I admire the restraint of not adding Sheoldred to this deck.
Why? The only reason you’d need to is if your opponent has more cards in their library than you, and with the way the deck is built that’s pretty unlikely
@jennietsai1260 while that's true if your have indestructibility on the flumpf, if you don't you could make them loose 6 life while you durdle

I'd run a Fling and throw the Army at them
I actually agree that she should be a 1-2 of. It's a good backup plan for those side cases where for whatever reason you have less cards in library
This reminds of the seismic swans deck. Instead of "hit our swan draw some cards" it's "hit our flump we both draw"
This must be the group hug version of Seismic Swans.

55:51 It wasn't that they sided in extra cards, they just drew you a bunch of cards with their goblin guides
Also, the opponent had the next draw step, so having an equal number of cards in library still worked fine.

Unless I'm mistaken, when the Murktide opponent went to Unholy Heat Flumph, Seth could have flashed in Bowmaster and then protected Flumph, going infinite with Heat on the stack

I wonder what would be the first opponent to realize that the best way to sideboard to this deck is to bring your entire sideboard
It's an avenue, but all it really does in practice is require the combo player to set up a little more and find a second bowmaster. In the meantime, they're playing a diluted deck that will have a lot of trouble hitting its lands on time.
A 2nd bowmaster would mean one ping can hit the player instead.
Maybe a thick life gain deck could do it, if you wanted to lose against any other deck
Just play something that shuffles some cards into the library. You are eventually going to draw that card
@@fricasepolitico9271 What card does shuffle cards into the library at instant speed? Also that still doesn't beat the second, third, and fourth bowmasters that the flumph player will always draw.
The combo also makes a 50/50 army token, which can sometimes win a game

Your opponent conceded before they drew out so the automated triggers tried to stack and broke the game
If the deck doesn't have any artifact creatures, I think Loran's Escape is a strictly better version of Blacksmith's Skill. It's also Hexproof + Indestructible but adds on "Scry 1" instead of "+2/+2 if the target is an artifact creature".
I guess it allows you to kill something when blocking?
The scry seems way more relevant for this deck, good call imo

I built a version of this on Arena for historic and the first person I played against in the play queue had a 66 card deck.

I feel like there's an argument for at least one Kazuul's Fury to fling the huge orc if the opponent happens to have more cards in deck than you when you start the combo.

Played a version of this on historic, getting both Flumph and Bowmasters out of collected company is so silly.
The only problem is that people dont understand its a combo and will sit around for the entire thing.

In that first match I’d give almost anything to see the opponents reaction to this.

I refreshed the channel constantly today because I’ve been waiting for this.
In the last game, your libraries were the same because Goblin Guide drew you enough extra lands to even it
56:20 if you have the exact same amount of cards you could also just send the last two bowmasfer triggers to anything OTHER than Flumph, pass the turn once you’re both empty and they lose on their draw step
When you wondered at 55:30 why we milled out as quickly as our opponent: it was the Goblin Guide triggers.
It's already been said but I have to reiterate. At 30:35 when opponent cast the unholy heat to kill Flumph, you had black mana floating and a land untapped. You could have flashed in Bowmasters to then convoke Ephemeral Shield to both save the Flumph and start the combo.
OMG, the return of the infamous Flumph.
Magic the way Richard Garfield intended it. Using a Lord of the Rings card to damage a Dungeons and Dragons card in order to beat opponents playing extra turn decks in Modern.

I Wonder if a fling effect for a back up kill condition would work in case you can't mill them safely. You are also making a massive army.

I love that this is an infinite combo that mix a meme creature from DND and a couple fo orcs with arrows from Lord of the Rings xD
The gut shot has cycling with the flumph in play and can keep the combo going if they solitude in response to drawing their deck

A crazy thing about this deck is that if you CAN’T make Flumph indestructible bow master is still an ancestral recall that makes a 3/3. Might just find emephemeral shield and gutshot off those.
(Plus a free Ancestral Recall for the opponent)

there is something special about a D&D and a LOTR card working together this well
Feels like even more than 63 cards would be good, like 66, (the 3 extra cards maybe being profane tutor or unearth). This is because the deck still seems to be in danger of putting itself in a position where it has the smallest library because of how much the deck tutors for combo pieces. In the last game of the last match you were at 42 cards in the deck and your opponent was at 44. Which stopped Eldrami’s Call from grabbing Selfless Savior for indestructible on flumph and the mill win.
That first combo was absolutely beautiful
What happens if they side in like 4 cards from their sideboard and have more cards?
The first game where you were able to fully automate the combo on MO was pure bliss.

