      It's hard to say for a player that just turned 19, but I agree. It's insane what he does at Bayern atm and hard to believe he's not going to be at least world class at his position in a few years.

    I think de Ligt receives unbelievable criticism just bcz the tough start he's had. But he has improved a lot and that doesnt get the recognition it deserves. I have watched every Juventus game so far this season and in the last two months he has looked really composed- even better than Bonucci. Maybe not the sort of level he reached at Ajax but still, he gets a lot of unnecessary criticism bcz ppl who don't really watch Juve games only take in account that tought start

    I don't get how you can say Van Dijk and Chilleni in the same breath? Van Dijk is amazing, but shouldn't GOAT status be saved for those who have done it year after year after year? The same way we can't call Sancho the GOAT for this fantastic season, realistically Van Dijk while much older is still being rated only based on a couple of seasons. I think he's the best in the world right now, but not quite the legend Chiellini, Maldini, Ramos, Puyol etc are. Even next tier, Varane, Bonucci, Vidic etc have a bigger legacy than VVD as it stands.

At least in my definition, GOAT includes longevity.

    I know its not the perfect fit as he's a handball goali, but! Andreas Wolff once said something along the lines he feels like a solo player on the pitch because once the ball's over the defence, its either him or the striker who'll succeed. I think that would describe the problem why goalkeepers are so hard to judge pretty well, because they have different priviliges and thus an completely different game.

      Even better, he stays at City with a ready-made team that he’s already built, a big budget.. and now, he’s even excused for not being able to progress in the CL since they’re not in it. Slightly good? He wouldn't even be in the starting eleven if it wasn't for Chiellinis and Demirals injuries.

      @italo_scemo9202 Před 4 lety +1

      Nunca Desista he wouldn’t be in the starting XI because Chiellini and Bonucci are better, more experienced CBs at the moment, but I don’t blame him for not being already a better defender than them, they’ve been world class defenders for years.

  • @peter-paulkutschlojenga7336

    As an Ajax fan I know the potential de Ligt has, believe me, he can reach VVD level, the only thing he needs is to be completely comfortable with the squad. At Ajax he was the captain in a very young team at a club he spend his whole youth. Now at Juve he had to play at a different position in a country where he does not speak the language and with a very experienced and high demanding squad. That's a lot of pressure but believe me, when he is fully settled in he's going to be one of the best defenders ever.
