@@royal2852 dude, when I saw the demo, I KNEW it was going to be this way and that I wouldn't be purchasing until steep sale. The exploration seemed off and unrewarding in the demo, and I would usually cast that off knowing they will make better design choices and have you carefully loaded out to BARELY have what you need to SURVIVE, USUALLY WOULD HAVE. But knowing this was action-y and getting feelings of RE6 deja Vu, I waited, and it seems I was right, the games' encounters aren't carefully planned, they cut a ton of content just to not waste time on set pieces that wouldn't see much screen time, and it just feels like nobody ever play tested it to fine tune the experience. That defend the room shit is not fun. It's some lazy shit for sure. I think RE2 did a great job, some improvements, some drawbacks, but a lot of love put into it, a finely tuned experience where you can tell they purposefully place items for speed players, knife only players, casual players, poor players, they think that shit out so well. This title feels like they did it the hour before it was due so to speak and didn't have time for corrections. Poor decision to release by Capcom as they soiled their reputation that they were doing a decent job of unsoiling as of late. I knew 100% playing the demo that THAT would be a finished setpiece, an ACTUAL part of the game, and it felt shit, so I knew I would be waiting until it was 20 bucks or something. IDK, might wait longer now having seen some playthrough, seems meh

Exactly! That's why REmake 1 still holds the crown for the greatest remake ever, and the best Resident Evil game. It took all the original 1996 source material, and stayed incredibly faithful to it. They introduced new enemies, new areas, gave the appearances of the characters and clothing a respectable update. Gave the mansion and other areas some new textures, a fresh coat of paint and made it look hydrated. Didn't rearrange the rooms, kept fixed camera angles, door animations, made the character movements more natural and fluid etc. So much was brought together and done remarkably. A game Shinji Mikami and his development team should be proud of. Shitmake 2 and 3 on the other hand. Oh dear! Nothing but abortions, and should've been remade shortly after REmake 1.

This totally had me feeling deja vu moments of RE6, shitty, easy, unimaginative. re2 provided a solid game that was lightyears better than 6 and 7, but then they follow it with this remake which is about on that re7 level of lazy rushed design. re2 remake was a rare gem of a game amongst some pretty mediocre titles, IMO. Just feels like there was more love in it, feels like Devs played through it more and crafted a better experience. Tight level design and carefully planned encounters, not plopping a bunch of AI out in the open.

That's what I did, and because of that I was able to see just how different and how much more content there was in it to make it to what may be my absolute favorite RE game. So seeing how they changed everything great in the original was disappointing imo. Also find it weird how nobody mentions the cut "extreme battle mode".

@Nícolas Mallmann i don't know why you call people stupid when you missinterpret my whole comment. I know what a remaster is. It's not because they make a new engine that you can't have mostly the same experience. And yes it's simpler than making a whole new game. But i wasn't even talking about that, I meant it's simple to listen the fans and give us what we want instead of trying to appeal to a wider audience. Resident evil 1 on gamecube was exactly what a remake should be.

The remake turned Nemesis into a knock off Mr. X with a Hot Topic trench coat on with that tasteless caution tape on it. Nemesis cant even follow you like in the original. No, the gore isn't. It's severely downgraded. The limbs can still be blown off, but they don't sever and fall to the floor like they did in RE2R. They pop in a sploosh of blood and disappear. You can't blow a zombie in half with a shotgun anymore. Limbs won't dangle as they fall off like they did before. The visible surface damage is toned down as well. No ragdoll physics either.

They have made some genuinely good games lately: the Megaman Legacy Collection and X games were slightly inferior to their anniversary versions released over a decade ago, but only because they split the games in half(though they gave us the chance to play the amazing MM9 and 10 and the awful MMX7 and 8 once again), Monster Hunter World has been a greately succesful MMORPG and Resident Evil 7 and 2 Remake were great callbacks to the times when this games were about horror and plot and not Michael Bay and cover system in a game where it doesnt fits, but RE3R proves that Capcom is starting to remember the times when they locked your game if you werent connected to the internet, when you had to pay twice the luanch price of the game to get all the "unlockables" and when they abused of day 1 DLC by not just putting it inside the disc, but also behind a pay-wall. You know, when they cared more about money than entertainment.

It's enjoyable, but not what I'd consider a "true" remake. It didn't add anything, it actually took away content. No where close to the recommended price I would buy it, but for a sale price definitely. Resident Evil 1 Remake for the Gamecube, then remastered on PC/XBOX/PS etc, is what a true remake should be. Improved graphics, mechanics all the while adding more content compared to the predecessor.