At the 50 minute mark you conceded when I think you could have gotten one more shot at looking for the convoke; in response to the rift bolt pay 2 life for the gutshot (take an extra 1) down to 4, and target flumph.
The original Flumph stream is one of my Top 5, all-time favorite bits of content from MtGGoldfish. It was sort of like the Sharknado Twitter event. So bad, but not in an uninteresting way. Hilarious. And the payoff of "how long can we go until we win a single game?" Hard to describe, but was such a must-watch, suddenly an event, sort of thing.
Cool thing about gut shot in the list is you can use it as a response to restart the combo if the opponent finds interaction

Do you think you could go a bit fairer and play things like baleful mastery or ertai to force draws in more ways? The combo is sweet, but more vowmasters and better cards like sheoldred sounds pretty sweet and maybe faster if we can be aggressive enough?

You had the win at 30:26 in game three against murktide.
You had one mana floating from city, tap your gemstone, play bowmasters, and then start the combo and win in response to the unholy heat.
You could even convoke it after Bowmasters resolves

Was pretty funny, right after I saw this video on CZcams I got paired against it in historic (obviously tons of differences) but the core combo is legal so it was cool to see how someone adapted it. I did win against it with mono blue lutri, but that’s fine as that’s a S Tier archetype ; P

Have you considered adding something like Endurance? If you have the means to get cards from your hand into your graveyard at instant speed, then evoke Endurance, you don't need a bigger deck than the opponent when you start the combo - and since the combo involves drawing your entire deck, you can just leave those combo pieces in your deck and cast them when the time comes.

In the game versus izzet murktide where they unholy heated the flumph, couldn't you have cast bowmasters in response since you hadn't even put it on the stack yet and were just adding mana?
We could also just change the Flumph's creature type to Army and grow it at the same time as hitting it. Though I guess indestructible is better against removal.
I like that if you somehow have less cards than your opponent, you still have an avenue to victory via the army token.
I also like that the key cards for this deck (Bowmasters + Flumph) are both MTGA legal. I could have some historic fun with a brew like this.

I love this deck! Its hilarious. I think people playing a few gutshots in current modern is correct. It stops a lot, including this combo which draws them into it.
I think this needs 1-ofs Arcades the Strategist, and Doran the Seige Tower.

Couldn't you have comboed off while unholy heat was on the stack @30:28? Sure the damage from city of brass was on the stack but you still could have tapped gemstone, played bowmaster. Then convoked the protection spell and comboed off? Or am I missing something

Would it be better to replace the recruiters with neoform and the aether vials for the rest of selfless saviors and another good 1 drop in abzan? It should allow for a better mana base and cut on the overall cmc of deck.

So, if opponent didn't play/crack the Spellbomb, they could have activated Shadowspear twice, which would have broken up the combo?
Another commenter pointed out that if you can give Flumph the "Army" creature type, you can keep adding counters to Flumph as you ping it with Bowmasters, so it never dies.
I think "Shields of Velis Vel" would be the best way to do that: 1-white-mana instant that gives all your creatures +0/+1 and all creature types until EOT. Could actually put it in the sideboard to counter Shadowspear, ha, but it's obviously worse in most situations.

@@Kydrou I wasn't talking about milling yourself and losing to it, I was talking about the deck mill. As in your entire combo only works if you have more cards in the deck than your opponent. If an opponent is playing mill that will probably not be the case. I guess then just bring the entire sideboard into the deck but still I dont see the deck winning then.
Seth in game 3 of the second shown match vs Izzet Murktide. When the opponent goes to unholy heat couldn't you have flashed in the bow masters in response and then given it indestructible?
