Fist of flame cast targeting beamsplitter mage, while there are 3 Veyrans on the field, will create 4 copies of the original spell. The original and the copies will each create 4 treasures, so you would create 20 treasures. Each Veyran would also get +20/+20 as a cast trigger. When the fist of flames resolve, you would draw a card and targets would get +1/+0 for each card drawn so far, increasing by one in the sequence you choose for them to resolve. The beamsplitter mage would get the most +1/+0s because the original resolves last.
Wow, this is alot less then we thought. So the Veyrans don't see eachother for extra triggers?
@@KingdomsTV yes and no. Their mage craft ability is affected by all the other veryrans. But their “trigger an additional time” is a replacement effect, so it doesn’t go infinite with the others.

I could be wrong but since Veyran's second ability is not triggered by an instant or sorcery, they are actually being triggered by seeing a triggered ability, so they shouldn't cause each other to trigger multiple times.
I am seeing a consensus that this might be true. It makes more sense too as it would be way easy to make Veyran go infinite as seen.
Multiple veyrans won’t actually trigger themselves additional times, because veyrans second ability is an “if” ability not a “whenever” ability so it’s a static effect not a trigger, so you would’ve gotten 4 copies of fist of flame
This is huge. We might not have been dead then at that point!
Veyran always ends in “I don’t know what’s going on but I think I won”.
My favorite combo commander, once StormKiln hits the field with Veyran it’s almost always over.

It looks like we might have had too many triggers of veryran happening!
As far as I know, Stormchaser trigger when he is targeted, so his hability is not triggered by a spell being cast so Veyran is not able to duplicate that trigger.
I think targets are chosen at time of cast so the cast / target is caused by the spell and would trigger Veyran. I could be wrong, but I think thats how it works.
I'm also not sure, but you can see the diference on text between beamsplitter abd stormchaser. Beamsplitter says "whenever you cast a spell that targets only beam splitter". So it is a conditional cast trigger. Stormchaseris not writen in that way. That's what have me thinking it doesn't trigger aditional times.
@@KingdomsTV you would be wrong. Cast/copy is very specific mechanically. It is about the stack and putting/creating things on the stack. Targeting is its own specific mechanic.
i love the idea of this getting to see all the top commanders battle it out, you guys are always bringing something new to the table in terms of content, keep it up guys!

Great game. This ending is why I took my Veyran deck apart - if it takes longer to calculate if people are dead than the rest of the game then that commander isn't for me 😄.

Great game, and the ending was certain regardless of not figuring out all the math (and the mixup in counting up the copies from multiple Veyran). With all those cards and treasures available, Julian was able to completely wreck shop. Fun watch!

Veyran is the first deck I ever built and it will always have a special place in my heart, but keeping track off all the triggers and doing the math eventually caused me to gut her :( So powerful and fun if the table is down and your math is strong.

Replacement effects don’t go infinite with each other.
So happy with the Veyran win. On the downside, I won’t be able to catch people unaware with this deck for a while.
The beamsplitter will make more spell copies when there are more Veyrans.
I think that name is going to catch on. ;)

the thing I find annoying with Joraga treespeaker, unless you play Seton, Krosan protector as your commander, is that you need to pay 3 mana for it to become a mana dork, that is very inefficient, but I get why it is in Lathril, it is an elf.
It’s a great add in any deck with mana elves. Not the best but not the worst

The Veyran ability to add additional triggers is a replacement effect, not a trigger, so they don't add more of each other.
That was a big learn this game for me

I don't think Veyran should copy stormchaser drake triggers. The drake triggers on being targeted, not from you casting a spell targeting it. Since targeting isnt casting, Veyran shouldnt trigger. Veyran's second ability is a replacement effect, not a triggered ability. More Veyrans will not cause trigger chains (same with Harmonic Prodigy).
Its not a chain, but they do trigger at least once for eachother because they are wizards ya? I'd love to get to the bottom of it!

Bruh, feather didn't even come out.
I know. Feather has been taken a beating lately. Thats party why I decided to play it. I usually won't player her unless I can protect her too otherwise she just gets blown up. I didn't expect the Veyran win so quick as I did have a Chaos Warp I could have used if I saved mana. Regrets!
@@KingdomsTV that is why I play with 10+ spells that can protect feather. Most also pump, scry, or cantrip.

7:00 I don't think Veryan works with Stormchaser Drake due to templating issues. Veryan only checks if casting or copying a spell triggered an ability. Drake reads that it triggers when targeted, not when a spell is cast or copied. It's a subtle difference, but I think it is technically incorrect to draw multiple cards off the Expedite here
The targeting at casting happen at the same time so I’m pretty sure it works…
