- So many commanders between Strixhaven and Commander 2021, who to build next? Osgir of course, because playing Boros, err… Lorehold is the greatest. This deck switches course on classically aggressive Red and White into a grindy graveyard + artifacts + tokens deck. This deck is really unique in what it’s trying to do, so let’s see how Osgir gets it done.

I dig that they used the pre-release card Steel Hellkite art! Cool deck man. All these artifact commanders make it difficult to build around!

@Nyakes, yeah this is my favorite Strixhaven/C21 commander, we'll see what the commander of the year is at the end of the year. I should do a video on that.

nice video man, you should try out coveted jewel in this deck, it's literally a hidden gem in this kind of deck, draw 6 for free with osgir's ability, or more with copy effects. crazy for boros. and you can just sac it to any of your artifact sac outlets so it doesnt backfire on you.

@Beyonder Realm, Cursed Mirror is one of my favorite cards from C21, definitely bring it back!
So some of these are the added cards, correct because i don't think the deck comes with rings of brightheart

I've been brewing two different versions of Osgir, the Reconstructor. One is a version with Zirda, the Dawnwaker in the companion zone, while the other build just has Zirda in the 99. It's quite challenging to build a deck with Zirda's companion zone restrictions (all permanents must have activated abilities), but Zirda is amazing in the deck: it reduces Osgir's activated abilities by 2 (but importantly doesn't prevent you from targeting a Sol Ring with Osgir's ability)...and it just stumbles into infinite mana with either Basalt or Grim Monolith. Another card I like in the deck is Starke of Rath, due to it's synergy with cards like Illusionist's Bracers/Thousand-Year Elixir.
@Stormy Baker, that's a really interesting take, I actually had Zirda in the deck but ultimately cut it because I just didn't have enough room and wanted more artifacts, but I might trying adding it back to see how it goes. Thanks for the insight.
@@vex_mtg after more testing i've decided that a 6-mana Zirda (including the companion tax) just isn't worth the deck-building restriction. I definitely still like it in the 99, however (for the reasons I previously mentioned). Osgir is such a cool card to design a deck around, there are quite a variety of ways to go about doing it. I imagine it will probably be one of the top EDHrec decks for quite some time
@Stormy Baker, yeah I imaging the deck will be #1 for quite some time. They finally made a good Boros commander, other than Feather.
Really diggin this deck! I just started playing and got the Lorehold precon so I will pick up some of these. What would you say the power level is on this deck after your upgrades?
@Sean Lorman, that's awesome to hear. I believe the power level of the deck is around a 6.5 - 7ish, not super powerful, but a little bit of power.
Really nice deck! Have you think about add a Feldon and/or a phyrexian trinimorph? They looks work so well with this deck in my opinion
Thanks @Kylie.92. I considered both of them. I forgot why I cut Feldon. I cut Phyrexian Triniform because I wanted to include Triplicate Titan and didn't want to have two 9 drops in the deck.

I don't have the list, but you can always look at the decks lists to compare.
Gontis aether heart will see itself enter and the copies specially if you use illusionist bracers. Then u can use pull from eternity with isochron to take infinite turns.
Also missing lithoform engine.
@Drazi, Gonti's Aether Heart is a really cool card to add to the deck, using Osgir's ability you can get a free turn right away.

Does the thing with battlemages bracers work? Because it says if it isnt a mana ability and you have to pay mana to do the ability on osgir
@EMIDEX, Battlemage's Bracers does indeed copy either of Osgir's abilities. Mana abilities are when an ability generates mana.

Ugin's Nexus and Purphoros Bronze Blooded my men.
@metalsabatico, I really like the idea of Ugin's Nexus in the deck. I'm medium on Purphoros because of his higher casting cost and I tend to want to naturally cast artifacts and possible sacrifice it to Osgir himself. This deck is so mana hungry.
I can use osgirs first ability more than once per turn? like sac 10 artifacts if i pay 10 mana?

what about phyrexian dreadnought? bring two, for 1 mana and you sac one and keep a 12/12 with trample
@Jose Haya, yeah, Phyrexian Dreadnought was be really good in this deck. However, it's on the Reserved List and I tend to not use those cards in my deck techs. But definitely include it if you can.

(New at magic) how does equipping bracers double osgirs ability?
@@greatestdynasty the equipping itself doesn't. But the bracers ability triggers whenever an ability of the equipped creature is activated and it says that you can then pay 1 to copy that ability.
So if you activate osgirs second ability, you need to pay the cost (everything left of the colon). It then goes on the stack but so do the bracers. If you then pay the 1, the ability's effect goes another time (as a copy) on the stack. You copy just thw effect (everything to the right of the colon) so you get 2 tokens as each ability resolves, adding up to 4 tokens of the exiled Artifact.
Hope that was comprehensible. Otherwise, just ask again :)
I've had 30 sol rings in my brudiclad deck. Made all my tokens into sol ring tokens then cast blasphemous act, then proceeded to rebuild with my 60 extra mana XD
Is there a Wincon outside of combat damage? I feel like Osgir has a lot of combo potential
@Ryan Nolan, I believe combat damage is the win for the build I have. There might be a combo or two in there 😉.
In my osgir deck i have a pair of infinite mana combos and then i have cards like the walking balista that can kill everybody

*Cough* *Cough* Pull from eternity imprinted on an isochron scepter lets you use it multiple times to "technically" infinitely pull your exiled artifacts back. *cough* *cough* 100 sol rings.
