Hey look, paper Magic! This game was recorded via Spelltable (webcams) instead of Magic Online. Let me know what you think of the change!
More please!
Love it
like!
Waaaaaaaaay better. Thank you!
Liked the game and also your play by play! You had a lot of good inflection and kept the video watchable! Thanks for your time and effort!
One error I noticed too late to correct is I didn't update Rodrigo's life total after I attacked him for 3. There may have been more errors that I didn't catch, but that's just how it goes with Commander games.
With austere command wouldn't it destroy the bear umbra before destroying the snake commander so it wouldn't save the commander? I'm not 100% on that though as modal spells are complicated.
@@wasabi521 no bear umbra still saves the commander
@@aaronarmenta4237 that would be true of most wrath effects, but austere command is different in that it performs each mode independently, and in order from top to bottom. So first all enchantments are destroyed, then creatures MV 3 or less.
@@Vulpir huh the more you know that’s really interesting that it sequences it like that sometimes that’s a bad thing but here an upside
That intro was great haha. I enjoyed this format and my only minor suggestions is adding something to track commander damage. Other than that it was great!
I'll see if I can add that in the future. Thanks for the suggestion!
Super cool game. Oaf taking out 2 people out of "nowhere" was really funny. As a recent Tribal Tribal acolyte, wanted to share a quick experience. My first game in person with Ur-Dragon, I got to pull off the Lillana's Contract win. One of the players saw it coming, the other did not. Very amusing. I originally went for the untap deck but wasnt a fan of the feel-bads when I activated Gilt-Leaf Archdruid so I switched to combat focused and love the shenanigans
I was real happy I did something. I had made the deck the night prior from cards I had around and I think I didn't shuffle well enough. Was drawing everything but lands.
What I learned from playing was that people take card names literally. Everyone forgot about the ancient.
Also my deck forgot about lands...
All that mousing on my end was me trying to find out what some new cards do.
@@oafkad Where the cheese cause I ain't see no mouse. (maybe because there wasn't much to look at on your board....)
I was really confused about what video I clicked hearing Muddstah's voice.
More of these please! Like these bit sized quick watch games!
I like the quick walkthrough with explanations. The condensed versions are very smooth and would watch more episodes of this kind. :)
Love this new format and what a great game! I sure will check that osgir list!
LOL Tomer that intro had my crying I was laughing so hard. For all those who didnt get your voice last time.
I enjoy watching full ass commander games, but I absolutely love this video and this format. Great stuff
I, for one, welcome our new Andrew overlord.
Awesome content! Would watch 100% of these
It's so good to see my osgir deck winning! Good play!
Was really nice to see a paper magic game, it looks like it was a lot of work, but that definitely paid off.
Loved the deck intros, reminded me of playing with power but slower and a bit easier to follow. I was really happy that you took the time to find the exact card versions as the cards being used in the game when showing them in the centre of the screen. Excellent job Tomer, hope to see more paper games in the future :D
This is a great format for commander games. Keep them quickies coming!
Awesome game. Love real card games too! Don't get me wrong, I like MTGO gameplay, but seeing paper magic is always a treat.
Very nice style of Commander Quickie !
That tribal tribal deck surprises me again and again, everytime i see it. so cool! and very well done video.
For this format the paper magic is nice, but i love these commander quickies regardless!
love this new format, thanks for making it!
I really like the shrinked and the paper gameplay (even via Spelltable), hope to see more of this!!!
Definitely wanna see more Osgir!!!
That intro :D
I dig the short game format :)
Fun way to get a game in. I admit I rarely finish watching a clash vid. But I enjoy what ever I do watch
Click on an MTGMuddstah video, hear Tomer's voice first. Click on an MTGGoldfish video, hear Muddstah's voice first.
Today must be opposite day.
got me excited for more asmr Tomer at the beginning...next time, perhaps
ASMR Tomer is gone.
sksksksksk
I'll never get tired of people who've maintained in the past that boros can't ramp being impressed by boros' ability to ramp
my take is that you should never keep the counters on the forgotten ancient, but should instead put them on small dorks like Coiling Oracle
Love to see an edited and much shorter version of commander game play! Hope to see plenty more of these in the future.
Osgir has become one of my favorite generals, even powered it down a bit, to play with more ppl
Please keep doing each other's intro's Tomer & MTGMuddstah, it's fun as hell! Especially with Reboot references!
I loved the joke with muddstah! and for real it's just his format of video right? Which is awesome btw. Keep it up!
9:10 the decision doesn't impact the game, though, since sam wasn't able to control 2 sliver overlords anyways and probably would have kept the cloned one.
Sam still has a Sakashima Kodama clone so the legend rule doesn't apply.
Love the quirky Ur Dragon deck so much!
Awesome game! Esper Sentinal copies!!
so much value. good god.
much wow! so short! very cool!
I have a question, when you stole the Sakashima, shouldnt all but one of his other Kodama's died? I would assume the clones or original would die due to legend rule.
