The original had a black hole to get to the Alien planet. There was a cool time dilation part of the plot where Cutter arrived decades after the rest of the science team. By the time he arrived the world was enslaved by the first human to get there and Cutter was put down in prophecy as the saviour who would one day come. But none of that was explained early on, you just arrived and all the aliens were speaking english and calling you the messiah
Played the original Outcast on a demo disk from PC magazine. Loved it but i was too young to really understand it. Bought and played the old game in my 20s and it was nice to see. But i couldnt really get into the game. World building looked good though.
came out in 1999 for the PC and it took a fairly powerful CPU and GPU to run it if I recall. Probably at least 3 years ahead of its time compared to console games.
The original was my favorite game for years. Easily a game ahead of its time. I was following the rumors around a sequel for years as well, and I was devistated when they canceled the PS2 sequel they already started development on. Funnily enough though, after all this time, I am now not really very interested anymore. Of course I downloaded the demo, but I thought the gameplay felt really rough, and the framerate wasn't great. If this came out like 15 to 20 years earlier, it could have made a splash. But it's too late now.
I played the demo for this and I felt it was just as forgettable as the first game. However the demo did feel empty. I think I needed more interactive story.
I think there should be more coverage of these AA games on the channel, be it sponsored or not. Over the last few years I've found them more enjoyable than most AAA titles and considering current game budgets, it might even be a more sustainable way forward.
@@SpawnWave Dont bother IMO you will be shocked how quick it ends i beat it at like level 35. The combat is fun and the exploration is also but its actually shorter then the first with so many plot holes and extremely obtuse quests. Such a let down for me as I loved DD1
Also been playing this on my Rog Ally and yeah it's fantastic. Just flying around the world feels really good and there are a lot of different things to do. Sidequest, platforming, gun battle and so on. And yes it's 100% seamless and it has a lot of verticality. And yeah zero microtransactions or other bullshit companies are doing today..
Nice stuff Jon(SW). This Game I do need too check out, I do have the Demo Downloaded, so I'll check that out at the very least but the Outcast Games are very cool tho. There is Outcast: Second Contact, which was Released on the PS4 too check out aswell guys.
I would rather buy this game on steam because its cheaper than on Ps5 and Xbox. Btw the game looks fun. I can definitely wait for it to go on sale on steam later. 😅
THQ Nordic reached out to a LOT of good CZcamsrs to sponsor videos about this new Outcast. I think it’s great that they’ve put so much behind it given the game’s historical industry significance and how the original developers were behind this sequel as well. After so long waiting for the right time to make it happen it’s nice to see them being supported.
I think Outcast does a fair job. The old one was of its time and remaster is probably fair. The new one seems pretty alright of the sci fi inspirations or the jetpack and other details I like seeing this from AAs old or otherwise. But people will go oh it's dated. I mean irs trying to dtand out and old doesn't mean bad. Those qith an open mind will play it or fans of the original/remaster. Bur other people sigh. Cult following differences/expectations with other games and context. I mean Zelda formula for its deries. From games fir theirs. I don't want everything to be them. They suit those games. I find the worlda fine but I only cared for the shrine puzzles the quests were eh, the world passable to explore. Dark Souls combat was pretty unengaging but does the job for an RPG. Fhe stats aren't meant to be D&D deep but do reach it more than other games. Where a Biomutant has less animal abilities disappoints me besides the great gas immunity system. Animal abilities would have made it great but an N64 Space Station Silicon Valley has more dpeth then it in character movesets but it has an open world and focus in Biomutant so wow what an improvement. Fhey are AA so I'll give them a pass and irs a fair game just some lacking focus in areas makes me go why should I care. Playing as an animal doesn't change much and the checkpoint peeing, 4 leg sprinting and narration of their language doesn't do enough for me it has to feel like I am playing as an animal. If Spyro can and also feel heavy in Reignited because I hate weighty characters and modern engines then more floaty design that was better prior grrrr. What does it matter devs won't change. But I can always wish and it never happen of eh design following. When better ideas hapoened in the past or games from the past keeping their differences alive thats more exciting. If they don't in modern entries or revivals then those devs suck too. Sure I enjoy gameplay elements but I don't carw for From atmosphere its why I don't GTA. People play it as a sandbox yet I find the controls clunky, the crime thriller and satire to be unengaging compared to other series with such themes. I don't see the appwal but thats fine it just isn't for me. The SciFi themes/possible inspirations like No Man's Sky. The open world and jetpack are cool. Some open worlds need more than similar settings, similar quests and other things to do. It's why while I don't care for open worlds or 3D platformers with a Banjo/Spyro (yes grew up with Spyro) style doing all those things for NPCs as not all are fun. Even Atlas Fallen being a hub based hack n slash like Darksiders 2 to me that was enough because the continuous attacks in the air was so good. But people go oh this and that and I'm like yep priorities differ for people. Aveum the theme and fair use of the magic system for guns. I want gameplay so even if Balan sucked the Rayman suit gimmick sold me on the game. Not it's lacking polish, not a story, not who created it. The gameplay was still there. Even if too many of the suits and only brief uses it did what I wanted it to. So you can tell why I like 3/10 or 5/10 games and give them a 5 or 7/10 right? If the minigames or quests are interesting sure but many times I get bored because the gameplay isn't good just really boring (or the story missions end up that way and the side one are better). Or the dialogue and situation is so good I don't mind but most times I want gameplay not dialogue. But will accept it if the dialogue and situation is silly/enjoyable.
Body odor is caused by a mix of bacteria and sweat on your skin. Your body odor can change due to hormones, the food you eat, infection, medications or underlying conditions like diabetes. Prescription-strength antiperspirants or medications may help.
This looks good for a 90’s game. Must be late 90’s.
He's referring to the original outcast, not this. Lol
Seems like the Avatar Xbox 360 game
"Outcast: Second Contact" is a PS4 remastered version of the original, if anyone's interested.
2090s
This isn't the 90's version!

