When I walked into the yard I had no idea that they were pulling out their hair trying to make one good transmission out of 3 defective units. Remember the childhood game "musical chairs"?.... You get the idea. Anyway I chose to believe that this is a God deal. What are the odds?

awesome job pat ! I tried to rebuild my transmission 10 years ago when i was into racing... I ended up having to send the whole thing to a transmission shop :D .

I had not been keeping up with the channel, so here, on a Saturday night, I have about 6 videos to watch! I'm psyched! Keep me laughing and smiling at the adventures of the MORR team. you guys are just the best. I so admire what you've done with the channel, Matt, having watched from the beginning. And now Rudy has his own! I have 3 of those to watch too. Love you all so much--hugs from Vermont!

@Thomas Bloomer As good an explanation as any :D:D:D I have built 3 trannys, (that did work), and sat through MANY hours of classroom time studying them and I admit that I STILL do not understand how they work. It's all Voo Doo and magic to me.
Another reason I prefer a manual transmission!
In 1969, I bought my first car, a 1956 Studebaker Golden Hawk with the Packard 352 {275 hp) V8 and an Ultramatic 2 speed automatic transmission which leaked and only had low gear. I found another at a wrecking yard and swapped it, but it was no better (only cost $40) and exchanged and swapped that one with the same results. I traded it for a 1957 Chevy 1/2 ton long bed pickup which I paid another $200 dollars for. It was about 1990 before I bought another vehicle with an automatic transmission, a 1974 B300 Dodge van, which I believe was only released with automatic transmissions. I was intimidated by automatic transmissions then, and I still am. LOL I do have a couple of AW4 transmissions in my yard and may play with them for the fun of it. I could put one in a 91 XJ which presently has a 5 spd and 2wd. The AW4 has a transfer case so it would facilitate the swap. Not that I need the XJ when I have a perfectly good 1st gen Tacoma and a 7.3 Powerstroke Excursion.
An Automatic transmission anyway.
I knew a guy who worked in a transmission assembly plant in Detroit. He said they have to use Black Magic before the transmissions actually work.
I told him I believed that.
@@grantmeliberty5409 That 7.3 Excursion has a 4R100 transmission. Other than diodes, they usually don't give much trouble.

Best episode ever. Total team effort plus some special fan assistance. Jamie showed she has more than a bit of grit and didn't abandon ship when it looked sketchy. Lizzy is the poster girl for "i can do anything I damn well want to" and Matt demonstrated the bodgery that has made him famous with his transmission work. Happy Easter everyone!!

The off the top of your head explanation of how a transmission works was awesome and all so true. " horse power goes in here, confusion and disappointment comes out of this end". Let's hope the disappointment doesn't happen over the weekend. You're much braver than I am just attempting this rebuild. I have changed the front pump (horse power in area), shift kit (bottom of confusion area), and changed the tail shaft (disappointment area) and that is as brave as I got. Any deeper than that I would need a Pat for sure. A day in the life of MORR is always entertaining.

Just my opinion, but I totally enjoy the shop videos way more than many of the recovery vid's. There are some pretty exciting recoveries, but the projects really show off the talent you are surrounded with.
Good on Matt for recognizing he needed help and took Pat up on his offer, never turn down help or someone who wants to pay you for a job well done.
Matt is sure lucky to have an ace mechanic and social media star Like Lizzy to keep things running smothe and bring the views in on these videos! 😁

i went rock crawling with a friend of mine and since my daughter was in the back we just did some small stuff but we went over an unseen big rock which set us perfectly resting on the back bumper while me and my friend were trying to figure out whether we should go back or forward my daughter starts cussing the same word over and over f*** i don't know where she learned it she was only 4 her mother and i are not habitual swearers we finally went backwards and got back down rock and all told the wife and got some humor out of it and our daughter never snitched on the person whom she learned the word from.

just seeing how much Lizzy has grown and learned from when I first started watching you guys is amazing! You better watch out matt, she's gonna take over one day!
So much going on in this episode. Love seeing these build/repairs as much as the recoveries. Learn a lot & the banter & shenanigans are always present. What a nice bit of luck that Pat dropped by just at the right time to save the day with the tranny. I can see Lizzy being the Queen of recoveries down the track as well as doing builds & repairs to. With such good teaching support, her get it done attitude & work ethic is really shining through. What a great asset she is. Everyone is a valuable team player too & with Matt being such a skilled leader in all ways means great things are achieved. We need more folks like you guys in the world.
Always fun to watch. From Lizzy being awesome, Trevor being Army Strong, random folks bringing in expertise, and the whole team making a plethora of complex tasks look "fun".

It was cool to meet you guys over spring break. I could tell you were under a bit of pressure then. Trevor and Lizzy are really cool down to earth folks. Congrats on building up the turbo 400. Thought you might need to call Paul at Fab Rats to help with the Tranny but then Pat showed up and saved the day. That's pretty cool about Tom pulling out a stronger part from the 4L80E to use in the turbo 400. Change that in line tranny filter every 3 months and it should last a long time.
It is your team (community) that brings me to this channel. They are a great group of people with you out front taking them on this ride. Thanks Matt and crew. Also to Pat and the other 'fans' who participate.

Excellent video. Never really saw someone inside a tire being rolled down the street, well, lot. I wish you, Robby and Paul would start a collection on the Golden Nugget. I know there are several people that would love to support it. Robby and crew are doing a wonderful job on it and will absolutely love the color.
