Rodney Mullen: *Gazing into Tony Hawk's eyes, genuinely thrilled to see him again*
Tony Hawk: "So why do you suck so bad?"
LMAO!
Damn. I wasn't prepared for that comment. ItĆ 4 a.m. and I'm pretty sure the neighbours called the cops on me (again) for bursting into a 2 minute laugh/cry seizure (again)
That was like kicking a puppy when it comes to greet you
@@discofoxxy Seizures aren't healthy, man. Especialy if the police shows up.
Even you have better stats
I love Rodney Mullen so much, what a wholesome, beautiful human being.
Heâs the kinda guy I wanna invite to my backyard barbecue
@@moraj3764 hes like the nicest guy ever, seriously ive met him
As a kid I always assumed the Kickflip was some ubiquitous thing as old as the skateboard itself, when I found out he invented it in the 90s it blew my mind
No doubt man...seems like just one of the most genuine people on this planet, not to mention one of the greatest skaters of all time...his humility is refreshing to see these days.
The best street skater to walk the earth
Rodney is genuinely the closest to a Skate God there could be. Inventing almost every flip trick, having been such an inspiration for so many, while always being so wholesome, humble and genuine. The GOAT.
him and tom penny
I swear that when Rodney thanked Tony for organizing this my eyes got watery. A big part of my childhood rests with these guys! Would have loved to see Thomas, Reynolds, Lasek, Burnquist and Rowley though.
Bucky and Bob were great. I was impressed Bob could skate goofy or regular no problem. Remember when Bob accidentally ran into Shaun White in vert doubles?
It irritates me that instead of those guys they got Jack Black. Who has zip to do with the original games. Also not to be THIS guy but... Literally asking about clothes is pretty pandering
i agree, would have love to seen reynolds and rowley. then again i have a bias for street skaters like mullen more.
u could feel the love in his words
sAme here i started cryiong with rodney he is so beautiful
Rodney is such a nice guy man brings a smile to my face every time I see him in any interview. Love that guy.
I meet him last fall, one of the most humble and gracious guys ever. I told him that he inspired me to start skating and you could tell it made his day, even though heâs probably heard that a thousand times
A little too nice.. great man overall
Literally the most humble guy ever ever
Yeah, he seems like such a loveable, down to earth, kind soul. Rodney is great!
just commented the same, then deleted when recognised you were faster :D
Rodney Mullen is the absolute most down to earth innocent humble awkward guy in the world yet remains the best skateboarder in the world. What a guy.
@Ghost Enybodykiller then how do you explain easter?
@Ghost Enybodykiller Jesus existed. He was just a con man/cult leader
@Ghost Enybodykiller well there's evidence and documentation of places he visited in his life so he did live on this planet. But like i said he was a con artist. The greatest con artist in history
@Ghost EnybodykillerI'm claiming he was a human who existed and nothing more. You're right that things get distorted through history. I believe from my own research that he existed. However, no, i don't believe he was a Messiah ot the Son of God or whatever. I was raised in church but as I've gotten older and with how many religions out there that exist. I don't know what's true and what's bullshit and maybe it's all bullshit. But i try to respect people's beliefs or non belief.
Rodney is my church
Mullen is the most genuine, down to earth, kind human being I've ever witnessed.
He always seems to have a sparkle of joy in his eyes, like he still can't believe he's able to skate full time like he always wanted, while being the most legendary name in all of street skating.
I probably watched Rodney Mullens video at least 1000x, I couldn't believe how amazing he was, it didn't compute how he defied gravity... He still amazes me to this day!

