In 1982, the Bell System put forth the effort to extend their large World's Fair presence of the previous decades to a more lasting installation at Walt Disney's brand-new EPCOT Center, basically a permanent World's Fair.
Spaceship Earth, inspired by Buckminster Fuller (and Montreal's Expo '67) and conceived of with the help of science fiction author Ray Bradbury, was the centerpiece of EPCOT - an enormous, 2-layer geodesic dome that later gained the nickname of the "giant golf ball". This film shows an overview of the exhibits in place at the opening - AT&T's usual "history of communications" timeline, some of which still exist at Spaceship Earth, and some of which have been updated or replaced. AT&T was proud of their contribution to the park, and promoted it throughout the company. Along with this film, they made promotional films for company executives, and even had VIP suites in Spaceship Earth where AT&T employees could host visitors.
AT&T sponsored the exhibit from it's opening to 2004. In 2005, a new corporate sponsor was found, the German company Siemens.

I was there the day EPCOT opened; can't believe it's been thirty years. I took the day off from my job working at Siemens in Boca Raton, at a plant where new telephone systems were engineered. How ironic that Siemens is now the sponsor of the exhibit!

I know my reply is 9 years later, but unfortunately, Siemens decided not to renew their sponsorship for Spaceship Earth in 2017.

at 2:42 they show the "Invention of the Wheel" scene from "World of Motion" not Spaceship Earth.

I had the privilege getting a back stage tour from Imero Fiorintino, the parks lighting designer. I recall him saying that Disney had only one specification, the light sources could not be seen by the public.

I think Dave Ensign is right about the Invention Of The Wheel scene from World Of Motion at 2:42. You can tell because the moving seats do NOT look like Spaceship Earth's seats. And the animatronics don't look like Spaceship Earth's animatronics.

Kansas King #99 Hey. Double checked a World Of Motion 1994 video and that clip at 2:42 IS the Invention Of The Wheel scene in World Of Motion. And at the last second of the World Of Motion scene you can see the wheel move.

There was a 1-person simulator type ride in the AT&T spaceship earth lounge. In it, you were shrunk down to the size of an electron and traveled through the telephone system. Do you have the film from that simulator archived?