From what I am seeing with the latest game...
*RE1 Remake:* A student who passionately gives it his all on a big art school project, even doing the work to get extra credit for it and earn 105%.
*RE2 Remake:* A student who easily does exceptionally well on certain parts and has also gathered the material to turn in a potentially even better project than the first student. But then he starts lazily cutting corners during the last week, figuring that he will still get an A- on the project and his GPA will remain the same. So why bother to finish it completely? What’s the difference between a 90% and 110% grade for the project?
*RE3 Remake:* A third student who also has a lot of talent and potential, but sees what the second one got off with and decides he can get away with even more corners cut, noticing that a C- is still technically a passing grade and only caring about that.

I know how much everyone fawned over the RE2 remake, but I think Capcom completely forgot how to effectively remake a game after the excellent first one. While it was way, way more gratuitous in 3, they butchered the stories of both. There was just something really off about the way RE2 remake told the story, to the point I enjoyed the rendition in The Darkside Chronicles way more. Still, at least they didn't cut massive, important levels from the original game.
Though, if you think the final Nemesis boss isn't challenging, play it on Nightmare or Inferno difficulty. It becomes the cheapest, most frustrating boss in RE history, even including all the ones in Code: Veronica.

One of the reasons RE4 is still so beloved is because it's movement and shooting mechanics have an incredible synergy with it's enemy design and AI. Adding strafing would mean that it's enemies would have to adopt the faster, more chaotic attack patterns of the enemies in a game like Dead Space (which has the ability to move while aiming). The enemies would then lose their wonderfully creepy and unpredictable slow, then fast attack patterns. I don't think they'd be able to resist making unnecessary and foolish changes. After all, those seem to be the biggest issues with the RE2 and 3make (other than no crimson heads. Seriously, why didn't they bring them back? They were awesome!).

I thought it would be fun to have a call out to Outbreak where a boss could have been a giant zombie elephant that Jill and Carlos had to fight. They did Marvin dirty - he deserved more of a hero's death than being simply tripped up by Zombo-Brad. Why we don't have a DLC where we can play as him in his final moments before being infected is beyond me. The map that was supposed to be a city felt very small. and 100% Nemesis should have been like Mr. X as far as being random. If you look into the concept art, you can tell the city section could have easily been twice as large. And if the same amount of supplies were spread over that amount of area, you probably still would have felt like you had too many supplies, but the possibility of not knowing if there would be would have been more stressful. Even in my first play through it felt like my primary objective was going back to the item box every five minutes to dump the materials I didn't need. Tyrell is supposedly Carlos' backup in the game, yet doesn't help that much. If the RPD scene instead had Carlos and Jill, or just Jill, we could have had a more interesting narrative, even if there were limitations with the RE2 storyline. I also think having the Umbrella scientist dead or infected earlier would have made more sense, as it doesn't go anywhere in the hospital. If the park and clock tower were involved, the game could have been much longer. And if the obvious trap of walking by clearly-not-dead Dog Nemesis didn't infect Jill, and instead she progressively showed more signs of an infection, overwhelming her as she left the clock tower, going into shock as her body tried to fight off the infection, that would have been a better excuse for Carlos to take total control and to take her to the hospital. Finally, Nikolai could have been left out completely, as it's perfectly reasonable that the Umbrella mercenary squad could have gotten overwhelmed even without a 2-dimensional traitor. RE3 wasn't great, and definitely wasn't as good as RE2, but shouldn't be considered a necessarily bad game. At least the RE Engine is easy to mod.

This was deliberately rushed, coming out only a year after RE2 Remake, and they were developing and bundling this along with RE Resistance, a multiplayer game which is unplayable with balancing issues. Also some of their game design choices for this game just seem very poor, like I'm not fond of how Jill looks in this game (considering they changed the actress model), but most people I have heard dislike this game's version of Nemesis, plus all the other stuff, but perhaps the biggest red flag has to be the lack of branching paths for multiple endings, now it's just one generic ending. I know the original RE3 will always exist but this is such a waste of a remake that had great potential, and the fact that they already want to do a remake of RE4 after this disaster of a game is unacceptable!

In 2020 you have more possibilities on the developer's part (like a more sophisticated engine) and comparably more expectations on the customer's part, especaly in graphics and game controls.
That is fine and fair, therefore a 2020 version should be far superior in that regard by default.