My mind couldnât comprehend how someone could do a handstand on a skateboard, flip the board, land primo, and then flip out. It was literal sorcery to me.
I came here for nostalgia not to almost cry watching Rodney almost cry.
rodney almost cries every time he talks from the passion seeping out of him
Seems like such a cool, humble guy!
Seriously, Rodney's passion in everything he does is enviable I love it
@Mike G i really love slobbering on a big throbbing veiny coc k. as a grown man, i feel like its my right to cuddle with my man and grind up against him until i feel that bulge press against my cheeks
@@Rhapbus1 So, I was reading these comments and fucking died with laughter when I got to the end of these replies. LOL. Jesus bro, you deserve heaven just for your efforts tonight!
You can just feel the pure excitement in Rodney's voice whenever he talks to Tony. This is a man that loves what he does so much and that just adores the friends he's made because of it.
He talks so highly of the other skaters. Crazy considering heâs the best one in the group (for the most part). He loved the community and all they done together and just seems so happy to have taken part.
Gotta love Rodney! An amazing human being â€ïž
His happines and genuine personality is something to envy.
He's got a weird vibe
@@brandonw6139 being genuine and happy is weird and that's sad lol
Even though Rodney is one of the stars, you can tell he truly felt the way fans felt out of all of them. "Thank you so much for bringing us together." It's like the people who love this game were projected through him. Truly an amazing person.
Kareem Campbell is such a legend to me as a Black skater đčđȘđŸ I know he inspired a lot of us seeing him in the game shredding đđŸ
iâm white and i play him a lot, heâs super coolđ
Rodney is so wholesome, just a clearly infectiously happy person to be around.
Steve is too
You should watch Rodney's TED talk
I got the impression he wanted to have a genuine talk and Tony's like sorry man I gotta ask you a stupid question for this CZcams channel.
@@realtonestar4342 he seems very awkward and uncomfortable in his own skin, despite also seeming very lovely
The rumor has always been aspergers. Whatever it is. Heâs got a beautiful mind for real. Fascinating
Rodney Mullenâs stats were the worst because he is a legend and they wanted to make playing with him harder.
Yeah, otherwise there'd be no reason to have any other character.
Only character I ever used anyways lol
I feel like everyone wouldve had lower stats then...
He's still my first pick when revisiting those old games.
Dude legit invented half of the most well known tricks.
Rodney's style is as mindblowing today as it was when I was a kid. Truly an artist - and seems to be a great person too. Always loved him.
Chad always seems like he's living the best life. Dude is always so happy.
I remember being a broke kid in Jersey, skating everyday with my homie Eric. He used to laugh at me so much because my skateboard held with duct tape. Then one day The Muska pulled up in a black SUV after a demo at our local park and threw me his board, wished me a merry christmas (?) and drove off in the sunset. One of my most cherished childhood memories.
Too bad about how things turned out with Eric, though
Dude thats awesome! I remember skating in jersey when a black van pulled up and abducted me, then I was threatened with a chainsaw
Funny, I have the same memories. Crazy.
Youâre the guy from THUG. In the park
That's totally a fever dream. Muska's SUV was white.
Rodney Mullen is one of the most humble and all around good person. I met him one time when I was a young skater at a small skate park. He was nice to every single skater, spent time talking to all of us, cheered for people that landed a solid tricks, gave trick tips to all of us, gave out free stuff. Mind you this wasn't a paid for event, just bumped into him. He is just a genuine nice guy, that really cares about the next generation of skateboarders. My dad was there and it totally changed his perception of skateboarders (this was before it was mainstream). As well it is something I still remember to this day, 15 years later.
Tony and Mike V came to my local park years ago and the police chased them off. It was bs
Beautiful dude đ€
@@sick6nightmare I don't get them chasing off the Hawk, however as a long time Mike V fan, I can totally understand why they may have chased him off lmao
@@Admiral_Potato41 their reasoning was because they showed up and gathered a huge group without contacting the city first. I don't even think the sheriff knew who hawk was lol
Thatâs an awesome story and Iâve got no reason to doubt it as itâs fucking Rodney Mullen after all. Dudes too humble and kind for this world
Dude Rodney looks so happy to be there, Iâve missed him so much
Rodney Mullen is amazing. Dude is all smiles and is one of the best skaters to ever exist.
Dude. When Rodney comes in he's literally genuinely excited to be with the gang. So happy.. What an amazing experience to witness.
Rodney Mullen is such a genuine soul. Its always so good to see him on screen.
Daniel Simpson So true mate! Heâs a real one, lots of respect for him
Aw, Rodney... "Thank you so much for bringing us all together" bringing the boys back, a revisit to the day. â€ïžâ€ïž Good on all of you. Rodney bless that kind heart of yours.
The genuine mutual respect between Tony and Rodney is the best thing ever
you can tell that rodney enjoys the meeting so much. so wholesome
Viá»t An Yes
For real, there's literally zero drama in the skate community, just guys who love being around eachother no matter how many years pass by in between
I adore seeing all the love for Rodney in the comments. Heâs the absolute best and such a good soul. When art meets skateboarding.
What he has and continues to do is exactly that. When i saw his "tape" from the games.. I noticed he was always the one covered in street dirt and god knows what lol his dedication and the love he has for skating is.. Well.. It's him.. They gotta make a movie about him.. "The Skater: The life of Rodney Mullen"... Or something.. Or.. A series of movies based off the Bones Brigade crew..
Why does he sound like that though?
@@BAGAKOOS â why does Tony talk like that, why does chad talk like that, why does jack black talk like that, why does Kareem talk like that⊠everybody is different đ€Šđżââïž
ââ@@BAGAKOOS He embodies a lot of traits seen in people with high functioning autism, and that might have been something that helped drive him to focus so intensely on Skateboarding.
That could be why he has such an eccentric personality as well.
Much love for Rodney, the GOAT.
I donât know if there is a more humble happier person on this planet than Rodney Mullen. This man is always in a good mood
When I first played THPS and knew very little about skateboarding culture or pro skateboarders, I watched the tapes of all the skaters and was so amazed, but when I got to Rodney Mullen I literally couldnât believe what I was seeing. Then I go on to find he invented the modern day skateboard and damn near every flat ground trick there is. So I think âwow, this guy probably has every right to be prideful or full of himself for all that heâs doneâ and then I watch interviews of him and itâs immediately obvious that heâs one of the most selfless and humble people ever, and without a doubt in his field. Give him his flowers while heâs here, he goes up and above the title of legend and letâs be grateful that he was born in the era of film and cameras because thereâs no way people would believe what heâs done otherwise.
Lets all just appreciate the fact that Kareem came out of hibernation and is blessing us with footage
I actually thought he had died

Indeed, solid G
But he was also clearly joking about "the D"
also, G is the 5th of D, so it can mess up some people's ears?

