Give Cataluña their independence if they don't want to be Spanish, providing they lose everything Spanish including their passports, DNI's, driving licences, pensions, EU membership, the Euro, free movement in the Schengen area etc, etc, etc! 🇪🇦
Do you think the EU Dictatorship will reduce Spain's membership fees and give more financial support if Catalonia did get independence
@@HubbaHubba64 legally they should as contributions are based on GDP, but as the EU is a fascist dictatorship it's doubtful! My point was, as others have pointed out in the comments, I don't think the separatistas of Cataluña have thought about the consequences of independence, they can't have their cake and eat it, out of Spain then out of the EU, simple!
still mad about Brexit Boris?@@HubbaHubba64
@@mattinmalaga The EU Dictatorship will give an independent Catalonia all the help they need as it will mean another star on it's blue rag and can boast about how big it's getting .
@@HubbaHubba64 with Puigdemont's anti-immigration policies technically an independent Cataluña wouldn't meet the criteria required for EU membership, I think he's forgotten that there are stringent requirements in place and that all other member states have to vote on their accession to the EU
Catalonia won't have independence: they'll have about 80% of their laws made for them by the EU.
Spain, of course, can't properly oppose the Catalan independentists because Spain too has 80% of its laws made by Brussels. Madrid isn't the master in its own house and can't admit to it's own people how much of their sovereignty has been handed to the EU.
And so it can't fight Catalan independentists because it can't admit to its own people how Spain has given its democracy away to the EU.
Puigdemont knows this.
Poor Spain: it gained it's democracy back after Franco only to then give it away to the EU
This is utter horse shit.
Well, you're wrong and misinformed, but that's okay. Hopefully you figure it out and can contribute meaningfully to reality some day.
@@subcitizen2012 You mean that Spain's laws aren't being made by Brussels?
How do you work that out?
Perhaps you could consider the meaning of the word 'reality'. Try to do so without personal abuse. Can you do that?
@@EddyBlacksPlease say in what way? You think that the EU doesn't make Spanish laws?
Spain accepts that they do. The EU knows that. Read up on 'competences' and Directives
Well..poor Spain to a point - perhaps dealing more harshly with their corrupt politicians might help..
Hey Stu, since you spoke about Spanish airports being strict about liquids.. they should also get in the program of recognizing silent disability lanyards (the flower ones) for people who are disabled like airports in the UK and other countries. We had a horrible time at the Málaga Airport with our 5 year old autistic daughter when we visited last month.
The whole Catalan independence movement seems poorly thought out to me. They won't be able to join the EU and thus will need to make their own currency that is bound to be highly devalued, which will create a massive inflation crisis for the people of Catalan. I've yet to hear a good reason from a Catalonian for their independence. Be careful what you wish for Catalonians, independence doesn't always go the way you think, see just about every former Spanish colony. Cuba is a failed state, Puerto Rico is begging the US to make it a state, Argentina, Guam, I could go on.
Catalonia reminds me of El Salvador. Financial independence is achievable. Maybe they will take the bitcoin route or return to gold. there are options beyond bank debt. Many people are running from the banks now. Countries included. The $ is dead.
A good warning for the Scots there mate.
@@simonchilli2088 yes indeed.
If Catalonia becomes independent, PSOE, main party in coalition government, will never able to form a central government again in Spain. That is according to results in current elections. It is suicidal for PSOE and their future.
If Puigdemont wants Catalonia to become independent, he should be honest of what does really means and produce some clear answers to many of doubts which rise with such an idea. Remanining un the EU? 3rd world country? Real Catalan industry/businesses? Health? Retirement pensions? And so many other points which have never been answered. Catalonia needs a white book and this has been never been deakt with. All are emotions and thus nonsense in my opinion.
Puidgmont has done more than anyone to ensure that Catalonia can never be succesful. His efforts in 2017 ,eant that the two banls and all financial companies moved their headquarters out of the region. No banks, no insurance, no EU membership ( the EU has made that clear) and all those shiny new startups owing money to the EU through startup loans. It won't happen.
Politicians lied to the British people about Brexit. Now we are suffering.
