Oh god, I loved dancing to Metal (not headbanging) and playing it in VR sounds like a dream. Moving your body to the beat while pointing your hands/guns in every direction is just pron.

I wanted to comment on how well those first 6 pistol shots sync'ed with the music until i realised this is what this game is all about..as a beatmaker, i find this highly pleasing

This isn't really my preferred game or music genre. But I appreciate this got made! This is true passionate gaming art. Leave it to the indies to make great games!
It would probably be hard to make a rhythm game set to City and Colour, but we've always got really chill runs of Audiosurf and Beat Hazard.
I generally dislike metal, but the music in this one sounds great to me. It's melodic and really energetic.

No joke.. I think PC gaming is now better because of his critical reviews... especially the settings menu of AAA games... and gaming would still be getting better if he were with us...
I still rewatch shout craft kings on a regular basis. (Best starcraft e-sports out there IMO)
He is by far my most missed youtuber and it still feels surreal he is gone. And yeah a game like this would definitely be his jam, but I'm scared of the rage mode he would go into if he knew the state of the industry would get where it is.

@Michael Smith doubt it. I think he would praise it for knowing to pick it's battles and realizing that they either didn't have a talented artist or simply the budget to do it themselves. It's not like the developers didn't put in effort to make it something entirely unique.
Hopefully they will make enough profit so they can correct these issues in a sequel
Or simply update the game with more content/re-balancing. Dead cells which is another roguelike but from 2017 and is still getting tweaked with extra content.

Ralph isn't that big, but he still has a respectable audience. Had he not reviewed this game, it's likely it would have went under the radar, unnoticed by almost everyone.
But now that he's delivered a gushing review over it, you can bet it's going to get a TON more purchases than what it would have initially gotten.
They already have a "mega thread" on Steam, the devs were asking for feedback.

@@Sevarrius Yup, looks like Square Enix indeed. They can always remake Terranigma too if they like.
@@Sevarrius Yeah, it's Square Enix. It was originally created by Crystal Dynamics which was bought out by Eidos Interactive back in the late 90's. Then in 2009, Eidos was acquired by Square Enix. So technically it's Square Enix...I'd kill for a (GOOD) remake of that entire series. It's still the best story told in a game to this day (personal opinion of course).
Haven't the voice actors for most of the main characters passed away?
Pretty hard to make a faithful remake without them when the voice acting was such an essential component...
@@Owmxks the only member of the main cast who has passed away as far as I know is Tony Jay, the voice of the elder god. Still a pretty big role and distinctive voice to try and fill.
I just want to say, I watched this a couple of hours ago, and I still have the "Shoot, re-load-ing-the-gun" beat playing in my head non-stop. I can't wait till tomorrow to play this! Thanks Ralph!
It looks like they toned down the red filter a bit. That was literally my only complaint, now its an instabuy

Acertive Pillow look at the options he messed with in the settings. the saturation/filter levels are per level and you can tweak them according to your preference, per level.

I love how literally all of the playable characters are just unmodified characters from Paragon...
Well, they're pretty high quality assets. Considering they never really saw the light of day in Paragon, making it work in a well made original game is neat. Asset flipping gets a bad rep because of the heaps of trash that gets pushed on steam for a cash-grab.

I was on the devs yt page and this popped up, I'm getting pretty hyped for this.
I love these types of games, it is just fun for the sake of being fun, somewhat arcade game style that you play for a bit, or an hour or so to unwind from other more complicated games with stats, gears, skills combo, etc that can be stressful for some.

i will definitely get this game and i really hope they will add two more difficulty options or something like that to give it longevity and challenge. a game being too easy and therefore boring is so easy to fix but its the number one factor killing games for me nowadays.

I was reading reviews online and I saw that screen rant gave it a 1.5/5 . I was really confused how someone could give a fresh and new game like this that kind of score. Definitely getting this game the moment it comes out.
Pathologic 2, just trust me with this one ralph. If you loved the exploration and unique mechanics of Outer Wilds you'll love Pathologic 2
Pathologic 2 is the best game I don't recommend to the average gamer. I loved every minute. The performance was probably the worst of any game I've played though. To enjoy the game I had to adjust the hunger mechanics though
@@Jim26D I'm on my first playthrough and hunger is the most annoying thing in the world. The haruspex must have the fastest metabolism in all of Russia. He goes from a full stomach to starving in about a minute.

Ralph, can you not see the colour orange or something? Genuine question. All the levels are basically a shade of orange but in neither review have you said the word. Even the grey/orange level you called "grey/black something" which was admittedly hilarious, but I'm starting to get concerned. Anyway, good stuff, keep it coming.

Got this game because of this review. I gotta say: Love the adorable Hugin's song. This is the first Rogue-like I've ever played, and I'm having a LOT of fun with it. Is my current go-to game when I have a little spare time. I really hope the game does well with sales.

This game is unity trash, it is, it really really is, it uses stock assets, it has performance issues, the lighting can get very disfunctional. It is trash.
And fuggin hell it's so much fun, it's so exhilirating, it's so well done and full of charm, it's full of love and power and it really is just an experience.
I don't care how much flak this game gets all the time, it's still an absolute gem. Kind of a dirty one, but it's a gem.
Refunded this. The graphics are just terrible. Everything is in a saturated color of orange and red. The enemies have no detail. The game gave me a headache after an hour. Also lot of ridiculously OP items that make it too easy.

Im so sorry, but Im a musician and a die hard DOOM fan, and this game is a really poor execution of a really great idea. Believe me, it looks awesome, but it doesn't feel that way at all when ur playing. Gmanlives made a really honest and unbiased review of this game, you should check that out.

I'm sold on the part when you said a BFG like gun is in it lmao.
I picked this game up the second I watched the steam trailer. I echo the sentiment that it's super fun. I just wish that the minimap was more readable - it should really tell you if a room has items in it (uncollected coins/chests) and it should DEFINITELY tell you where shrines are.
Now I really want a Hip Hop inspired rythm brawler.
This looks cool. I will need to get it. I also am really looking forward to Graven and Witchfire as well. The PC has so many great fps games.
at 9:45, that enemy did not harmonise with the music well/. I don't know how feasible it would be, but what if the grunt noises they made was an extra layer to the music. Also i do think this game could've created more visually interesting enemies, to compensate for the games bland environmentsm and also because the enemies are quite limited in their move set(mostly just hovering towards you and shooting).