It was so nice to see Rodney Mullen again. That man remains an inspiration to me as a human being as much today as he was 20 years ago in back in school.
Him and Mullen looks like a simple friendly conversation, but Tony is actually talking to his biggest inspiration
But yet... it looks like it's the other way around lol
â@@Brandon2940 It's both, probably. Mullen has talked about how Tony could have gone off and just made all this money alone, but instead he brought all his friends along for the ride and shared the limelight as THPS made skating mainstream and turned these skaters into household names. Tony's a great dude, and a humble dude; there's real mutual respect there.
Hawk is a fan of Mullen because of what he did for the artistic aspect of skateboarding.
Mullen is a fan of Hawk because of what he did for the social aspect of skateboarding.
They are both very smart and humble, more skate nerds than skate punks and they know each other since the very early days.
Mullen just seems somewhat socially awkward, so whenever he gets to meet Hawk he's like 'hey man thanks for inviting me over' and Hawks like 'stop thanking me Rodney, people love having you around''
@@Diogenes2077 That's a great way to put it.
Mullen is definitely The Godfather of street skating. Hawk is king of vert. They both helped create the huge popularity together. But obviously Hawk and his game really did it. Someone else explained it better.
Rodney Mullen is like ecstatic. His happiness is contagious. I'm smiling and I got no effin' clue why!
His happiness exudes of the RAW filter guy

Rodney Mullen is such a genuine dude. Just really authentic guy who shows his emotions honestly and as they without putting up the slightest front. Very special dude - both as a skateboarder and as a person in general.

Yâall, I was 14 when this game came out. I live in the hood so to speak, but always admired offbeat things. This game changed my life, I started skateboarding because of it, and I was the only black kid I knew with a skateboard. Seeing Kareem Campbell on the game gave me the confidence to roll through my neighborhood without caring.
Although I wasnât able to continue skateboarding very long (god gave me weak af ankles), I helped inspire other kids in the neighborhood to start skateboarding. I gave my boards away to the kids in my neighborhood and watched them do tricks I could never imagine doing. THPS changed the whole dynamic of what it meant to be a minority skateboarder, I am so grateful this game was around in my life.
Plus, THPS was dope on my Sega Dreamcast... seriously, one of Dreamcast best games ever.

Rodney Mullen was always my favorite pro skater to choose in THPS2, always wondered why his stats were THAT low lol I guess in the end it didn't matter since you got to level up the stats the more you progressed đč
Chad Muska was my best choice for thps
Mullen Stats had high, Rail Balance, Manual and Ollie, switch are the most important stats in the game...
Exactly he literally made street skating popular
@@gbasso666 That was my literal thought.. I always thought he was the best character to start with since his stats were the best to combo with, Air tricks in thps1 and 2 were worthless. Funny considering Tony is the vert god and the game is named after him yet vert sucks ass lol.
@Matt G Mullen was the first to do a flat-ground Ollie and like 90% of the tricks used in street. He may not have made street popular but he did make it possible.

James M I have a theory sponsored athletes get sponsored not just because theyâre good but because theyâre good people. There are plenty of great athletes that are complete jerks and companies donât want that kind of person representing them.
If you think about it though, very few of these people were making buckets of money like Tony, theyâre skating because they love it and have such a passion for it. People that have that much passion are usually pretty great.
Corey and tony has changed all their lives Iâm sure. with the game. Given them a ton of exposure and I would guess enough money to not have to worry too much.

Itâs crazy to think of how influential Rodney Mullen is... he basically invented street skating and yet such a humble dude.. legend
I feel like the true reason for Rodneyâs low stats is making him the most realistic character. He isnât buffed by stats with any sort of assistance you have to make due with what you have, the true essence of Rodneyâs skating!
Balance is the most important thing for combos and Rodney has it all, since he's the king of manual tricks
I don't remember Rodney's stats being that low although his vert stats were below average I guess but Manual, Rail and Ollie were among the best if not the best.
I was the producer on the commercial for the very first game. Still one of my all time favorite projects. I remember Reilly totally ripping. I still have the board Tony rode and signed for me hanging up in my house. That game was so fun.
Rodney/Jack is literally the reason why I can have a real smile on. Rodney literally the most humble. Jack being one of the funniest dudes who's always amused me through through the movies he's in.
