Hi Brenda, I make my sauce the same except I put basil and sugar in it. I think ur an excellent cook and a kind and smart woman. Thank you for everything you do.
Looks delicious! I do add a can of tomato paste. I learned from an italian cook in boston! It helps keep the water from separating in the sauce. Also, a few shakes of red pepper flakes. I love your energy and great cooking tips and recipes. Thank ❤you
HI Brenda I LOVE your videos every day I watch your videos. I use my leftover pasta sauce to make chili you are a wonderful person I enjoy you your recipes & stories. GOD BLESS YOU
my grandmother always used cast iron pans but not cook spaghetti sauce, she was a wonderful cook and my mother,I love to cook I make different dishes all the time,I take after my grandma and my mom❤
Looks delicious Miss Brenda 😋 I always add some sugar to mine to cut the acidity of the tomatoes… that’s a big controversy point, I say if you like it do it, if not don’t. My daughter hates oregano I love it… if I know she’ll be eating it I use marjoram instead.
Brenda, I love all of your videos but I have to say, in this case, time is key. The sauce should simmer for a minimum of 45 minutes but it's better if it simmers longer. The sauce should no longer be bright red but should have a somewhat brown appearance. That's how you know the tomato sauce/tomatoes are fully cooked and the spices have given all they have to the sauce. Now, if someone wants to have a "fresh" tasting pasta sauce they can certainly cook it for less time but it will not have the deep, complex flavor profile of a long-cooked sauce. Just my first generation American (Italian heritage) two cents worth. 😃
I agree, my family is from Northern Italy 🇮🇹 my gramma or Nona would use beef pork ribs and Italian Sausage. All fresh herbs. It simmers all day. It's the best sauce or gravy you have ever tasted. I've had the pleasure of traveling to Italy when I was a flight attendant. Some of my moms side are still there. Great food for ever❤
My mother couldn't cook much, but she made the best spaghetti sauce! Very similar to yours except she added tomato paste as well. I taught all 3 of my daughters to make it. Their friends are amazed as many of them were raised on canned/jarred spaghetti sauce.
I use to put oil in my pasta water until I dated an Italian and his mother said it doesn't prevent sticking and only makes the pasta slippery so that sauce won't adhere. My mother would add a bit of sugar, basil as well as oregano, bay leaves and.....my favorite.....anise seed. I think she came up with her own concoction😊
Hey miss Brenda I put a couple tablespoons for sugar in mine, as j find the tin tomatoes are abit sour. I also put a few drops of Worcestershire sauce. Give it a try and see what you think 😊
I never use oil to cook my pasta. The sauce will not stick very well to the noodles, drain your noodles but save about a cup of pasta water. Mix your noodles in with the sauce and pasta water, then add your Parmigiano Reggiano and mix it well before serving.
Brenda I make your spaghetti sauce all the time I make enough that it feeds me two times I freeze half of it and eat it for 3 days it's the greatest recipe I could find you're the greatest friend again
I add cut up red paper, zucchini, and grated carrots or fine chopped into my tomato sauce and simmer for at least an hour. Serve with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and garlic toast! ☺️🇨🇦. Pour 1/2 cup of sherry or red wine in also if you have.
I got the same garlic lol… I reuse it from my big member marks from Sams… it’s just easier to handle for I use it a lot. We like it meaty! Sometimes I add 1/4-1/21b of hot sausage to 1-2 lbs of hamburger. Just hot country or Bass farms! Ground Andouille is where it’s at if can afford it. And don’t forget that yummy garlic bread… ummm I’m hungry got to go love all y’all
Never put oil in the noodle pan ,also fresh mushrooms, not from a can.I do not use much from a can at all, especially making home made sauce,I learned from the real Italian.I love you though, you doing anyway you want .It is gonna be good 👍🥰
I like your idea of 'washing' your meat. I also put oil in with my noodles but I just use a spoon of the grease I drain off my meat. Otherwise I make my spaghetti sauce almost exactly like you. I love mushrooms in my sauce, but don't often have a bell pepper to add.
My kids didn’t like chicks of onions or bell peppers so I told them it had none but I lied it had it just very fine chopped and when simmered enough that disappeared into the sauce. They didn’t even know . Did thus with meatloaf too back then .. but now I like chunks
Brenda we also simmer our spaghetti sauce for several hours also my sister has crowns, red sauce isn't good for her so we tone down the tomatoes for her.❤thank you for sharing this recipe with us.
I was thinking you had mentioned to not use tomatoes or juice as the acid messes up the seasoning of cast iron. I'm trying to watch that now, but I cook about anything in mine. I'm not using it as much as I was since I got a glass stove top now.
Looks delicious. I add a touch of sugar too, but I also add a small can of drained sliced black olives just for look of it. Makes the sauce feel chunky. The grandkids like it.
Make spaghetti bake with your leftovers. Pasta in a baking dish, sauce on top of pasta and smother with mazarella cheese, then bake in the oven. Its delicious.
It's me again Brenda I watched your video do you ever add tomato paste with the other cans of tomatoes and chopped tomatoes petite. Sure would like to know I've always use tomato paste in with mine

