Imagine you step in front of a national audience with a felon on one side of you, a famous talk show host who's a comedian and actor and you spontaneously take over the show and without exception get them, the show staff and the audience to continually start laughing nonstop with an unrehearsed improvisation. Gilbert does that habitually. Personal Addition: April 20, 2022 I am going to miss Gilbert. Been a week or so since he passed. I didn't want to think about his death, so I've distracted myself by other means. But to think I'll never hear him again, his great talent with new material is very sad. My only consolation is my belief that life never dies, that we've always been a Cosmos of conscious entities. Meaning one day I'll find the spirit and life force of Gilbert and enjoy him again. Till then, my spirit is Earth bound.
I always loved Gilbert and it’s times like this that I really appreciate You Tube and the people that take time to post these wonderful clips. In the last week I’ve seen more incredible Gilbert clips and I’m going to watch the 2017 Gilbert documentary.

With the exception of John Candy and Rodney Dangerfield, no other comedian could make me laugh like Gilbert Gottfried. I'm still having a hard time accepting that he's passed away. RIP Gilbert.

I loved Robin Williams, but Gilbert was more like a racier version of Groucho Marx. Both Gilbert and Groucho consistently had quips which were more relevant and tended to contain a higher comedic value.
@ronnie9807 Your analysis is spot on. Robin had great energy, but both Groucho and Gilbert could consistently come up with lines that had more substance.
amazing how scoiety can elevate celebs to certain levels even though they have been in prison, and i love Gilbert for calling it like it is..good for him..such a shame noone does that anymore among celebs..or very few and when they do people try to get them cancelled quick as a whip......."he might have gotten bitten by a parrot once...leave him alone" wow..he was non stop from the moment he got on stage.......genius
Comedy is supposed to be crude, because its always a satirical point of view ... its also a display that you can talk about things we already know as a society, but are too afraid to really say what we truly feel because of fear of backlash, especially in todays world. You will never again have the type of comedy we had back in the 70s, 80s and 90s. Sure people can be funny still, but the essence of it is slowly fading. Wanna see crude? Watch Gilbert Roast George Takei for being gay... It was off the wall , side splitting hilarious.. and the truth is, in todays world. it would be severely offensive, but in that time , people laughed at the jokes even if they were the target.
Oh man! Problem child era Gilbert would have been so great in a movie about him in prison. I imagine him skittering away a lot like he did at the beginning.

Roc talking about not decorating his crib because he didn't want to get conditioned to prison but assaulted a correctional officer and got eight more years in prison.
Near the end of the clip, Gilbert asks, "So who did you vote for on the Elvis stamp?" In the early 90's, the Postal Service took a poll on which picture to use for an upcoming stamp - a young Elvis, or the middle-aged Elvis, who ended up being a model for millions of Elvis impersonators. (I just realized it would not be a bad idea to be a "Young Elvis" impersonator, especially since the market seems far from glutted.) One day, I was with someone doing a poll for his own local humor magazine, asking, "Young Elvis or Old Elvis?" and a mailman on the street answered, "Dead Elvis."
