- Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow recently made headlines when he said Jurassic Park should have probably never become a franchise. Indeed, many consider Steven Spielberg’s 1993 masterpiece a seminal and singular work. Still, it was such a smash that no one could resist turning it into a franchise, including Spielberg himself, who kicked things off with The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The third film, Jurassic Park III, was a critical failure. However, Jurassic World was a huge hit, like the sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the trilogy-capper Jurassic World: Dominion. All three films crossed the magic billion dollar mark overseas, but of the six Jurassic Park films to do, which of them is worth your time? Then simple, yet significant thumbnail screw-ups. Chadwick Boseman was NOT in crimson tide! And tho I forget the movie atm, it said "27 years ago today..." for a movie released very not 27 years ago.

Some corrections to point out:
- 8:25... Ian Malcolm was actually led to Isla Sorna, not back to Isla Nublar.
- 10:10 to 10:15... THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK was not the highest-grossing movie of all time. It just had the biggest opening weekend up to that point.
- 12:24 to 12:36... JURASSIC PARK III was not the highest-grossing movie of 2001, it's the 8th h.g. movie of 2001.
- 12:37... the movie's called JURASSIC PARK III.
- 17:33 to 17:37... JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM did not make just over $47 million in it's first weekend. It made $148 million.

I think the series could have ended after Lost World. Lost World was nowhere on par with Jurassic Park, but it did have an ending with dinosaurs being left alone on an island with that Hammond speech

And even though it was because of studio/industry pressure that it was written to begin with, it was at least based on a Crichton novel. I own the original trilogy in a box set, but I consider The Lost World to be the only legitimate JP sequel.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park has aged very well. And when you compare TLW to the sequels after it, TLW deserves an apology.
Oh, JP3 is a terrible movie. I like the first half of the movie, but it falls completely apart in the 2nd half of it.

First disclaimer: I like all six movies a would watch them again.
But the first and only original Jurassic Park is soooo much better than any sequel. For me this is one of few near perfect movies ever made.
And that is the biggest problem I have with sequels, they are so much weaker than original... but it's hard to compete against perfection - now go watch all of them.
Unpopular opinion but I think JP3 is the 2nd best movie and gets over hated for no reason, it’s legit a very enjoyable movie.
Only thing to know is the first is the best...rest could be skipped

One, the dinosaurs weren't indigenous to the island...they were placed there after cloning. One of the motivations of the storyline is that that aren't indigenous.

29 years and I saw Jurassic Park 1 in theaters.
As bad as Fallen Kingdom and Dominion were, the actress playing Maisie, Isabella Sermon, was amazing. Her performance is great in both those films

At the beginning of Jurassic Park, only one worker is killed by the velociraptor, not a whole "crew".
This vid is a do-over. Great concept and clearly took a lot of time, but it contains so much false info and wasn’t carefully researched. To mispronounce the author’s name and then release the video anyway is actually a sign of disrespect in media/entertainment/journalism/etc. You also instantly lose all credibility the moment the viewer/listener hears the mistake, warranted or not. This comes off like the well-delivered and rehearsed book report by the kid that didn’t actually read the book.

In my opinion, you can stop the movies at Jurassic world. Fallen Kingdom and Dominion were fine for dinosaur films, but the Clone girl was rather annoying.
The character was awful/insufferable but her actress was adorable and did a good job.
She had very little to work with.