I always put a little sugar in to..tocut that acid taste. And I never add oil to my pasta. Cuz the sauce slides right off..
I make my spaghetti same way..I love it..God Bless Brenda..Love and prayers..❤😊🙏

Your right though
That’s what she said. She simmered for several hours
@@mariannewilliams260 yes and that’s why leftover spaghetti tastes better ! All them good spices coming together . Delicious 😋

Love this sauce recipe & all else that you cook, Brenda! You’re the best & I like mushrooms, too!
I love adding sweet basil also
Tomato sauce and petite diced tomatoes
Cast iron and tomatoes?
Brenda will the tomatoes cooked in cast iron cause the iron residue leak into the sauce
I never cook acid food in my cast iron
And no oregano
You're delightful!
I made sauce last week and let it simmer all day. Then made lasagne. It was wonderful!
This video is very good, as usual, with Brenda Gantt. ❤
Love it
My mother couldn't cook much, but she made the best spaghetti sauce! Very similar to yours except she added tomato paste as well. I taught all 3 of my daughters to make it. Their friends are amazed as many of them were raised on canned/jarred spaghetti sauce.

Good morning Brenda!!!

Hey Ms. Brenda you are an energetic superwoman thanks for sharing. Yummy 😋 food demonstrations.
I add a little crushed red pepper flakes.
Hey miss Brenda I put a couple tablespoons for sugar in mine, as j find the tin tomatoes are abit sour. I also put a few drops of Worcestershire sauce. Give it a try and see what you think 😊
🙌🏽
Your spaghetti sauce look very delicious it look good
Looks fantastic
I add mushrooms and some red pepper flakes. Yum
I never use oil to cook my pasta. The sauce will not stick very well to the noodles, drain your noodles but save about a cup of pasta water. Mix your noodles in with the sauce and pasta water, then add your Parmigiano Reggiano and mix it well before serving.
To get grease out of your hamburger pan. I use paper towels. It works really good
Looking Good!!! ❤❤❤❤
Brenda I make your spaghetti sauce all the time I make enough that it feeds me two times I freeze half of it and eat it for 3 days it's the greatest recipe I could find you're the greatest friend again
Im sure its delizioso 🇮🇹
I add cut up red paper, zucchini, and grated carrots or fine chopped into my tomato sauce and simmer for at least an hour. Serve with fresh grated Parmesan cheese and garlic toast! ☺️🇨🇦. Pour 1/2 cup of sherry or red wine in also if you have.
Real Italians never put oil in the cooking water, because it prevents the sauce from clinging to the pasta.
My grandkids would love that
Most of the time I add Italian sausage along with some oregano. Yours looks tasty also.
We add a Tablespoon of. Wilshire sauce to our Spaghetti Sauce Miss Brenda you might want to try that sometime
Never put oil in the noodle pan ,also fresh mushrooms, not from a can.I do not use much from a can at all, especially making home made sauce,I learned from the real Italian.I love you though, you doing anyway you want .It is gonna be good 👍🥰

Looks yummy! That will be an awesome lunch. Garlic bread Wii be scrumptious with the spaghetti.😊😊😊
I love watching your videos you are so sweet
Tomatoes in cast iron , never at my house
I make it exactly that way!
I like your idea of 'washing' your meat. I also put oil in with my noodles but I just use a spoon of the grease I drain off my meat. Otherwise I make my spaghetti sauce almost exactly like you. I love mushrooms in my sauce, but don't often have a bell pepper to add.

