Much Gratitude! I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support!!! - Zábava
Hi Josh , Wow , you have some cool projects underway! Lots of fun stuff for future videos. Cheers Chuck
Hi Chuck, what can I say? I'm a bike hoarder. I guess that's the downfall of building bikes from leftovers, and unwanteds...you have to warehouse it. Happy today my friend!
Yep, that’s the reality! So many projects and so little time. I have the attention span of a gnat, so my reality may be even more chaotic than yours! But maybe it’s better to have too many things going on, than too little. Either way, another great video. I will think of some Q’s.
I'm going to guess we have similar brain waves. I could never build bikes for other people. They'd never get done - and it would become a job, and I'd hate it.
I've never built a bike, ground up. Something I want to do someday.
A couple generic questions, because I haven't had my coffee yet.
Favorite bike you've owned?
Favorite style of riding?
Favorite type of drivetrain? (1x, 2x, single speed, fixed gear, etc.)
What got you into biking as an adult? Or, maybe a background of biking in your life, if you have been riding your whole life.
Haven't watched a ton of videos yet. So, I don't know if you've ever addressed this stuff or not.
That's all I got for now. Take care and have a good week! Thanks for the video!
Hi John, I’ll bet I could make a short video that would address all of those questions.
If you have any mechanical aptitude, you can build a bike. I started this channel with the approach of middle age guy has no clue what he is doing but is figuring it out. If I can do it, you can do it.
Happy Toosday!
At least you made your annual video about it. Lol! Thats that crank off that dumpster vid isn't it? That rear wheel came from that Trek. You managed to get the chain-line correct on that without even trying or it seems that way. Maybe you did behind the scenes, regardless, it seems flawless.
It could be a great winter beater or a great commuter if necessary.
I think it is the same crank... I wound up with 2, so it could be the other one. The rear is indeed from the trash trek, and is a standard freehub body - so it's just moving shims. I had sorted the chain line over the summer when I converted it to 16, from 18... so here was just removing/replacing a cog. This bike's original intended purpose was a commuter, but I can't carry anything on it, and screw a back pack. I don't know what it's for anymore, but damn is it the smoothest ride I have. Happy today!
Funny story about the dumpster bike frame. It sat in the back corner of my basement for about 2 years. I tried to give it away for awhile... until I couldn't take it anymore and put it out at the curb on trash night. Seems a fitting end for it. It was a $199 thruster fixie frame that someone left in my brother in law's basement with one ruined wheel, and a stuck seat post. I'm glad to have had it, but don't miss it at all.
@EriebyCycle lol left behind in a basement, pulled out of a dumpster, then back to the trash. Lol full circle for that poor mans fixie. Lol it served it's intended purpose.
Happy Tues from the 2's my friend! I hope the Nishiki gets more attention. Especially if it rides like a Caddy. At least it made a cameo appearance on the channel. Maybe not ridden but it's not forgotten. Dang good bike!
Man there's a channel that I just found and it kind of made me think of you. It's called BikeFarmer. Wisconsin guy with a small bike shop. Has a very cynical outlook on the big bike market. A real smartass! I find it humorous, also useful and thought... "I think Josh would like this guy." Lol! Idk maybe you wont but he seems to have the same outlook as You, I, Spindat and some others. You may want to check him out. Just thought I would share incase you didn't know of him. He's small, like 15k subs but has some decent material.
Anywho... have a great Tuesday my friend!!
@@billywood9717 you know… I think it wasn’t trash night, but just a curbside purge. Put anything good on the curb here and it’s gone in no time. I think I put out an aluminum’88 trek 1200 frame I was trying to giveaway too. I won’t be surprised if I see them again someday.
The bike farmer has been in the suggestions for a while now. I might have to try it sometime soon.
Bikes don't get finished, they evolve....
Q: When should bike tech have stopped?
Q: When did it peak?
I think you nailed it! Damn good questions my friend!
Erie pa I’m in pgh.
Nice! I used to play music at some Irish Pub place (name escapes me at the moment). Just across the hot metal bridge. Still have family in the burgh.
@@EriebyCycle nice I been to some bars by hot metal bridge.
The Claddagh... just across from some cheesecake place. I think it's closed now. Never made sense, old time American blues music in an Irish pub.
@@EriebyCycle yup a lot has changed there. Me n the wife or just me ride the southside trail At time we ride to the water front.
@@EriebyCycle excuses. Was closed. After all the years. Now empty. Something was supposed to open but stuck empty.
Have you ever tried fixed gear?
I’ve dabbled a little. I’d dabble some more in the future.
@@EriebyCycle would love to see a build, I've had two and I am still loving it till this day.
@@jotikol6177 well… I finished a second ss bike that was going to be fixed, but the cog was too thick and covered the threads for the lock ring… I probably won’t get to that until spring time though. It’s fat bike season here in the Great Lakes region… if it would quit raining and snow.
Fair enough, would still wait tho spring is still just around the corner
