- Card Walker takes us through the planning of Epcot. This film was done in 1977 as a public preview of the new Epcot Center. Features early working drawings, models and the people who made the Epcot Center theme park.

Epcot is one of my favorite parks!
It's amazing to see how World of Motion changed so much before opening, and how Horizons stayed very true to it's original concept.
The first phase of Epcot, then still called, Epcot Center was something spectacular. A kind of adult Magic Kingdom, but very diferent in concept. Today is just another park.
For some a Tourist Trap.
thanks so much for sharing this. Wonderful video. Card always seems right on the edge of having a freakout...
We're getting ready for you!
Totally based on Walt and the World's Fair. The theme music was even written by the Shermans.
I believe this film is called "EPCOT '77" and it will be shown at "Destination D: Walt Disney World 40th".
0:15 I think they just described the internet.
The Horizon song and the We're Getting Ready songs. (to clarify)
I think I recall seeing another promotional film for EPCOT from either the late 70s or early 80s that was here on CZcams before. I was more like a photographic film presentation with music in the background. I'd like to see that if it's still up.
Good video
Love the guy's suit and glasses. In the 80's and early 90's EPCOT was a well thought out and cohesive masterpiece, but lackluster/ill fitting replacement attractions wrecked it for me and just made me sadder with each new visit till I stopped going after 2000 and now just stick to Disneyland in CA. Enjoyed this glimpse into EPCOT's golden age(complete with Disneyland's Funky Peoplemover soundtrack).
Holy crap! Why have I never seen this?
I want to go!
IF IM SAYING ANYTHING, IS WELCOME BACK!, TO THE STARK EXPO!
Card's bit may have been filmed in 1977, but the construction of the(Transportation Pavilion scenery was closer to 1981
I miss Horizons. Even outdated.
Why are Disney videos becoming so popular recently
Future World?!? By the time they build it, it's History....
35 years later ... Toto ,we are not in Kansas ...
PCOT was magical in the early 1980's but a permanent Worlds Fair was a flawed concept. What was once cutting edge became outdated and the earlier ambition was replaced with more conventional rides. The design of the park is also an issue because expansion in some areas became nearly impossible. It still has tremendous sentimental value.
The term "outdated" though has been badly used regarding EPCOT. Yes, places like Communicore became outdated, but there was nothing outdated about rides like World Of Motion, Horizons etc. that couldn't have been fixed with just a little tweaking at the end. They, like Spaceship Earth which is still around, were rides that started by looking back and that doesn't become "outdated" in the least. A ride like World of Motion was no more outdated than Pirates Of the Caribbean or Haunted Mansion.
@@epaddon I completely agree about the World of Motion and Horizons. I really miss those attractions.
Yeah it's got dharma written all over it!
"flat-pack futurism"...some new ideas, but it turns out to not nearly be weird enough.
are those songs available in mp3 form anywhere? (at around the 3:00 minute mark and on)
What it turned out to be is not even CLOSE to what Walt envisioned. Was there last week and saw the film that he hosted explaining his vision. It was supposed to have houses, apartments, schools, businesses….a "community". Still, I'm sure that his ghost isn't turning it's nose up at the bucks it brings in.
Andrew Ryan
I don't remember seeing any of this at epcot
Funny I remember all of it
1:41 In the future, Mankind will communicate using a series of elaborate tubes!
I wish I was riding a dolphin in an underwater city
Was this before they had cars?
This really didn't turn out the way they hoped, did it?
I like beans
:16 prestige worldwide
i hated epcot so much. the only thing there (prior to the test track dummies) was that lame movie ride. 13 years later and i still remember it
Experimental prototype of the community of tomorrow
Could they be any more generic?
Yes, Disney, why?
The laws Disney insisted on were permission to build his own nuclear power plant ("atoms for peace") and to set up his own "city" unmolested by city and county lregulatoons
Too bad all these futuristic designs are mostly found in Dubai. We dream about them and they build them lol.
Just kidding!

It's a shame what Epcot has become.

Mostly crap. Some of it was okay. They bought, borrowed or stole from Jacques Fresco, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Isaac Asimov..great concept-givers... But...but I have even better ideas! IF You are interested CONTACT ME!
Too bad it's nothing like this
Go away -.-
Who hires a guy called Card? GTFO!
Epcot fail!
are any of the commenters on this video NOT working in the porn industry?