I love big open world single player games. This looks good

Mad max is the outcast of open world games
100%
Agreed
Played through it again at the end of last year. It still holds up well. Too bad we didn't get a sequel.
Facts, more like open Desert
Underrated gem
Look awesome 😎 25 years outcast
I’ve never heard of the first game in my life but I’ve seen a ton of people talking about this new one
Are they paid sponsorships like this video? If so, then it's not a coincidence that people are talking about the game.

Wait, are you sure you didn't mix that sentence up and it should be the other way around?
@@godofwhiskey Indeed. It was one of the first 3D open worlds games, and came out before GTA 3. It blew my mind back then.
Looks fun, but I already have too much in my backlog... Maybe I'll pick it up on sale at some point.
I've been on the fence about this one, but this gameplay has sold me. Thanks
1999? Missed opportunity to be the Outkast of open-world games!
Outcast the game, not Outkast the rapper. Never soil this game's reputation.
I like how you explained what a tutorial is
I have the original Outcast and it's still fun. This looks like a day One purchase.

The first game was groundbreaking at its time.
Weird, I literally just bought this to play due to it being brought up on Digital Foundry. I'm glad to give it a go once its downloaded.

This is why you aren’t playing DD2!
I just got to the endgame last night. Awesome game
I'm about to wrap up my time with FF7 Rebirth at 80 hours. Already working on Rise of the Ronin, but Dragon's Dogma 2 might pull me away finally.
I’m only kidding! but I have been waiting for your thoughts on the game.

Think I need a break from open world games
Reminds me of The Guardians of The Galaxy game.
??? Like in the sense that they are both games?

It came out on PS4 a few years ago. I'm surprised you don't know about it.
Not the same game
@@stoflcstoflc9815 Oh. Thanks for the info.
Seems very generic
Pure 80’s B level stuff. Cutter Slade…..I’m into it tho, for like 40/50$
He’s gotta make money somehow
The environment looks cool.
3:22 gungan city?
Kinda reminds me of Red Faction Guerrilla: ReMarstered
Interesting
This game was made for Me and You.
Your momma and your cousin too.
Outer worlds and Thief are FREE ON EPIC GAMES TOMORROW
Every game ever made could be free on Epic Games tomorrow and it would still be a bad deal.

Meh. Just meh.
Looks like a game that has fun movement, but gets in its own way trying to be a modern game in the worst ways.
Still at ffvii rebirth
Graphics haven't evolved a lot in the last 25 years
