    Summary: Aaron's furious when Paddy tells him about Adam's visit. Later at The Woolpack, he awkwardly wishes Adam happy birthday but is horrified when Jackson arrives. Aaron reluctantly agrees to have a pint with him but is uncomfortable when Ryan asks to join them. Aaron's anxiety is further heightened as the night progresses and he eventually insists that he and Jackson head into town. However, when Jackson touches Aaron on the back of the neck, Aaron overreacts. Scared of being outed - and as the locals look on - Aaron punches Jackson square in the face. Back at Smithy, Paddy's at a loss when the police arrive and lead a terrified Aaron away. Will Aaron's secret be out?

    I love how in that final scene where the police go to arrest Aaron and he instinctively moves towards Paddy for protection - you can really see their father-son bond.

    After Jackson touches Aaron's arm, the entire bar looks over. Obviously this wouldn't have happened so I think it was from Aaron's perspective. He's so paranoid that he thought one single touch would draw every eye to him. That level of self-loathing is powerful, frightening, destructive.
    I can't wait for the day that Aaron accepts that he's lovable, when he recognizes that Adam and Paddy care for him without judgment. Before he gets there--if he gets there--he'll experience much more sadness.

      DistantCousin Dont agree with what Aaron did, but I do understand. Jackson should know not to do something like that though, he knows Aaron is struggling with his sexuality and petrified of anyone finding out. And to do it in Aaron's local was asking for trouble tbh 😟

    @justmoijah haha my thoughts exactly! The whole pub reacted wayyy to soon. Why were they staring at Aaron and Jackson before the fight even broke out???
    Grrr I hate how conflicted Aaron feels. His heart is telling him he wants Jackson, but his mind is telling him he doesn't want to be outcasted. In the end he is unhappy and violent all the time. If he would just give it a chance, Im pretty sure he'd be happy with Jackson as his bf.

    First , where Jackson and Aaron were sitting that’s were rob and Aaron kissed after Aarons went to court for beating up Kasim which is ironic as he bet up kasim because he was annoyed at Robert for not accepting that he was Bi and then Aaron beats up Jackson bc Aaron can’t accept he’s gay 🤯

    The writers are the best sticking with the adolescent behavior acting out, over reaction, paranoia and violence. Aaron is a mess of anxiety /hormones - clearly he was being pushed to the brink and he told/warned Jackson he was going to freak out just like with Patty. They both were fair warned but did not respect Aaron's request. and pow I hope Jackson stays in the show but how many more situations can he take? This is really well written and acted - tomorrow will be a turning point maybe

  • @walkingkodi
    @walkingkodi Před 14 lety +1

    Jackson has made the trip to Podunk several times to see Aaron and he always phones him trying to make contact. That is more than a lot of guys would do. I wonder if Adam will take Jackson to the side and encourage him in any way to give Aaron another chance. maybe the arrest will be the final straw for Aaron. Im almost afraid to watch tomorrow. The poignant moments make me cry.

    I would be really surprised if it was Jackson who called the cops, I mean, even if he is pissed at Aaron for decking him, at least he would understand the reason behind it. I think it was someone else at the Woolpack because everyone in town knows how violent Aaron can be, and several people have made comments that maybe he should be locked up.

    For one thing Jackson did deserved it. I mean, HE KNOWS what Aaron is going through, been there for his own previously, and not understanding the fearings and trying to force a situation is just as selfish as it can be.
    And then again, Aaron's reaction is quite understable, may no be the best one but still is what anyone in his situation will do. Overreacting is what we do whenever we face internal feelings we are not used to, regardless of the situation.

    • @globalman
      @globalman Před 5 lety +4

      You are completely WRONG!!!
      maybe you also have an anger management problem. Jackson made a harmless friendly gesture touching Aaron's arm, something that even straight mates do.
      Physical violence was totally inappropriate and hitting him was a sign of his continued psychological disturbance and more than just his sexuality is the problem.
      There is never a reason or excuse for physical violence unless it is life or death self defence. Even then it is advisable to run if you are not sure of winning and in danger of being killed. It happens all to often.

    • @ellemoran78
      @ellemoran78 Před 3 lety

      Agree completely. All these years later and people still see Jackson as some saviour but his behaviour was problematic from the start.
      Knowing someone wasn’t out and really struggling (and only just turned 18) then walks into his local where he knows all his friends and family would be? Then stays when he sees how freaked out and frightened Aaron is?
      I’ve had someone very close to me go through a very similar journey to Aaron’s and if I witnessed this happen in real life it would have been me dragging Jackson out of that pub as soon as I clocked him and I’m not a violent person.
      Of course Aaron shouldn’t of reacted like he did but he’s young, scared, damaged and backed into a corner. Jackson himself later said he could see why he did it and he kept pushing because of how much he liked Aaron - not noble, not selfless, not saving Aaron, but utterly selfish from an older more experienced man who should have known better.
      I didn’t like Jackson. He was funny and charismatic but was appallingly selfish, manipulative and pushy with Aaron all the way through.
      It gets more complicated after the accident but the final scene before when he’s pushing Aaron to say he loves him is one of the most cruel and emotionally abusive things I’ve seen. I can’t re watch it.
      Their relationship was toxic and Jackson never once put Aaron first or showed him any empathy or understanding even when he must of known how damaged he was, and so young, forced to publicly come out and trying to navigate his first relationship.
      Violence while not justified is sometimes inevitable given the right combination of circumstances, and in this case Aaron is not the only one responsible. In law it’s called mitigating circumstances

    Ps, but he deserved being arrested. Paddy trying to defend him shows how truly incompetent Paddy is at dealing with Aaron. An intelligent judge would sentence him to intensive anger management therapy and community service. But this is England/UK where intelligent and practical solutions are lacking.
    Violence and bashing people like in the USA are an acceptable way of life in the cultural mentality.
