I remember some long corridors with big steel fire doors(really basic standard stuff) and a large room with huge glass windows and an gangway. I think it was a lab or research facility. I had about 6 years and 18,000 work hours in the industry at that point and unless the work was really interesting, which it often was not, I didn't care what I was building or how it would be used in the picture. Working in the industry sounds exciting but working 12+ hours a day 7 days a week for a few years really takes the shine off of it.

    • @Rodanguirus
      @Rodanguirus Před 3 lety +2

      I've come around to this as well. JP3 doesn't shoot for the moon, but it's a fun, streamlined, 90-minute thrill ride. And while the T-Rex is an absolutely iconic movie monster and its jobbing to the Spino was such a manipulative way to try to impress audiences, I do appreciate the use of the spino for being a) based on an actual dinosaur and b) being distinct from the rex/raptors.
      I used to give this movie crap for Alan declaring he would never go back, then immediately caving due to money. But the first movie honestly does something very similar. Though not stated by Grant himself, the chief of Hammond's amber mine is super confident they'd never convince Grant to go, and it turns out money was enough to convince him. So his character's pretty consistent.
      And of course, the talking raptor in the room. It's been the punchline surrounding this movie from the moment it came out, and yes it's silly and bad, but it's really not a big deal in the scheme of things. Just let the movie take that particular L and enjoy the rest for what it is.

    It's such an odd franchise. The book basically had Malcolm as the author favourite. The second book had Malcolm as the author favourite. The first movie had Grant as the protagonist. The second movie follows the second book and we're back to Malcolm as the protagonist, where it shouldn't. The third movie tries to course correct with Grant again but by then...well even Crichton thought it wouldn't work.

    • @OEMishGarage
      @OEMishGarage Před 3 lety +5

      Malcolm died in the first book and Crichton didn't have any intentions for a sequel until after the massive success of the movie. Malcolm was brought back to life because he was a fan favorite, so I don't know why the movie wouldn't have followed the book with him as the main protagonist in the sequel.

      @mrgreatbigmoose Před 3 lety +1

      @@OEMishGarage, I totally agree. Why wouldn't? It's logical. But it's still odd. Malcolm survived the film and was made to survive the book. So Crichton puts his personal hero into a sequel book. I can follow that. He owes nothing to the films.
      But movies have different rules: The sequel to the film needs to have the hero from the first movie return i.e. Grant. So for the films to flow, it should have diverged from the book. Like I said...odd. It made the third movie feel like a course correction in addition to all of the problems that plagued it.

    • @piperjaycie
      @piperjaycie Před 3 měsíci

      The third movie should have centred around Ellie(with her still with Grant, maybe a kid or two). That would ah e been interesting. Some pointed out that the reason Malcolm did work as the lead is because he was comic relief in the first movie. Kind of like how the Joey friends spin off didn’t work because Joey and Malcolm only work or work best when they have other characters to play off.

    Jurassic park wasn't actually based on novels. The first movie script was created more or less at the same time as the book, and the second movie's script was created partially at the same time as the book. The book had to adapt to the movie. The writer was told about some guidelines of the movie and created the book making guesses about what happened. And it shows if you read the second book. He was told "Ian is alive and they go to the B zone, the company will try to hunt dinosaurs and both teams will find each other and get into conflict"... that was pretty much the direction for the novel.

If it weren't for this movie, Spinosaurus would never be nearly as popular or very known about, especially since the older remains were destroyed by the R.A.F in Munich, Germany in 1944. The only thing left were Stromers sketches, pictures, and journal. Now look at Spinosaurus. It stands as one of the most popular and fan favorite dinosaurs and this all happened in 2 decades, not to add has gone some very unique breakthroughs irl. The T.Rex And Spinosaurus fight was also supposed to be way longer, I believe nearly 2 minutes, not a measly 30 seconds. The Spinosaurus was also supposed to get slaughtered by the pack of raptors, but it didn't.

