It absolutely won’t hurt bama, but if your team is a mid major or lesser, nil will become a death sentence to your school making it impossible for you to compete.

True story - Back in the early 1970s my next neighbor was an asst. coach for a major football program that has won several national championship. After a few brewskis, I asked him "Hey, do college players get money to play, honestly?" He replied "Oh, yeah. It's been going on for decades and will keep going because the alumni will do anything to beat their rivals."
Players deserve $$$. I witnessed Johnny Manziel playing against Alabama his soph. year and the stands were SRO and spilling over. He made A&M mucho dollars while there. I paid $1K for the two tickets and it was worth every penny ;-)
Saban broke code. Nobody said a word or scrutinized it when he was getting #1 recruiting classes over and over. Now he's blabbing about other programs because the playing field is more level. Guess it ain't no fun when the rabbit's got the gun.

It's no secret that Texas is where you want to be as a football coach. All that oil money means there's lots of rich alumni in Texas who take football very serious. They entertain guests in the stadium sky box and they don't want to lose. FSU ain't a bad place to be, but Texas is where it's at if you think you can handle it.

Coach Fisher responded like someone caught with their hand in the cookie jar and the only way out is to get mad. He never denied the paying of players, as a matter of fact, he confirmed it by his comment about Coach Saban denying 17 year olds the opportunity to make a large amount of money.

I don't know...I have always thought a lot of Saban especially. It seems that perhaps, the coaches are wagging their tongues way too much in press conferences. Maybe they are using this to gain an edge, get into the opponents heads before the season ever starts, or the players...whatever the reason, it does not bode well.

All your mid majors will fall behind and it will be Texas schools with oil baron donors, USC, Bama, Miami, and OSU every year for the end of time. There will be no drop off years this time for them and any school behind them won’t be able to compete in recruiting to get to that point.

What Sabin said is spot on. Texas A+M never had a number 1 recruiting season until they were allowed to legally buy their players. It’s called Name, Identity, and Likeness. Designed so that colleges can’t make money off of players even though their exploiting them on video games and merchandising. Alumni have taken the opportunity and changing it to buy recruits.