Video-wise this was awesome! Paper play is never not fun to watch. Always love to see these Tomer, thanks for another great video :)
Its because of the Glasspool Mimic, which was a copy of a Sakashima Kodama, which had the Sakashima text
Petition to rename the deck to "Our-Dragon", since it focuses so much on supporting the most creatures possible
Great content
Worth it.
Sorry can someone explain to me the rules? Why should Tomer’s sliver overlord return to his battlefield and not get exiled? Sam controls it permanently and there’s no “aura” or something that’s getting removed when he dies. I would’ve thought it would get exiled too 🤔
11/10 content
Love the Muddstah cameo 😂
Wouldn’t one of the sliver overlords have to die due to the legendary rule which would have probably been yours so not getting it back seems correct
YES SPELLTABLE YES SPELLTABLE YES SPELLTABLE. paper magic is so beautiful
Agreed that the only response to a simic value engine is to knock them out ASAP!
At 9:00, I'm a bit confused about why there was a Sliver Overlord in play at all. Sliver Overlord is a legendary creature and Sam already has one Sliver Overlord (the Phyrexian Metamorph). The Metamorph lacks Sakashima text, so one or the other should have been legend rule-d to the graveyard.
Its because of the Glasspool Mimic, which was a copy of a Sakashima Kodama, which had the Sakashima text
All of his copy creatures copied Sakashima, so they all have all of Sakashima's abilities in adition to Kodama's (because Sakashima copied Kodama).
This is the ideal version of the quickie format! I would recommend recording a wee bit of banter or reactions to big plays.
As I enjoy watching full games, when I do get some down time. This shortened version was great and narrated well.
Wild game!
YES TY COMMANDER QUICKIE
Edit: CLASH ON
Moooore!!
love the cam and proxy format rather than mtgo actually.
Kodama's ability goes infinite with Sakashima, no need to copy it more than once. The "this ability" refers to the permanent's ability, therefore they bounce off one another until you cant put anymore permanents into play.
"Hey gang, and WFT?"
how is multiple kodama and a search spell not enough to go infinite. the entire point of sakashima kodama partner is that they go infinite with a bounce creature.
only true if you are severely lacking in creativity
How does Kaseto survive the austere command? Also ain't it correct that sliver overlord is exiled, there is no timing on when the control ends so it should be exiled with the death of the controlling plater.
1) EDIT We ruled it incorrectly, modal spells are resolved sequentially so Austere's Command "destroy all enchantments" resolves first, then "destroy creatures" second. Kaseto should've died.
2) I'm honestly still fuzzy on the exact rule myself, but from what I understand Sam's "gain control" effect ends so it goes back to me. However, if you steal creatures without specifically "gain control" of them like Animate Dead or Bribery, those will be exiled. It's weird! Hopefully a smarter person replies with a better answer lol
@@MTGGoldfishCommander You resolve modal spells in order of options on the card if i'm not mistaken. So enchantments get destroyed first then creatures.
For the rule over the Sliver Overlord, I discussed with Tomer later and we based the narrative according to this rule:
800.4a When a player leaves the game, all objects (see rule 109) owned by that player leave the game and any effects which give that player control of any objects or players end. Then, if that player controlled any objects on the stack not represented by cards, those objects cease to exist. Then, if there are any objects still controlled by that player, those objects are exiled. This is not a state-based action. It happens as soon as the player leaves the game. If the player who left the game had priority at the time they left, priority passes to the next player in turn order who’s still in the game.
So if a player gained control of a permanent that isn’t his/hers and that permanent was in the battlefield, the original owner regains control of it. If he/she gained control of the permanent coming directly from the graveyard or libray, that permanent is exiled.
Later in the rules they describe such scenarios:
Example: Alex casts Act of Treason, which reads, in part, “Gain control of target creature until end of turn,” targeting Bianca’s Runeclaw Bear. If Alex leaves the game, Act of Treason’s change-of-control effect ends and Runeclaw Bear reverts to Bianca’s control.
Example: Alex casts Bribery, which reads, “Search target opponent’s library for a creature card and put that card onto the battlefield under your control. Then that player shuffles their library,” targeting Bianca. Alex puts Serra Angel onto the battlefield from Bianca’s library. If Bianca leaves the game, Serra Angel also leaves the game. If, instead, Alex leaves the game, Serra Angel is exiled.
@@MTGGoldfishCommander @Kevin Brouwer is correct. Kaseto would have died due to how modal spells work.
Also the general rule for how stuff returns after being stolen, if it was taken from the owner's battlefield (as with Overlord's effect), then it will return to its rightful owner. If it never touched its owner's side of the field (as with Bribery), then it will be exiled.
@@rodrigpimenta Is the scenario with sliver overlord not more analogous to the bribery example than the act of treason example? I'm quite confident it is, since sliver overlord's ability does not create an effect, it just changes control of the creature. I think the way you played it in game was correct @MTGGoldfish Commander
I watched Commander's Quarter's episode regarding "combos to watch out for....." yesterday......yikes ending.