@@ChristineFisher123 How true! Unfortunately, the Brexit campaign was directed by emotional lies which is always a highly explosive mixture with a Populist such as Farage.
@@ChristineFisher123 Remind me what good being in the EU did for you. I don't recall.

Dublin airport security staff are the absolute worst on the planet.
You have obviously not been through Terminal 5 at Heathrow. Totally staffed by people that English is not their first language. Rude, and aggressive. I was part of a large group who went through different lanes. Same experience for all of us. At one point I was beginning to wonder if I had got off at the wrong airport, in the wrong country.
Catalonia will not be able succeed unless it solves its water shortage issue. As Mark Twain is believed to have once said, “whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting.”
The EU bans the building of new reservoirs
If independence is anything like what's happening here in the UK with Brexit then for the love of god just leave it as it is, absolutely nothing gained whatsoever by us leaving the EU
Britain now has the power to make it's own laws again...by MPs elected by the citizens and who can be sacked by the citizens.
That's the essence of democracy. In Spain they even have to submit their departmental budgets to Brussels for approval or rejection. Why do you think they are having to change pensions and the running of the public sector? And why energy bills are going up again? And why Spain can't build any more reservoirs?
Brexit means Britain can rule itself. If the current government is not taking advantage of its new freedom then we can always vote them out... which they deserve
@ antifugazi,you are speaking rubbish.
@@andrewdavies8954yeah, it's going great after Brexit.
We’ve got nice blue passports………
@@waltersobchak1719 Britain also has the ability once again to make its own laws. The current government is far too timid in doing so we once again have the right.
General Directorate of Information, George Orwell, Spanish Civil War veteran, surely gave it that name back in the day.
As you read out comments, I thought I would tell a joke: A man walks past a lunatic asylum and hears them chanting "...34! 34! 34!..." He can't see over the tall fence and carries on. The next day he walks past again, and they are still chanting "...34! 34! 34!..." and curiosity gets the better of him. He climbs up and peers over the fence and sees all the inmates staring out the window. "...35! 35! 35!..." they chant.
If the following countries can have independence (one way or another) from Spain: Chile, Argentina, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Grand Columbia, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Equatorial Guinea, Mexico and Portugal, why not Catalonia?
Wonderful weather Stu, wild wet and windy Easter in Portugal, can't wait to get over to Spain. Enjoy your time in Portugal and happy Easter, best regards Marco 😉👊
Its refreshing to see your point or view. I feel you are a bit less biased. Even though uk politicians might have issues, i believe that they are much more honest than the Spanish ones
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I do feel that the channel comments are being a bit harsh nowadays. Stuart is being a good egg in doing what he does, if you don’t like it, then … do one
I wish you a happy holiday mate, you've earned it. Weather here in Zaragoza very mixed. " Cuidete".
Wow! Stuart I woke up put the MSN news on the tablet and there you popped up talking about living in Spain fame at last 😂
So what is the situation on taking / buying a property with squatters in it -is evection a viable process in Spain ? - or is it as it seems - a lost cause ??
The liquids at airports, I believe, have to do with international certification to comply with US TSA regulations. If the airport loses it's certification from TSA, perhaps by allowing Cadbury eggs through, then any flight connecting to a "certified" airport will require additional, secondary screening at the gate, with obvious increases in cost. In the end, it's much simpler and easier for a "certified" airport to retain the certification.
In the UK, you get a telegram from the King when you reach 100. They are talking about modernising the monarchy so that when you turn 13, you get a text from Prince Andrew.
Catalan independence - you would think it would be bad for them but, if the income for that region is as you read/hear would it?
There are many other issues to be considered not just the income, ! You have to look at the big picture
Well done Puigdemont
Hello from "Uruguay"
Can't really blame Catalunya wanting independence ... I live in Andalucía and it appears to be a quagmire of corruption and mismanagement, forever mired in poverty and unemployment
Why is Puigdemont not considered as being, a populist, a nationalist and his Catalunya first desires? It is somewhat biased, as to who gets to be into this category and who not.
Maybe Rubiales can go to Brussels and live there and wait for amnesty. Only kidding folks!