I add a little sugar for acid it reduces it
Good morning Brenda from Stockton California
I add powdered fennel seeds to my sauce, oh my goodness it’s delicious!
Also, instead of sugar or red wine I put about a tablespoon of good grape jelly
You are a great coik
You are great cook😅
You are a great cook
Marinara sauce makes a very good starter base for that.
I love mushrooms any way you do them. But Im sorry I cannot stomach canned mushrooms.
Have you ever put chopped carrots in spaghetti sauce. It is so good
I add a little sugar for the acidicity
Hi Brenda I use garlic powder and organino
Brenda celery , more bell pepper or the sweet bell peppers, plenty onions , please do not leave out celery
I’m making potato casserole with a squash and green pepper and two onions
I find the longer I can let it simmer, the metal taste from the canned tomatoes dissipates.
Hey Brenda, Viola from Windsor, nc
I was thinking you had mentioned to not use tomatoes or juice as the acid messes up the seasoning of cast iron. I'm trying to watch that now, but I cook about anything in mine. I'm not using it as much as I was since I got a glass stove top now.
Never knew put water in get grease out good idea
Looks delicious. I add a touch of sugar too, but I also add a small can of drained sliced black olives just for look of it. Makes the sauce feel chunky. The grandkids like it.
Add no sugar tomatoes have their own. My Aunt did that one time… well it upset our tummy’s but the olives got to try!
Where did you get your favorite knife or where can I get one.
I love cast iron to cook in !
I, too, like lots of onion and bell peppers in my sauce! For some reason I wasn't subscribed today...so I fixed that!
Love the sauce!?
Make spaghetti bake with your leftovers. Pasta in a baking dish, sauce on top of pasta and smother with mazarella cheese, then bake in the oven. Its delicious.
I add about a table spoon of sugar to cut the acid taste so my granddaughter will eat it she doesn't like to taste the tom!tomatoes
If you add some Italian sausage you could turn it into sauce for your lasagna.
I add a few forkfuls of sauerkraut to all my tomato based sauces.
It's me again Brenda I watched your video do you ever add tomato paste with the other cans of tomatoes and chopped tomatoes petite. Sure would like to know I've always use tomato paste in with mine
I use stew tomatoes
Adding oil to pasta water make the sauce not stick to pasta.
I like your recipe but i also like a lot of basil in mine, probably more than oregano.
I tilt My Pan and use a paper towel to soop up my Grease
I use ground turkey instead of beef for health reasons
My mother in law was italian n she put in 1 small tomato paste n no tomatoes n 1 can tomato sauce
I've never used tomato sauce, I like the tomato paste because it's not as sweet plus it's thicker
I would never cook spaghetti that long. I would cook after church.
We are so fr away
Brenda I have always thrown one noodle and it sticks to the cabinet it's ready this is true
It’s in the oven let’s see how it turns out.
Not Brenda’s channel
Make some Homemade Garlic Bread
Ms. Brenda, love yor show," when I can find You! Please,❤ report people," who are steeling your Site! It's a sin, so upsetting to your Viewers! ❤😢N.J.
Looks good you all but I would add a can of tomato paste instead of that extra can of tomatoes.
It's healthy when you buy the 90 percent hamburger meat no grease
If you'd use ground turkey youvwill not have all that fat and you will not be able to tell the difference in taste. I use it in spaghetti and chili.
I don’t watch on Facebook. Not everyone watches on Facebook. Some of us watch on CZcams. Acknowledgment would be nice. 😊
I think maybe this was recorded before she was doing CZcams and I am sure she appreciates her CZcams viewers as well.
Miss Brenda I wish I could talk to you❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That knife looks like it could cut off a finger.
