The Alan nightmare actually starts off scary and creepy enough, with no one flying the plane and the ominous music perfectly conveying how uncomfortable the situation is. Plus, the raptor saying Alan is so random it's kind of creepy. The fact that they don't reference it further or showcase Alan's PTSD from dealing with raptors is a major missed opportunity to build on it.

Personally, I’ve come to see that bit as an extension to the short bit at Ellie’s house where Alan’s trying to get the parrot to say his name, especially since that bit then leads to them talking about how horrifically intelligent Raptors are.

The only real issue I'd say is that it doesn't make sense for JP3 Raptors to already appear in the dream. It would have been the perfect opportunity to make a cameo for JP1 Raptors that would have made sense

Just because we didn't get one on screen doesn't mean there couldn't have been something that was made and then got out somehow. Not to mention they were in the ocean at that point and I believe the Spinosaurus may have been more suited to fresh water. Honestly, they may have intentionally left it ambiguous to get the audience to think, "Holy crap, what's in the water?!?"

Okay, so, I see this on almost every Jurassic Park 3 video that I watched. Everyone always asks how did Eric get the T-Rex piss? Well if you read between the lines, you'll realize that he wears camouflage clothing and has rubbed dirt all over himself to hide his scent and has also been to the InGen facility to get supplies. So that means that he was out exploring the island and came across a T-Rex. We know he's read Allen Grant's book so he knows that the T-Rex vision is based on movement so he stayed perfectly still, but the T-Rex that he found was marking its territory. The T-Rex cock its leg and pissed all over him and then he just rang out his piss covered clothes into a vial. It's really not that hard, I mean, how do you think he survived on an island full of predatory dinosaurs but knows about the Spino? He's covered in the territory marking urine of a Bull T-Rex so no other predator would dare come near him but the Spino aka "it attracts a really big one with a fin" would be actively stalking him since it's always looking for another big dino to kill.

The Alan scene to me makes perfect sense. Look, dreams are a weird part of our subconscious. Now knowing Alan's past, it's not uncommon for him to dream of his major fear, plus seeing the current situation he is in. But why did the raptor said his name. Because alan was trying to get his name said ....by the cuckatoo or parrot from Ellie's house. He was continuously saying...say my name...say my name...Alan..what is my name, to the bird but the bird didn't say it. So in his dream of what he is most afraid of plus what his heart's wish was ( that bird would say his name)... these two scenarios just got blended.

@@RealBLAlley The JP3 raptors arent real raptors, they are just a bit closer to being real raptors. They do have feathers, which is great, and fits with the knowledge of that time, but its still not enough feathers, and they are absolutely oversized. The size of the Jurassic Park "Velociraptors" is more in line with larger Maniraptors like Deinonychus, but they were still called "Velociraptors" because that name is just easier to casually say than "Deinonychus". In Jurassic World 1 Wu actually discussed that issue relatively early in the movie when people were doubtful what the genetic modification of Indominus had to do with reviving real dinosaurs and explained that none of the dinosaurs in the park have ever been "real dinosaurs", but they were all just "park monsters", because they all needed to be genetically modified to get a completed DNA string together. Then, n Jurassic World 3, Wu announces that they finally managed to create the first clones of pure dinosaur DNA, and the result of that is the Pyroraptor we see in the frozen barrage scene. That guy is still a bit oversized, but the amount and kind of feathers it has is what you'd also expect to see on a real Velociraptor, and the JP 3 ones are still not even close to that.

