My problem with the game is, when I think of playable Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang & King Shark I didn't want to be using guns
Let alone that the three of them would be so damn similar.
They can all basically fly

Massively discounted within a month and dumped on Game Pass/ PS Plus a week after that with still nobody playing it.
They destroyed that studio, everyone left them already, what remains if being tortured to spit out these abominations no one asked for.

@@purefoldnz3070That what exactly rocksteady was trying to make after the release of Arkham knight apparently rocksteady made a small demo type project on superman game and showed it to WB which in WB response rejected I think it’s because Wb hates superman games probably since they think superman isn’t something to cash grab on since there are very few superman games or him being not the most famous superhero probably since people think Spider-Man or batman takes that tittle which is not true since superman is beloved by many , Wb also announced that they are focusing heavily on live service games due to hogwarts legacy being a major success with 15 million copies sold probably making the game one of the most anticipated or sold video game in the market. Wb games years ago tried to make a Arkham game which expanded the lore on the franchise as a whole by making a Batman beyond type game and I think I may be wrong but the project art was posted by one of the artists that initially was suppose to work in that abandoned game and the project also was called project mammoth or something like that I can’t remember.
Regardless of the gacha aspect in Genshin Impact, I think John was on the money about how it nailed live-service game marketing by putting the characters, story, and world as the front & center in their promotions. That thing's over 3 years old and still wildly popular.
It looks like a Rocksteady cinematic story unfortunately tied to what will be gacha style grindy gameplay for cosmetics

We need another batman game that ups the quality of gameplay, graphics and open world of arkham knight.
Basically a batman game that take the strength of each arkham game like the atmosphere of asylum, the bossfights of origins/city, a technical marvel on the level of knight and a story on the level of city and origins?
That would be objectively be the best arkham game. Unfortunately it'll be missing Kevin Conroy.

With Sefton Hill no longer at Rocksteady and the passing of Kevin Conroy, I think I'm good if Arkham Knight is the last Batman game ever made as I honestly don't think there's much left to be done within the action genre with the character.
The problem with this game is the playable characters. Who wants to play as a shark, killing people with guns
The downside of long game development: this probably made some sense when they came up with it in, say, 2018. Now it's DOA.
The thing about the "Arkham"-games is: They really make you FEEL like Batman!

I have new clue what any of you are saying technically but the idea that CZcamss encoding settings and how people use them can impact a game’s perception and look is new information for me to take in. Honestly, I don't think anybody cares about the SSquad. Heck, even Gotham Knights didn't get that hype. I think they should've gone with the Joker/Harley combo. Something like Waller semi-cures them, or something where they could implement some kind of sanity meter, suppressing their real psycho selves enough through some gimmick. People would've jumped on top of that to play as the Prince of Darkness. They could've added choices that contribute to the morality of who the duo used to be before the 'accident.' The Scarecrow levels would've worked as you fight the monster within. Something like 'Spider-Man: Web of Shadows' where your choices would depend on the dark Joker side or the 'hero' side. I'm ranting here. Definitely not a buy for me. The story is not for me, the characters are not for me, and it's way too 'Marvel-ish' for my taste.
Everybody who's a fan of Rocksteady is severely depressed. It's like you already know what's about to happen to them after this game comes out. Its taken so long for this game to come out that the IP it's based on has pretty much came and went. Supposedly Rocksteady pitched a Superman game but WB didn't want it they wanted this. So now this studio will get punished for making what some moron WB executive wanted.

From reports from the other year, Rocksteady were making Gotham Knights and development changed over to Suicide Squad. Blame WB, not rocksteady. This is like EA forcing Bioware to make anthem
The problem with Google/CZcams is they intentionally obfuscate what are "best" settings to encode your video bc it's not in their interest to have high quality footage. It's about maximizing streaming bandwidth and storage. Their posted recommendations will not get your videos to look their best. I realized this during my Xbox 360 days. I used to think that if the game was 720p30, I should record it that way. But then it look worse and choppier than when I actually played it. So then I started recording in 720p60 and suddenly it looked so great on CZcams. It might have been a tad smoother than the actual gameplay but it was much much closer to the visual presentation of your gameplay.
The problem is this is a billion dollar professional game studio/publisher that should know better. If DF can do it then so should these game companies.

