Way too many to name, but start with Mark Gonzales, Tom Penny, John Cardiel, Frankie Hill, Ed Templeton, Jamie Thomas, Geoff Rowley and Andrew Reynolds- and that's barely scratching the surface of pre-2000's street skaters. The pros nowadays like Nyjah Huston, Grant Taylor and Riley Hawk are continuing to push street skating to previously unforeseen levels.

This got me into skating back in 2002. I was 7 years old in Chicago in 1998 and my neighbor who I looked up to, this older kid, got a skateboard. I always wanted to copy him so I asked my parents for one. As most kids do I was hyped on it for a week or so then the board just sat around. Years later I had a PS1 demo disc featuring THPS2 and liked the game enough to ask for THPS3 on X-Mas. I wasnt trying to skate at all, just liked the games. Then I saw this video and it changed my life. I was so hyped on it I immediately went to my backyard to the shed to dig out my old board and as soon as my mom and dad came home from work I made them sit down and watch this. In that very moment I became a skater. I quickly picked up riding and eventually in summer 2002 during a trip to Florida my dad got me my first real skateboard, an element with destructo trucks and 53mm element wheels from Vans. Today at age 31, I still love skating and although I got a bad injury years ago and can no longer do it, I have amassed a skateboard collection worth 20K. Skateboarding still takes up most of my time and most of my life is still based on it. I regret to say out of my whole collection I dont own any Rodney boards. I heavily gravitated toward other brands and skaters after he got me into skating. But I'll never forget Rodney and what he did for me. Thank you Rodney Mullen.

Watching him IRL is like when your playing Tony Hawk (Pro Skater 4 and beyond) and you pull off 20+ trick 500,000 point combos, mostly with freestyle, and you think, "O.K. this is where the realism stops, no one can do that..." OH WAIT NO A REAL PERSON DOES THAT AND HIS NAME IS FUCKIN RODNEY MULLEN.