The dream raptor scene always kind of bothered me until I found out there was a deleted scene of Grant seeing videos of the dinosaurs on the island and those raptors make a debut. No idea why they cut that, since it would help people get the whole "Why does Grant dream of the new raptors when all he's seen were the old ones?" thing people winge about lol. I am very glad that someone else thinks this film has merits, I've always really enjoyed it and as a life long JP fan, it really bugs me when people just write it off completely. I absolutely love the raptors in this film, they're my favorites in the franchise, and the other dinosaurs are great too! And Eric is a badass, surviving alone for 8 weeks as a kid? Awesome! His parents annoyed me but at the same time, they're so real...like, I have known divorced adults that act like them lol. And the Udesky scene freaked me out so much as a kid, it was so messed up but at the same time made me love the intelligence given to the raptors this time around. People also cry about how different the biomes are from The Lost World but have they ever seen Lord of the Rings? Filmed completely in New Zealand, so you get snow and prairie and jungle and forest and mountains within a few hours of each other, so it's completely possible that the biomes in JP3 are on the same island! Also, love the disdain you showed for Jack Horner...I hate that man with a passion XD T-rex I believe was like a lion, scavengers because why not make use of free meat? But also hunter that can take down whatever it wants when it wants. The Spino gets a lot of flak for killing the Rex, but honestly it and the Cerato are faves of mine too; poor Cerato only got a few seconds of screen time, he was robbed XD

It is that first hint you get that they aren't just bringing back dinosaurs anymore. This was the island where they were doing all kinds of mad experiments. Hot take, I actually like that Ellie and Alan aren't together in this movie, it's quite realistic, they're still really good friends but they just weren't compateable as partners, you can tell there was no bad blood between them and the breakup was amiacable. It shows that a character can still have a happy ending and a meaningful relationship with a character of the opposite sex without the need for them to be together. That is until Dominium came around and turned that from a meaningful and subversive end to the story to a pointless roadblock to the happy ending.

Am I the only JP fan who enjoys Jurassic Park 3 _more_ than the Lost World? TLW has more epic moments thanks to the T-Rex pair, but that's about it. In my opinion, JP3 is overall scarier and more tense than TLW. TLW is stuffed with idiotic characters, has a comically evil villain, and a little girl uses her gymnastics to kill a fully grown raptor in a moment that can only be described as movie shlock. I also feel that Malcolm works best as a supporting character and that Grant is better as the main character, so JP3 bringing Sam Neill back into the starring role was amazing. People who watched TLW as a child and JP3 as a teenager/adult don't realize that the Lost World has a ton of nostalgia carrying it. But hey, the movie has the best T-Rex rampages in the whole franchise, so it's a fun watch anyway.

It's simply too short for a Jurassic Park movie, and it had an anti-climactic ending. They, perhaps, could've added a few more mercs in the movie. And the Spinosaurus snapping the T-rex's neck... It could've at least ruined its throat with a bite and a few scratches before hitting it off a cliff with its slightly larger tail it could've had. Other than that, this was an epic film with a lot of suspense and dinosaur action. Oh yeah, and the raptor dream... They could've just let the raptor walk towards Alan on the plane and, you know, not talk. He could've just woken up from the fright. It's not like he needs to be called by his name in order to be waked lol

in the storyboard the fight was inconclusive but it also showed spinosaurus kicking out at the t rex, enough to cause a huge wound and cover grant in a sea of its blood, and the scene ends when grant escapes and the spinosaurus is hovering over the t rex now on its side, looking perilous. so there were multiple approaches to the scene in question and i guess they chose the most simple and "badass"

I thought the T-Rex was invincible and pulling the rug out from under us with that was excellent. Plus, the Spino is like an old-school slasher villain that just will not stop. The raptors in this one were GORGEOUS!! Having Red as the lead raptor in JW would have been sick. They really took them in such an unexpected direction with the designs and colors and I loved the communication/intelligence side of them in this. Sure there are some wonky bits here and there and the script could have had some better conflict or character development, but the creature work shined in this one. I actually like to think that as soon as Ben and Eric get stuck in the tree something came around to investigate. But the killing of the T-Rex (which isn’t a full grown Rex because they wanted the Spino to look way bigger, also if it had been full sized that Rex would’ve kicked ass) is still unforgivable to me and fills me with anger and unhappiness. It’s been 22 years and I still skip that scene even now. I know you don’t feel it’s a bad thing but the T-Rex (who has become one of the most iconic dinosaurs of all time) was and is THE Dino of Jurassic Park and is the face of the franchise. Killing one of them to make the Spino look tougher was not the best decision.

