After 10-years of selling the SA series we upgraded every part that ever failed for any reason for the all-new v2. The result is a much more rugged woofer that will work in basically the same enclosure sizes as the old SA series while also providing less distortion over a broader mechanical excursion window. They will carry a full 1000-watt RMS rating. The 12" prototype finish is black but they will all be chrome on production. Motor boots will also be tooled for production.
List of upgrades compared to the v1 SA series:
1) Magnet outer diameter increased from 180mm to 190mm
2) Magnet slugs increased from 25mm to 27mm in height (total 4mm more height)
3) Motor structure fully bolted together with 3x M6 bolts (eliminates the possibility of motor shifting)
4) Top-Plate "Slits" implemented as with the X and Z series. Increased cooling & reduced distortion.
5) Improved gap venting -- more / flared gap vents.
6) Improve pole-vent design -- smoothly flared on both sides.
7) Coil increased from 63.5mm (2.5") to 70mm (2.75") in diameter. Higher thermal capacity.
8) New "U series" style cast-aluminum frame for taller cones (more x-mech both top-side from cone to spider and bottom from spider to top plate)
9) Aluminum cast gasket to bolt-on surround.
10) Aluminum cast vent ring to enhance thermal transfer from motor to the frame.
11) Standard with double "XL" leads and "bolted-on" spider
12) Larger and thicker surround (same tooling as U series).
13) Strongest paper cones we have ever produced... new two-piece mold technique that we will expand to other cones in the future.
14) "Large Flange" dust cap just like our larger woofers. Essentially eliminates dust-cap glue failure.
15) Larger spider diameter on the 12/15" models (the 10" retains the same 188mm spider)... 12" up to ~200mm and 15" up to ~210mm
16) Improved spider material -- same "hybrid" material sandwich that we implemented on the Rev.4 of the X & Z series spiders (as well as X-8 v3)

I have been waiting for so long for these subs to drop! I'd be so grateful to get one of these being that I'm currently running an old MTX 7500 12" from a system I had 12 years ago and the surround is totally blown out. You do what you gotta do when times are hard and bass is life!

My son rocked 2- V1 12’s in his charger for a year before my wife smoked them. Just replaced them with a pair of 2ohm V2 12s.
Blew his sunroof gasket out.

I absolutely loved the v1 SA!! I had a pair of 10s and 12s!!! I would buy a 2nd one and replace my American Bass 12s. And definitely would get the dual 12 prefab box. Can’t wait to try them!!!

Never had a sundown but I'd hook it up to my elite1 and put it through a great deal of test great video much respect on pushing ground pounding equipment.
My wife has been bugging me for a subwoofer upgrade for a few weeks now, and this new SA V2 would make her real happy. Silver lining is I'll get extra points cause hers will be better than my V1's😎

I had 2 version 1 SA 10’s when I started with Sundown. I’ve been upgrading since then. Sundown is by far the best company in the car audio game. Their products are no joke. If I win the giveaway, I would give the sub to my daughter. She’s right around the corner from getting her first car and she’s just like her dad, gotta have that bass. I’d replace my v1 sa12 lol. Ran double the power on that boy for years until I burnt some tinsels up. Then proceeded to run it on one vc with about 900watts for another few months. Loved that sub

Winning the Subwoofer would allow me to become a basshead again. Was once a basshead said I was always going to have bass in my vehicle but with family and kids bass had to take a back seat. Man I was hoping this giveaway was still going to happen. I have been looking at the d4s page for months wishing I could afford two sa 12's. Then all of a sudden, BOOM, v2's. I didn't know whether to get excited or cry LOL. I have pretty much watched every single video on the sa12 I could find. If i could have won this sub my sae 1500d would finally have a match so I could use it to its full potential. Either way, I love your videos JP! Keep em coming!

JP what's good brother? Lol I wanna start by saying there's nothing like the down for sound difference! I'm a recent high school graduate class of 2019. And I haven't had bass since my sophomore year of school. One of my class mates decided to turn all my gains and crossovers to the right causing my first system ever to clip everything out! So back to stock stereo it was, and still to this day... it would be a blessing to any bass head to win this give away! I would start from scratch again starting from the head unit all the way to the enclosure. Not to mention everything will be purchased from down for sound! But any way I've typed enough to the man JP himself and the rest of the basshead brothers and sisters have a good day, and don't forget to full tilt on em!

Man in ordered the profab box with SA12’s in it tuned to 32hz, omg, it’s in my 2021 Kia Stinger GT and it being a hatchback on top of it all, it slams so hard. Shit is crazy. When my window is cracked the lows like on Jeezy put on , make shit flex like no other . Slappppppin

I already have a box and an amp ready to go. this would be my 4th SA sub if i won. blew out an SA10 running a D2 at 1 ohm on a SK3500.1. so I replaced it with 2 D4 running at 1 ohm and they take it like a champ. would love to have a 12 in the ride.

I would love that SA15 been waiting for them to come out since i saw derek testing it on his channel. Saving to buy one for a single 15 set up, got a 95 roadmaster building a system and got an orion xtr 1500 amp waiting for something like this. If i won SA subwoofer i would set it up in my 06 single cab with the port blowing out the driver side being pushed by a RF 1000.1BD. Build a custom box of course and get my truck bumping again. My last system was stolen out of the impound yard here in Gilbert AZ. They had a fantastic response to my questioning of where my sub went. "Well we didn't notice anything when we looked over your car". Long story short subless in arizona.

Well I'm a big fan of sundown and they are under rated it. So I'm going to keep me a sundown or two for collection .
Dude this will complete my system in my Nissan hc33 laurel....have a rare Gladen 1000.1 (well in my country) I already have a box built tuned 35hz for that sa10 v1......but financial issues hit been without bass for months.....that sub and my pair of sundown sxmp 8s in my back dash and the 6.5s in my doors omg......so need this subwoofer
I'd probably have to pick up it's twin and one of those enclosures. And put them in the trunk of the daily and see how long it takes to destroy the trunk lid on the commute back and forth to work. Luckily I work at a Salvage yard and there's 6 replacements out there.

I'd put it in my 1992 chevy Beretta 1/4 wall build. I had one of the SA 12 v1 and I loved that thing. Really I'd love to do 2 sudown 15s in the build buy if I won this I'd have to do 2 12s. Keep on banging in the free world
I actually start building the stereo for my 09 Malibu I just bought and buy another one to go with put a 2000 watt Sundown amplifier start me one heck of a system and a good way to start my birthday that's Friday

A friend of mine was heavy into car audio a few years ago. She moved up here and i met her. We hit it off almost instantly. She has no beats. I have 2 SA15 rev 2. If i won 2 of the v2 15s, i would hand her both of my rev 2s in a beautifully gift wrapped box. I would build her a new custom enclosure also. But i would need 2 of the v2s to replace mine. Dont need an empty hole in my box.
This sub would be great for my audio project build on my van, I have always loved Sundown audio and felt it should be shown to people in southern africa(Botswana). The only reason I have not owned one is because I am still looking for money to buy it as exchange rate is a problem(BWP10= $1). Winning the sub would greatly help and get me closer to my goal of a banging sound system. I'm sure if many people here were to see the sub in action they would order them.
