- Wait, did you say that twice, indeed you did with Veyran. That’s right, yet another doubling commander, but this time with a twist, doubling spell casting triggers. But Veyran has a secret mode of beating down and executing the commander damage clause in EDH. So how does this work, tune into the video to see how I set this up.

You did it again, Vex! Your deck techs are my favorite on CZcams. I appreciate how you run through every single card and give a thoughtful reason to include them in the 99 and the playtest is great to see how the deck works in practice.
I picked up the Prismari precon to build a Krark and Sakashima deck, including many clone spells to make more Krarks. In my playtests Veyran dominates everytime she came out. Going infinite in magic isn't hard to do and this deck felt infinite, except instead of laying out the combo and saying 'I have infinite mana' I had to sit there and flip coins. Having a small playgroup and already getting accusations of taking long turns, I ended up taking it apart.

@Potent Placebo, thanks for the support. Yeah, as a storm player who loves going off, I feel you. I usually let people in my playgroup "go off" because I know they are having a blast doing the thing their deck is designed to do.

I think the crash through is one of the Exceptions here as it doesnt target. So its not like expedite. But nonetheless. Your creatures have trample and you probably have enough mana to get through your deck xD love it
@Nyakes, yeah, I forgot crash through didn't target. You're right, I believe I had enough mana and card draw to get through my deck somehow.

@@Treanorium no its not, just a brew deck of my own to compete with the pod I'm in which are a bunch of savages! Turn 1 to 3 turn wins! So I had to build accordingly!
i would love to see where this deck is now, i play Veyran as my main deck and love it more and more every time i play it, always changing it with each new set

I don’t know if anyone will see this but everyone I see going over this deck tech always leaves out aria of flame which is a great way to quickly end a game if played correctly
@Jonesz68, Aria of Flame is indeed a great card in the deck. The reason I didn't include it is I wanted to concentrate on winning via commander damage.
Hello ! I built a similar deck, but I ended up removing Krark because of randomness. Each time I used it, it was a pain for me. Using underworld breach, I also add Brain Freeze: with the right setup (storm kiln artist for exemple) you can literally play your deck and make Veyran one shoting someone. In this setup, Aria of flame can kill other opponents. I also use an isochron sceptre. I removed metallurgic summonings as it is way to expensive. What do you think about all this ?
@Jerome Vinck, Brain freeze is super sweet with this deck, I like it! I think those cards are great and work really well with the deck!
Veyran was actually put instantly into my Krark and Sakashima deck as I slowly upgrade it to cEDH or cEDH adjacent,missing just Mox Diamond and Grim Monolith :,( but I want to build Veyran by herself to make a more "casual" list. (either that or make a Krark/Sakashima goblin tribal deck, lol)
@jemm13, I believe you're the second person I've heard putting Veyran into a Krark deck. Why not have both decks. People in my playgroup have play test cards in one of the decks to represent they own the card, but it's in another deck.

@Dan Hanson, currently I don't have any plans on doing a Willowdusk deck tech, but I built a Beledros Witherbloom deck (stay tuned for a deck tech). They play in a very similar space.

Awesome deck! this has helped give me some ideas. I'm currently making two storm decks, but I think Krark is more broken than he seems. you should add sakshima to the mix, you can copy veyran and anything else you may need at the time!
@Drew Longbrake, I do agree, Krark is really good. The only reason I avoid him as a commander is because he slows down game play a lot.
@@vex_mtg yeah, I agree, I'm fairly against solitaire. I dont think I would play him as the commander, But as a wild card in the 99 of veyran, it could be a fun last turn to go off with him. I like the idea of multiple triggers, but some newer cards from MH2 with coin flip seem like a bit of fun chance. I think I would restrain myself from repeating the spell too many times, like more than 3 times unless I Needed an answer to get like a counter for a board wipe or something. Sakashima would be way better for veryan to double her trigger to double triggers, while also doubling the triggers of the other creatures 😁

Would you add spells that cost more for extra turns?
I always recommend trying things out to see if it works. If your play group isn't so salty about extra turns, I would add them in.

I mean the lightning greaves gives shroud which prevents you from targeting your commander with cantrips like expedite, just in case it's your only creature.

@yugidude, as much as I like Kalamax, I actually took the deck apart and replaced it with Pako/Haldan. However, the Magecraft cards are a slam dunk in that deck -- from my top 10: Archmage Emeritus and Storm-Kiln Artist, even Veyran itself is good in that deck.
Love this deck! It seems super fun and powerful. I'm just worried that playgroups will not enjoy games with Veyran in it, due to the long turns, and will lead to a bad time all around. Has this been your experience?
I love my Veyran deck as well but this is an issue that I have it. I always feel bad when for how long the turns can take with Veyran. That’s just spellslinging in general unfortunately
Okay i gotta know, why do people use Wayfarer's bauble? i can't understand this i don't see it as being good at all. a 2 cmc mana rock is better no? why spend 3 mana for a land? i don't get it at all. i mean it's great to cast it on turn one but there is usually something else to play on turn 2 and later on in the game you usually play other spells so there isn't time to actvate the bauble also one of the reasons i don't play burnished hart either... can someone explain it to me?
Its because Command Quarters propagates that its a great card even if its not. Its a solid 1st turn play, after that its usefullness drops into oblivion. Its better than a 2 mana rock in a sense that a rock is easily destroyed while the land probably stays in play way more often. But in the end its a 3 mana rampant growth.
burnished hart is pure garbage you only play on the tightest of budgets or if it for some odd reason actually synergies insanely well with your deck.

@Scrapbasket, I usually run Wayfarer's Bauble (and to a lesser degree Burnished Hart) in non-green decks because it's land ramp instead of artifact ramp. Most play groups have more mass artifact destruction than land destruction. I've been on the wrong side of Vandalblast and Bane of Progress more time than I want to remember.
mana rocks often die, whereas land destruction is less common. It is more resistant once the effect has been resolved.
Off of Krark you should've scry2 again and draw again because of his copy off preordain in the early stage of test. Just wondering if you knew
@Ty Lewis, thanks for the heads up, I thought the Preordain came back to my hand because I failed the flip. I'll have to check out the replay.
I think there was 2 successful flips where there should have been a copy of preordain resolving on the stack, like one after getting Zada off the top. But later on you definitely did copy the spells :)

Bruh not running dual caster mage or the other one that came in the precon that allows you to copy it when you cast this creature... dual caster mage and baraals expertise will give you a a sweet combo for unlimited copy if you have storm kiln and veyran u have infinite treasure tokens and pump veyran to infinite dmg storm kiln will have infinite power then return everyone's stuff to their hand and you're good.. also harmonic prodigy
That is a sweet combo, it's just had to find room to fit everything you want, unfortunately stuff had to get the cut.
Not running any counter spells means you’re going to get bopped against most competitive tables lol. It’s fine playing like that against casuals though.
@ZxChrono, yeah this deck is meant to be at a more casual table. I'm starting to remove more and more counterspells from my casual decks as its unfun game play.
