They say timing is important in telling a joke but with Gilbert he also had a persona that he got into in performing. Most comedians tell a joke for the content but Gilbert was a character telling a joke. I delved into his videos and discovered that the real Gilbert was a soft-spoken man, who was kind, considerate, and accommodating ...a truly sweet man....but boy can he tell an uninhibited crass jokes. And that's a high compliment I think he would appreciate. RIP Gilbert.
Gilbert never did the cookie cutter interview ever. He's hilarious. Gone too soon. No-one can make me laugh harder than Gilbert. When he's doing improv stuff was always the funniest.

When Gilbert did "Count Dracula" bit on Stern's show, I was heading to work that morning, was already late, and had to pull over on the side of the road....I couldn't catch my breath!! He's one of the few comedians that still has that effect on me!!

You know when someone is really really funny by the fact that THEY them-self are cracking up with the people in the room. Even Gilbert couldn't contain himself with this rant. He lost it at 3:50. Not only His comedy, but also his laughter, is so contagious that you cannot watch a second without cracking up or smiling throughout.

Gilbert has been practicing his comedy a long time and though no comedian always gets it done right, this is an example of perfect comedy given his situation. But in this comment, I mainly wanted to draw attention to viewers of the laughter coming from behind the cameral, the rest of the crew. There is a lot of laughing going on within this show's crew. And it's not 'polite' laughing, it's genuine, appreciative, seriously amused laughter. It all adds up to Gilbert being one of the best comics in America, maybe the best currently.