The Lost World was never the highest grossing movie of all time and Batman Forever damn sure wasn't! The highest grossing overall film at that time was the first Jurassic Park which held the all-time title until it was dethroned by Titanic. I'm thinking maybe you meant the highest-grossing May debut perhaps? You guys need to really do a better job of writing and researching. This video was full of glaring mistakes
The only movie that matters is the original Jurassic Park. The new millennium sucks and everyone born in it just doesn't haven't anything better to compare with.
To bad they ruined the franchise to do movies less and less worth.
- How they major changed John Hammond's fundamental thinking and business going from JP to TLW was just horrible. From wanting to create something astonishing and ground-breaking to become an animal & enviromental hippie. That is NOT what Hammond ever would go out from its source material, the original novel.
- The Lost World would have been a MUCH better story if it had followed the book. Or instead of following logic that InGen wants to re-capture all there Dinosaurs = owned I.P and create a dark and bloody battle story of how dangerous and rsiky such major operation can be - We get an stupid "Save the Earth & Animals message movie" where InGen are made like common bad guys and the "heroes" free-taking of the captured Dinosaurs who resulted in a lot of dead people and pointing out how good they are and how bad they are etc.
- Jurassic Park III is very pointless and beside Dr. Alan Grant and his apprentice Todd, all other characters are so uninteresting and unneeded. Or that the entire movie was more or less built around using a "unnatural" Spinosaurus who was not near acting like it should as it was a fish-easting land walker (yeah I know its a movie, but some level please) and that it was meant to be BADDER then the Tyranosaurus Rex = having a kill-off battle /that the fans not either liked, approved or believed would happen in real life).
- Jurassic World is THE only sequel that made any sence since or after Jurassic Park was made. It followed the original Hammond logic from its source material wanted to re-build JP and correct all misstakes from the previous park. Also having more knowledge on dinosaurs etc. further strenghten it all. And using for ONE movie a giant frankenstein monster of a hybrid dinosaur goes fully wrong works for ONE movie.
- Jurassic Park World: Fallen Kingdom was just wrong on SO MANY levels. It is THE worst movie of the entire franchise. All in all it is a rushed movie prohect wher they wanted to build the bridge to another movie....with-out having already a full-plan for next movie. Claire Dering was a business woman who had investment and personel responsibility - No knowledge about dinosaurs in Jurassic World. BUT here she not only knows somehow a lot about them she is also actively now working to protect them and be there supporting friend? NO, she is not that character. And that obnoxius female vetrinarien who spew out all kinds of feminism doctrine? NO.
Having focus on a cloned person in a dinosaur franchise? NO. Having it be from an limited character who had near nothing to do with Jurassic Park and InGen's founding beside dying in the novel early on?NO. Having another frankenstein monster dinosaur? No, just NO.
- Jurassic World Dominion: Having the audience to believe dinosaurs are taking over...with all the guns we have in our world to stop it? No one bought that. Having free-roaming dinosaurs and people not reacting in the middle of a city? Not well written or CGI made. Having ONCE AGAIN focusing on that cloned girl who no one really cares story wise about and now her DNA is the "key" to a stupid story about locuses...in a Jurassic Park movie about dinosaurs? NOOOO.
Having Dr. Henry Wu creating the locuses...lost contro lof them and regret all and all of a sudden says that the cloned girls mother (?) (who NEVER BEFORE IN THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE EVER EVEN BEEN MENTIONED AS A SCIENTIST and all of a sudden is the "bestest ever" who not only was smarter then Dr. Henry Wu = the original creatror of ALL dinosaurs in JP she also was there in the original JP and was THE lead scentist....and now they change the story that the old man from previous movie did not clone her daughter, but the daughter SOMEHOW cloned herself, impregnated herself WITH-OUT another man's semen to make a clone baby....of herself and also a PERFECT clone baby with-out any human flaws = WTF is this s#it in a JP movie? NOOOO. Just NOOOO).
Or that we have a female colored pilot who serves no purpose other then being a current thing; a lesbian, a colored woman, having a man-like attitude and serve as an female varient of Owen Grady = Filler character. Or having the old gang from JP running around but really serving ni real purpose other then "nostalgic baiting" and then forcing us to have them all old & new know a lot about each-other....No, it all felt so socialy unnatural to press in.
They should have just let it alone after JP3.

I thought I was real clever when I took out the literal film from the VHS and put in some some hardcore pornography. But that all came crashing down one day after dinner when my preteen siblings were in the living room and I heard moaning and ball slapping and my sister say "I don't remember this part". The Adult-erated movie had made its way into our general VHS collection and they put it on essentially in front of the whole family (our home had an open layout and my parents were in the kitchen cleaning up) . I immediately sprung into action and ejected the tape and ran upstairs with it. My father shortly behind me banging on the door demanding I hand it over.

I walked out on “The Lost World”. The reason the first one worked was so excellent is because it was an adaptation of an already excellent story. Missing a few scary parts from the book but mostly put the essence of that book perfectly. The Lost World was a bastardization of the source material and became a shitty Godzilla movie at the end

the lost world is the most slept movie.. the irony is people don't like it, however they keep reusing the whole concept (the entire Jurassic World trilogy).
The ending of fallen kingdom is so BS that made me freaking mad. I didn't even watched the last one. The clone girl liberates all the dinosaurs to free roam around the country (causing destruction, death and god knows what more), just because "they are clones like her, so they deserve to be free". Man, **ck this plot.
One exception for third movies not being good is the Bourne Ultimatum.

Yeah, while Jim Carrey has some range and is good at what he does (present day nonsense aside), I think he would have been a pretty terrible Ian Malcom. I mean, it's possible he could have played a good variant of the character, a bit different from Goldblum who really pulled off the 'sexy new age professor' type at the time, I just don't know what Carrey would have done to make the character work. They'd have had to change the dialogue up I expect, make him more of the 'humorous but weird esoterica thinker' type instead. Jackson was pretty underutilized I think. He played the role well, but such an ignominious off-screen death. I don't blame Harrison Ford for passing on it, since Grant is basically a tamer Indiana Jones.
The way they ended the last movie, explaining away that the locust plague was solved off-camera pissed me off more than Tea Leoni being cast in the third movie. It wasn't lazy writing by the writers - there was NO writing by the writers for that one. Just a bunch of wankers sitting around smoking pot and drooling.

When I was a kid? I always liked the Lost World better dot dot but as I got older. I like the first one the best.

I love the original trilogie more than the second one.
All you need to know about Jurassic park is the first movie is absolutely epic and amazing. The sequels got worse with each one (Chris Pratt being the only good thing about the new movies). Then the last two installments were absolutely garbage trash films. Fast and furious levels of bad just with cgi dinosaurs that spend more time looking at the actors they are supposed to be chasing than actually doing anything scary

The original is really the only one worth talking about, like every other movie series ever..... except Trainspotting, I really enjoyed t2, probably more that the original, the dead baby and depravity make it pretty hard to watch...
I never read Jurassic Park but obviously loved the movie. Then I eventually saw at some book store there was a sequel so I read that shit quick as hell and then they made the movie and I had already read the book and it was pretty cool
The original book is the only book that was too good to put down. I read it in 2 days even forgoing the Sunday crossword to keep reading!

I saw JP3 in the theater. The spinosaurus was the most terrifying. The sounds it made and those dead black shark eyes really got to me. I didn’t like the ending.
In the end, the first JP 1993 and JW 2015 are the only required viewing. The rest are for completionists.
