so there using braa Potjie / Ooni /Kameeldoring wood from south africa which on it's own is £9-12 for 10kg .. yet there trying to charge £35 for 10kg ?? great wood for smokers or bbq on it's own .. but would never pay that price for charcoal .. i'd just use the real thing ..

Thanks for your comment, just to answer you questions and correct you, the wood is actually not braai woods from South Africa as you state is a hard wood from South America. This coal is a very high carbon charcoal and not produced in the same way as regular coal so that adds to the end point costs, its also graded differently as well so the labour production costs are again higher. This is also not your regular day to day coal...if you are doing a regular BBQ you would be better placed using ACH15 or APCH12 or any of the normal coals. Binchotan is a very very good quality high carbon, high heat coal produced using the traditional methods, yep its £35 a box but its absolutely worth it, I have managed to get 3 cooks out of one chimney of coals by shutting the vents down and smothering the coals, then simply taking them out and relighting in the chimney starter. Hope this helps you out. Nick

This in not true Japanese Binchotan charcoal. I am surprised they can get away with calling it Binchotan.

@@joshuabeard8244 yeh agreed. I was excited when I saw Binchotan, but quite disappointed after I saw what it looks like. However, I'm still tempted to order a box to try because there ain't a whole lot of choice in term of fuel to do hibachi style grilling or yakitori in the UK.
