
Lizzy and Rudy are the result of excellent parenting
Lizzy is awsome, dancing, trick riding, and perfect welds.
Post-flow gas should cover the weld until it stops glowing. So don't immediately pull the gun away. And eyepro always.

It’s only temporary unless it works
You guys might now believe this but it is Monday (memorial day) afternoon and I just came off a weekend on the Rubicon trail in my XJ. When I was headed down Icehouse Rd back towards Hwy50, damn if I didn't see Paul from Fab Rats in his white Toyota, as well as Matt in the MORRVAIR right behind him! I had my arms out the window yelling Matt's name like a crazy person. Super awesome to see ya'll in real life, even if it was only in passing on the road. I should have turned around and caught up with you at Loon Lake for a photo and autograph but we were already so pooped. Really looking forward to footage of the rigs wheeling the Rubicon... Cheers!!!
I taught my daughters to stick weld when they were in high school. Didn't take them long to run better looking beads than I was lol. More women ought to give it a shot, it's fun and depending on what you're into can be a super useful skill.
My daughter at age 16 just picked up a mig welder and took right to it. She looked like she had a years worth of experience. Never had tried it before at all. But she doesn't enjoy it
It's one of those skills that women can be very good at because they tend to be patient and detail-oriented.

Hey Matt, I've got some leftover EPDM from a wine cellar project. I never thought about gluing it together to to make make thicker pieces, what a good idea. I know exactly what I'm going to do with those scraps, thanks for the tip.
I love how well you work with the younger kids. You have a knack for explaining and teaching people in a practical way.
EPDM stands for ethylene propylene diene monomer, which is a bit of a mouthful, so it's commonly shortened to EPDM or EPDM rubber
I can see why basically no one remembers what it stands for now. 😆
edp445????
They can do that sort of thing?
Hmm
Stuff doesn’t last long on roofs.
I've been welding for 13 years and i would say after seeing her welds. shes better then most guys i know that have been welding for 10+ years lol if she ever leaves the shop she could just show this video and get a nice paying shop job welding and nail the test the first time lol great job
better than mine
Most of the time, pretty handwriting predicts a pretty weld. Better fine motor skills. Not popular (politically) to say, but females have better fine motor skills more often than males.
having welded and seeing that weld as a first weld in years? Wow. If I had to weld again it would probably take at least half an hour or so to get the "pushing the puddle" down just right.
100% correct statement. I've seen ANSI B31.1 (steam pipe) certified welders, leaving welds that looked like coral. She was getting good, clean, full penetration welds, without too much heat, and consistent flow.
@@nunya3163 I have to question her welding in the past. I have never seen anybody pick up a MIG welder and weld like that.
Howdy howdy let's get rowdy...... I love Lindsey.... That one girl gives me hope for the future keep it up girl you're awesome and super thanks to Matt for being that kind of Dad
Lizzy impressed me with this one. Welding, cutting, measuring, gluing; she did it all better than anyone else I've seen
That Lizzy is quite a remarkable young lady! She can dance, she can weld, she helps unstuck folks, and always has a smile on her face. And she's cute too. Loved it when her hair was "down". Great work everyone and thanks for videos.

Let's get rowdy, let's get rowdy

I've just started watching, bought my first Jeep earlier this year and reminiscing back fifty years to my teens, with uncles in the desert of southern California/Mexico. I was learning to drive when that Corvair was driving on the road young. I've been welding since the early seventies and those beads laid down by Lizzie didn't look like "just welding a couple times", very nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

You have some good genuine people working with you Matt you should be grateful... love the show
18:58 Lizzy. My pop holds all welding tickets except plastic. My uncle Brian was a welding instructor for 30+ years at a BCIT in Vancouver BC, I have been welding about 25 years, and your welds are better than mine.. My hat is off to you.. Mighty fine welding..
Maybe the most real thing I have seen on youtube.

I really Love this Channel. Greetings from Los Angeles.
Well that’s an accomplishment. I’ve never been invited behind the desk at my local Napa.
Once you shop there on the regular and know everybody by name it will happen. Makes coming up with solutions to fab jobs a lot easier when you can look through what they have.
I use to live next door to an amazing girl, hands on and doesn't mind dirt. She bought an old FJ47 Troopy to cross Australia in, but before that she travelled she did a Mechanics course and learnt how to weld. I only went across to South Australia in my Troopy. She went all the way and back and then joined the police force. You go Lizzy.
Lizzie's welding is spot on for someone who hasn't welded much. It takes some practice to become a really good welder.
Matt you have to let "Smooth-Weld" Lizzie loose more often with the wire welder! Just think how good she will be with some practice.

When you do cold air, go with the plastic tube. The pretty shiny chrome ones absorb more engine head which obv puts more heat into the intake air. Cold airs for gm 5.3 are available at most parts places and take 30 min to install.
If you got to do anything like this in the future get your self some commercial window setting block. It's a roll of 2" wide by 1/8" or 1/4" solid rubber. Works great use it for mounting rads etc.
I've used Joist Protectadeck rubber, for when mounting tool boxes to trailers on an A Frames and on the side of the trailer walls for boxes too. Aluminum and steel don't go well touching and really reduces the noise.