    There's been a lot of hate towards the sequels since THE LOST WORLD. I really don't understand why. I first read the novels in 2008, I was 11 years old and Michael Crichton was still alive. Then I jumped into reading all of his work and I've come to appreciate the movies for what they are. I don't really understand what people want of this films, they always say: I want them to be like the first one. Then.... just watch the first one. Yes, the first JURASSIC PARK has a lot to its advantage, but that doesn't mean the sequels are all bad automatically, they all have their great and bad moments. I've always said since I read the books that they main plot of this stories is: men playing to be God. And all of them cover that topic, and I find it intriguing. Honestly all the characters and situations are just peons in a chess game bigger to them and that FALLEN KINGDOM actually dares to bring back. I believe there's much nostalgia to it and people are often mad that their visions and expectations are not covered in a film, but that doesn't make a film less enjoyable, I LOVE THE WHOLE FRANCHISE! I don't have any favorite film because i can watch them and enjoyed them all at the same level. But then again.... that's only my opinion.

    I think they should really added more interactions between the characters of the movie like Eric Kirby and Billy Brennan to flesh out the dynamics between the characters.

    Let's be honest, this franchise has been on shaky ground ever since the first Jurassic Park took off. It forced Crighton to write a hastily developed sequel book and it also showed how limited the scope of the whole concept could ever be. Even critics labelled the book 'The Lost World' a tired rehash and that's all these movies have ever been. Pale rip offs of the original story, using the same main plot point of 'humans go to dinosaur island, something goes wrong, dinosaurs hunt them down, slowly pick them off and eventually the entire main cast escape unharmed. Gone is the character development from the first movie, gone is the danger and stakes you felt for people like Grant, Sattler, Malcolm, Tim and Lexie.
    I thought Jurassic World would be a great exploration of the actual world they'd created, but it never reached any intelligent depths nor had any character development. Grady was a combination of Ian Malcolms charm and looks with Alan Grant's knowledge of dinosaurs, but they ram the hero imagery so far down your throat in a bid to cash in on his Guardians of the Galaxy star power, it's enough to make you gag.
    As with plenty of unintentional franchises, this is a concept that should have stopped after one book and one movie.

      Yeah, it was clearly never intended to become a franchise, and, the creative bankruptcy, (despite, the commercial success), of the sequels, only reinforces this.

    I saw this movie for third time after so many years. It's not a bad movie. Despite of problems in production, it's a quite enjoyable and engaging movie. I liked it more than the lost World. I think it was even better than the Jurassic world.

    a bit ironic Spielberg was too busy making a bad movie... to oversee production of a bad movie...

    This movie is about as logical as the dream sequence you probably regret not adding…
    “Alllaaaaaannnn”
    And that’s why I love it, it’s to dumb.
    Also “SOMEBODY IS GONNA GET SHOT” - that guy.

    without even watching the video yet tbf I liked Jurassic park 3 more than lost world... then again the last time I watched both of these films i was still in grade school wet behind the years so maybe my opinion would be different if I researched them today 🤷‍♂️

    Think about this. It seems the third movie in the most famous franchises are a curse. (e.g., The Godfather, Terminator, Alien,) to name a few. You're chasing a 1,2 punch and missed on the 3rd. I understand the success of said movies mentioned, but the fact they were better than the first is remarkable. Hat tricks are not easy to achieve.

      Better than Lethal Weapon, it was supposed to end at two, a great duology was ruined, you know the rest.

    The idea of a group of people getting shipwrecked there is great! Finally a Jurassic Park film with a cast that aren't experts or linked to the park. Not only would it finally introduce aquatic dinosaurs properly, it would just be a good fun stand alone film.

    Look at the bright side without this movie without have advanced so much in the study of the Spinosaurus, from a giant dinosaurs with a spine in his back, to a crocodile version of dinosaurs, that is even bigger than the Deinosuchus.