You are totally off here. Game studios have publishers and marketing deparements. Their job is literally marketing the game to us the consumers and if they are going to do that through CZcams then they better do it properly. The marketing/publishing team is lit

Last year I would have considered playing it for the story alone despite the mediocre gameplay, but after they announced it requires a constant internet connection even when playing alone, that's a miss for me
Looks like the avengers game all over again. The environment feels like a dc universe city. Super last gen. Doesn’t look like there’s any love there in the creation of it.
If you guys watch the suicide squad game on slow motion you can see how much of the game is not finished

Myself, have a simple gaming channel max out my hdr and bitrate and I get a TON of compliments about how crisp my videos look. Its a disservice to the game when it looks like mud

If the game is always online it should be free. Why should people pay the same for a game they can keep forever as one that could be shut off 2 days after it launches?
Always online is an instant no from me.
They only have to design one character with four different skins; the only difference is the movement speed, damage, health, and a few special moves. It's so blatant that it's hard not to get mad about it.
There is no power fantasy here; the Arkham series is about feeling like Batman. I still don't understand who you feel like in this game. Deadshot is the closest to playing the way all four main characters play; otherwise, who thinks of Boomerang or King Shark when grappling, flying, and firing guns? When you think of Boomerang you think of, well, a boomerang with some maybe special tech gimmicks, King Shark? A hulk-like fighter who bites people's heads off, crashing through brick walls. Harley's whole thing is moving like a gymnast with a giant hammer and maybe a large six-shooter. It's just so obvious they just shoehorned all of this into the core design out of necessity. This was simply not made to be fun, it was made to be profitable, and you can feel it.

They're doing a closed Alpha, while I think the game looks middling at best, perhaps hands on will change that. Perhaps for the better, more likely for the worst, but I do not want to discount this game right away before I have played it. At the very least, if it is fun and the story is good, I will gladly play it solo and with friends. But if the content ends up being severely lacking as most GAAS tend to be, then oh well, let it fail and maybe they won't do it again. If they do decide to try it again if it this fails then I suppose Rocksteady can R.I.P. as a studio as it will surely destroy them.
Do you have to buy the game to access it?
They try to copy Insomniacs Spiderman games and make it co-op. Problem is, the Spiderman games have great stories and a lot of things to do in the city. The Suicide Squad looks like a mix of Crackdown and Agents of Mayhem to me, with a bit of Sunset Overdrive. Let´s hope it is more as the latter. I still don´t get who wants this? Why make a Suicide Squad shooter?? It makes no sense to me and if this fails, it could be Rocksteady´s nail in the coffin. I don´t wan´t to know how much money they put in this but with all the delays and extra worktime i think it´s a lot. Why not make a Harley and Joker game? That could be fun.

Well first off Spider-man, Miles, and SM2, all do a great job of capturing what it feels like to be Spiderman.
There is almost nothing about this that makes me feel outside of Deadshot, that the other three characters are going to play like how you would imagine they would feel to be in real life. That's the big elephant in the room here, the game looks like four Deadshots with four different skins, slightly changes movement speeds, and armor levels, with a few special moves to give the illusion of playing different people. It's so sad.

@@Pointman11111 barely at all. It was literally designed for minimum effort to need to be expended and of course it also means the game is super simple in terms of design. If they actually had to make four distinct characters that would mean four distinct play styles, and that’s not what this games is. It’s helicopters with giant purple buttons you shoot at until they fall out of the sky. It’s endless waves of enemies you shoot and kill to get loot that barely alters the game in any meaningful way. It’s gonna have a game pass, so buckle up I hope you enjoy your Skinner box.

Game looks like a Sunset Overdrive sequel. Which wouldn't be terrible without the DC wrapper.
If they wanna sell this game make it come with a remastered Arkham Knight running at 4k 60fps on consoles and Ray tracing on PC. Make it the only way to get this remaster.

