Anti-Woke: A Duty to Offend - Brendan O'Neill (dubbed "The Most Hated Man on UK Campuses")

  • Peter's Whittle's guest this week is free speech campaigner and columnist Brendan O'Neill, editor of Spiked Online and a frequent commentator on Sky News's paper review etc.
Starting out on the far left as a writer for Living Marxism, the journal of the Revolutionary Communist Party, Brendan O'Neill now classifies himself as an atheist libertarian.
He is no longer as interested in traditional Left/Right political divisions believing, like many others, that these have been superseded by society's new divisions (in essence the platform for the culture wars).
Dubbed "The Most Hated Man on UK campuses" by The Tab, He has taken his campaign against censorship and the "no platforming" of speakers to university campuses, attacking the authoritarian, close-minded attitude of the (generally privileged middle class) "woke" students & staff who prefer to shut down debate rather than attempt to rebut challenging views.

Woke came from awake - i fully suspect it derived from Occupy Wall Street 2011 to 2013. Although “Wake Up” has been around centuries - as in “Wake Up Australia” old old Aussie saying.
OWS talked of the 99 vs 1 % more accurately 99.9 vs 0.1%
OWS spoke of SHEEPLE and ZOMBIES and those ASLEEP
If you don’t get that the 0.1% control the fight, the division, the angst then you not very woke as OWS would have liked.
Regardless of which english speaking country you live in, If you don’t get that liberal left political party supporters and bigoted right wing conservative party supporters are stored by the 0.1% then you not very woke indeed.

She was also upset about male to female transgenders competing in athletics, cycling, rowing etc smashing women's records and leaving the best of the best women athletes in their wake. So their theories and views are biased, flawed and unworkable. So the ONLY way they can hold power or change things to their way of thinking is to completely cut off ANY criticism or alternative view. Unfortunately, they’re doing a good job of it at the moment.

Now, for most of my peer group, it seems that adulthood starts at 30, and the legislation around staying in formal education longer than ever implies that the government agrees that young people aren't equipped to deal with the difficulties of reality yet. As such, we should raise the age to 21 and only give the vote to people who have an actual stake in the country.

identity politics has become the thing it hates, and they can't see it. they prey on kind, compliant, polite people bending their knee to their ideas. which i have done, so i have to take some responsibility for this monster. we didn't challenge, we indulged the baby and created a narcissistic generation. i grew up in the 90's in Haringey, watched the Spice Girls, played football and drank pints of lager. i stopped watching tv and reading papers over 2 years ago, sourced my own information and my politics changed, almost to the polar opposite of the group think i was expected to toe the line with. in jungian terms, political correctness is the controlling mother (so those in spirituality who say there has been no feminine are in denial, she exists and she's become bitter, twisted and hateful (they've projected 'hate speech' onto everyone else. repression). i'm so grateful for this channel, i'm quiet and i get very fearful about saying how i actually think and feel about anything politically. that there is not right. i can't change the world, i can only change myself, so i take little steps such as leaving a comment on some videos, and if i'm feeling brave, sharing a video or 2 on facebook (which is part of the problem too).

There needs to be a system other than 'the left', or 'the right'. Capitalism clearly does not work for the 'whole' in the end, as seen in every capitalist system. Neither does socialism work perfectly as proven in socialist systems. Every political system appears to allow greed to percolate to the top. Where could be the checks and balances? So....in the end does not the left and the right eventually lead to totalitarianism? Two paths to the same destination.
The way I see it, we are witnessing the return of Judeo-Bolshevism, both from the left and the right.

"People without uteruses"? Isn't that trans-exclusionary?

The schizophrenic mind! Attempting to hold two opposing views at the same time. The delusion of wishing to promote Marxist filth in which by doing so, sends the left unwittingly into the land of the loony left - putting it mildly.

Trans-exclusionary and intersectional are two sides of the same transphobic feminist coin.
Both are saying that you're not a (wo)man if you're not cis, but in different ways.

As Oscar Wilde once noted, "There are times when doing your duty is also a pleasure" correcting the woke sprang to mind!

Last year I left a comment on another post stating how much I resent these antisocial individuals for making me aware of skin colour and becoming suspicious of certain types. Before these 'woke' individuals I never thought about skin colour or even of anyone as different from me in terms of race or orientation. It never impacted on my interactions with people. Maybe that stems from being gay but really I think it's just normal for well adjusted people to be that way. They say they fight for equality when in reality they are enforcing tribal-mentality and creating divides.