No the T Rex that the Spino killed was a full grown adult, it's stated in the script it was an adult, however it was the smallest adult T Rex introduced to the series.

The reason why a lot of people hate the fight is not so much that the T rex lost, but because we clearly see the T rex had the spinos neck in its mouth at one point. The T rex had the largest bite force ever that should have killed him right then and there.
Also the Dino expert they had didn’t like T rex and believed them to be inferior

I used to be obsessed with this movie as a kid, I would watch it over and over and over again to the point that I started drawing scenes from the movie when I started school. I was like 6 at the time, so I dunno if it's because I genuinely loved the movie, or if it was because it was one of the few movies I had to watch as a kid and I just kinda latched onto it, but I have very fond memories growing up with it.

  • @fran3ro

It's the third best JP movie.
Edit: I have been thinking a posible fix for this movie. I'd change the parents from bankrupt to powerful tycoon who love their kid but never had the time for him. Make them the kind of people who do as they please and never take a no for an awnser. Take out the spinosaurus and instead make them be chased by the chameleon-like carnotaurus (in the second book). Add some T-Rex chases like the one in the river (in the first book). Give more time to the mercenaries and add a few more. Hell, you can even make a whole new movie without the kid and family, just the mercenaries and Dogdson (like the second book) trying to get the samples a previous team failed to do, and they kidnaped Grant as their expert.

Or add the new shape Spinosaur and have an epic riverscene with it, but having a Carni chase them in the beginning sounds good and then T-Rex. But I have a soft spot in my heart for the latest version of Spinosaur, it's something cool about an Animal that both crawl on all four, runs on two legs and swim.

I will take JP3 over the Jurassic World trilogy any day of the week. People focus way too much on the talking raptor. Yes, it was dumb . It was also 0.5 seconds - get over it. I appreciated that JP3 was concerned only with delivering 90 minutes of solid, big-budget dino-thrills. Can you imagine JP3 trying to be a 2.5 hour slog like garbage Dominion was? The pacing in JP3 is what I loved the most about it besides the Spinosaurus. The design, VFX and distinct roar are all S-Tier. Spino doesn't get the love he deserves. I know the Spino isn't particularly scientifically accurate, but these movies have also called Deynonichuses and Utah Raptors "Velociraptors" since 1993. Speaking of raptors, this also had the best-designed raptors in both franchises. Fight me. I was 13 when this movie came out and don't claim to have a lot of media literacy even now at 35, but I know my love for this is more than just nostalgia. There's plenty to like, even for irony-poisoned audiences of today. I think if people gave it a second chance, they would see how much more heart it has than any of the Jurassic World movies.

I think the thing most people don't realize is that if a movie it is not as good as the rest of the series, it doesn't mean it's bad.
As a kid, nothing beat the Jurassic park intros. This one in particular traumatized me, though. To this day I cannot see a paraglider without thinking of that scene. The birdcage scene, the spino chase, the velociraptor jumpscare in the lab- there's a reason little me never shut up about any of these films, this one included.

I mean Dr Grant does literally say to Billy after he takes the eggs, "if you die it's just me and the tourists." (Might've been a damn before tourists, but i dont remember). My issue with the rex dying is it happens after it has it's bone crushing jaws around the neck of the spino crashing down a couple times, had that not been in the fight id have no issue with the rex dying.

Don’t think there’s ever been a movie that showed the bite power of the Rex. It always gets nerfed
When JP3 was made, you might remember this was during the high time of the “Rex was a scavenger” theory.

  • @Fruadlantbastard
    @Fruadlantbastard Před 8 měsíci +6

I find it more hilarious and fun to watch when this Scavenger Rex is presented as the best combative fighter Trex of the entire franchise when comparing every Fight a Rex had, furthermore is how great the angles where for the fight and how crazy the BIQ is presented for the Rex kicking the Spino's ass and the immense Power the Spino contains when he just 1 shot'd the Rex after landing a direct bite, I do however wish we got Carcharodontosaurus, would have made more sense and been more logical, for palaeontology for a movie's performance, the OG still is the best!