Honestly, this game doesn’t do anything to me and I was a big Rocksteady fan thanks to the Arkham games. But this ain’t my thing.
To me, this game looks like it could be fun, but in the context of the Suicide Squad, it makes no sense. Characters doing things with tools and abilities they don't normally have is such a strange decision.

exactly like John said, Rocksteady is a competent developer, even with Sefton Hill gone, i know they can do so much more than just making a looter shooter, but so far, they seem to only focus on 'fun' transversal and vertical shooting. They might do something creative with boss fights, i would be mad if all we do is pumping Superman full of anti metahuman bullets, but that won't be enough for me to spent $70 on this game. I'd rather wait for it to come to Game Pass like Gotham Knights
Most modern are only built to accommodate battle passes, purchasable currency and micro transactions stores. Blame the whales.

Dudes, a 720p30 AVC video of Arkham Knight still looks better than this game at 8K60+HDR in AV1... sometimes an ugly game is just an ugly game.
Is it still a live service always online game? If so no thanks. Sad to see Rocksteady go this route. Waited almost a decade for them to release a game again for this? Sad.
The thing is... maybe showing it at a 1080p lower bitrate... may be to actually hide the quality of said textures.

I was already not a fan of Batman being as jumpy as he is in the "Arkham" games, although it was fine in a cartoonish videogame-way. - But this... This is just trying to emulate Fortnite, or even further back, "Just Cause", which essentially is the same thing, with your character upright in the air and using a cable or any other means to keep floating in the air, all the while shooting things up. - It's so generic and stupid. Though, I'd much rather just play any "Just Cause" game then. At least there's an END to those games, as they do have a campaign or story, and you can just go completionist on it try to do everything there's to do. Not a "live service" that keeps getting mediocre content and probably "events" and "seasons" and crap to BUY for no reason. - Yea, just play "Just Cause" or something instead. And if you're not interested, do it out of spite. - Let's all just jump into the "JC2 Multiplayer Mod" when this game releases.

This looks so bad, you can try anything, I won't even bother playing this thing if it was free, today there are better games for free believe it or not.
I really loved the Avengers, the single player story that is. Awesome story, writing, acting and graphics IMO. Why can't these studios adapt an episodic TV or movie single player GAAS model? I'd pay a DLC or subscription fee for a new "season" of games like the Avengers if the story and quality are good.

I don't understand the push back this game is getting. John was saying that the studio has abandoned everything... this isn't Batman 4. It's a totally different game. I don't get it. A studio can make more than one type of game. Spider-Man isn't Insomniac abandoning Ratchet and Clank. Forza Horizon existing doesn't mean that Turn 10 has abandoned the sim racer. Studios can make different games. I don't know why that's like a sin now. It's one game. It just so weird to me that people have developed this thing that like studio can only make one specific game, and any deviation means they've completed abandoned everything they've done in the past.
It's similar to when Sony announces they're working on a co-op game, people start pretending like Horizon, Spider-Man, Death Stranding, and God of War don't exist. They say stuff like Sony only makes multip-player games and will never make another single player ever again. All off of them saying they're going to make one game that's different. People jump to extreme hyperbole so quickly.
You assume that the same people that made the Batman trilogy are now working on this live service title and they could go back to a traditional Batman game afterwards. That's not how this industry works like at all, "Rocksteady" is just a name. Employee retention is completely nonexistent. With how long this title has been in development its very likely that there was some kind of exodus occurring at Rocksteady.
Just as an example, over 70% of staff on Redfall left Arkane Austin during development. For all we know, the same thing could have happened at Rocksteady as well.
Also, Sony has SIXTEEN live service multiplayer games planned for the next years. There's no need for extreme hyperbole, the reality already is. How many single player games of AAA quality can Sony produce alongside sixteen GaaS titles??

I think the other issue is it feels like the team just isn't that invested in this game, it has this quality of feeling like it's a thing we did, but it just never seems to get to that place even just from the art design that gives you the impression they love this game. It just feels like one giant paycheck for everyone involved.