Have a great Easter Stu.
You seem almost angry at Puidgdemont and, to be honest, a little snarky about Sanchez for opening a door for him. Perhaps you could explain your views a bit more? I'm keen to gain insights on this subject.
It is going to be a huge problem as Pigdemont ( purposely) wants to call all the shots . Sanchez will be a very sorry man when his plan backfires
Puigdemont is a criminal. Anyone who isn't "angry" about this case should explain.
In the Sixties I worked in Germany with a young girl from Spain, but if asked if she was Spanish her eyes would fire up, her heels do a quick staccato on the floor, her chin would lift and she would exclaim "Catalan !"
I know how she felt, I´m a Lancastrian, -- Lancashire being a Duchy, could technically gain independence from the sh**y south, and has even less chance than Cataluña.
But I am also a grateful immigrant in this fantastic country, so I keep my political mouth shut in the pueblo.
My nearest neighbour is a Gitane --- now if ANYONE could talk politics ...
He knows better, and grows vegetables.

I remember two decades ago that the whispering among some circles was that Telefonica and El corte ingles helped the state avoid bankruptcy. Probably the same BS as the jam of Luis Miguel 😂. But from that point of view would be returning the favor hehe.
10% in Telefonica isn't a lot that leaves 90% in the hands of private investors... Tony cuenca
Stu, did you know your comments in one of your videos about expats moving to Spain has been reported on the GBNews website. The title of the article is called "'Absolutely sucks': Expat lists three 'negative aspects' about living in Spain that Britons should know before moving". They report that you say the Spanish are unfriendly and the job market is crap.
They are migrants not expats.
Just my 2 cents on the matter, Spain is a soviet block. Everyone works for the ayuntamiento
so wrong
@@dancarden72 In Spain, you need an appointment to get an ID. 1 year to get a DL. I ain’t comparing the US to Spain. But take for example Colombia vs Spain as a local. Which I’m both, need an ID in Col, walk in the same day. DL a month and a half later in Col. Need Spanish citizenship? Wait 10 years, meanwhile 5 years in Colombia. But all means go to Spain. Just saying it’s a soviet block imo
Gracias por el vídeo Stuart don’t think Mr Sanchez gives a flying f K as long as he is captain of the vessel
The people of Cataluyna should decide their future.
RE SQUATTERS. The State of Florida just passed a series of laws making squatting illegal. Perhaps other States and Countries will follow suit. 😊
Florida is light-years ahead of anything EU can offer 😂
😊
It's your holiday money.
The reason why Madrid and the EU Dictatorship won't allow Catalonia to have Independence is Catalonia is the region with the second-highest GDP, after Madrid, accounting for 19% of Spain's total GDP. With a population of 8 million inhabitants (16.4% of the Spanish population)
You really think the EU cares about a few euros less paid by Spain?
If any of that were true then they wouldn't have let UK leave. Don't worry so much about these big adult conversations, worry more about where you're getting your info sources. Everyone votes, these are democracies. EU isn't fully a political entity yet anyway - they hasn't been out up for vote yet anyway. Losing in democracy doesn't mean you've been dictated to, it means your politics are the politics of losers and need to sort yourself out accordingly.
@@subcitizen2012 The EU dictatorship tried every trick in the book including threats to keep the UK as a vassal state but real democracy allowed a vote and the result was Brexit
The government in Madrid just doesn’t want to lose the tax revenue…and the government fears that other autonomous regions with their own distinct language and culture may want to follow suit.
EIREEXIT & ESPANAEXIT 💚💚❤❤
No Eireexit ! I’m Irish
Mr Puigdemont may have negative consequences for the Spanish speaking people of Spain, but Mr Puigdemont is a politician and as such, he represents the people who vote for him. Those people are not Spanish, they are Catalans, and they live in Catalonia and would prefer to have their own country. And what is wrong with that?
Boycott Catalonia as a tourist.arresst that loon, division in any country is very dangerous.ill be in Spain in a couple of weeks, and smoking on the beach. Not as dangerous as broken bottles in the sand, nails, bottle tops.
