- Russia has destroyed the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant in the city of Ukrainka in Kyiv Oblast due to a lack of air defense missiles. MAGA Republicans continue to block a vote on military aid for Ukraine and the EU Parliament is demanding that European countries give up and donate 7 of their more than 100 Patriot air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities.

Polish- Lithuanian commonwealth had such system called liberum veto - one vote was able stop important decisions. And that lead to colapse of Polish Lithuanian commonwealth. And russia really liked this broken system

He was actually a Russian agent from the 80s, and there is some proof for it. He was in contact with Czech secret services, which were in the same team with the KGB. Was it really so difficult to understand what you were signing this nation on for? How you were selling out your country? Even with all the Russian disinformation, many voters could still recognize the danger. Was your hate for Hillary so strong that you were blinded to the obvious? I'm not a fan of Hillary, but unlike Trump she did have strong credentials for the job. And her 3 Supreme Court picks would not risk the civil rights of millions of Americans for the next few generations. Maybe you don't care about other people's kids, but if you have children of your own this affects them. So yeah, that forgiveness is not readily offered should be easy to understand. Your vote changed lives and placed our nation on a dangerous trajectory from which we may never recover. If you want forgiveness, best turn to your higher power.

Ukraine doesn't have the missiles they need to provide sufficient AA cover (though they would also need those additional Patriot systems) due to lack of missiles. This acute shortage is what I would term the Johnson Effect in dishonor of the current Speaker.

Well I don't want Ukraine hitting civilian targets like homes, schools, hospitals, etc, but oil refineries and military factories are legitimate military targets. As are subs & ships in port in Novorossiysk, as well as aircraft on the ground in Russia, especially Tupolev bombers and fighter-bombers.

I'm European - I'd give all our air defense to Ukraine. If Ukraine wins we won't need them, if they loose they will do what they could do earlier in Ukraine, no more. It's damn no brainer. I'm sick of politicians that only look to argue amongst themselves on matters that are not that important, so they can score political points against one another. They aren't interested in "ruling" for the people they represent, it's a job that they do to earn as much income as possible, but mostly to masturbate their own ego.
I'd prefer our democracy than the alternatives, but voters need to wake the fuck up and start holding their representatives to account. I write on a regular basis to mine, pleading to do something about the issues in Ukraine and the threat from this new axis of power. This happened in Slovakia too, so different people and sadly these are pro-ruzzian people. So that is how it "flipped sides", not like the same people of few years ago got scared.
In the Netherlands we're quite "lucky" that the populist party won't be the leading party as to how our system works. The infamous Wilders won't be prime minister, as other political parties already said not wanting to work with him if he becomes prime minister. The Slovakians and Ukrainians share distant but nonetheless common past, we have much more in common that we can imagine and as someone who happens to live next to Russia I would highly recommend you never listen and believe what the Russians say or promise or what the pro-russian politicians promise. The Russians will break any agreements the moment they can, they will mislead you, deceive, lie, pretend its someone else and meanwhile they will destabilise you country from the inside. Any Slovakian pro-russian politician is either lying to you or is being lied to by the Russians. The reason for that is simple - Russia has nothing to offer. No prosperity, future or any kind of freedom and peace. All they deliver is death, prison, poverty, sadness, alcoholics, war and grim future.

I can vote in both Finland and Sweden! In both countries you can choose between about five parties in the middle of the field, and choose what you see as important in life at least for the next four years.
Quite a lot of people in these countries think they don't need to support the same party in two consecutive elections.
But, unfortunately, sometimes you have to vote against something instead of for something. Some parties must be woken up by being defeated.
A big mistake in any country is to believe you can vote for one and the same party for decades.
Yes, NZ changed from a 2-party (first past the post) to a proportional representation. (Parliamentary system like the UK - but only one house). More parties in the winning side now, although the same 2 dominate. But the 2 parties have both had to form a couple of alliances and so do some compromising. Not huge difference from before, but I think it's an improvement.
From here it's hard to believe the 2 parties are so at odds in the US that Republicans wouldn't do anything -- your system needs some tinking as well.

As a European I've long found our effort in this war embarrassing for a while. It's not taken seriously, and it's not much talked about. The least we have is a rather unified stance on the matter, but no one is going that necessary extra mile to ensure Ukraine's freedom, and the industries are not ramping up to send unconditional arms and keep the nations constantly supplied. I'm fiercely hating the MAGA people at the moment, but by no means do I find out own contribution adequate - and I live in Denmark, a nation who's given among the most in comparison to GDP.

Technically, the speaker should be put into place by the house-majority. So the same majority that can up or down vote a bill on the agenda can also place the speaker that they want. The issue right now is that the majority is fractured and does not have a common goal.
Currently, it's like there are 3 parties in the house and no party has the majority. And 2 of these parties depend on the same pool of votes, therefore none of them want to work together with the party from the opposing pool of votes.

There are about 30-40 Patriot systems outside the USA with around 250 launchers. The 100 systems in Europe mentioned by Guy Verhofstad are launchers, not systems. Raytheon can't build replacement systems fast enough to donate enough to Ukraine. Ukraine needs 7 systems ASAP and 25 systems in total.
first and foremost they need AMMO for the systems they already have ... they were doing just fine when they had interceptors to deploy, only once they started to run out did the missile strikes start to get through
