@@elizabethj.347 yes because the rich avoid taxes, if they paid taxes correctly there would be more money in the system and basic rates would go up enough for people to get jobs and house themselves
This story reminds me of the “dancing cat disease” (aka Minamata Disease) which resulted from mercury poisoning from industrial waste being dumped into the water supply in Minamata, Japan in the 50’s. It’s a really crazy story involving dancing/suicidal cats and a government cover up.
I know what you're talking about, but I dont what you mean about cats. Yeah some were poisoned too but it's a human rights violation. The people were poisoned, why would it be just about cats?
We need a Dark History episode on this story.
Definitely looking that up. Thank You!

The red shoes remind me of Hans Christian Anderson's Red Shoe fairytale ! It's not as well known as the Little Mermaid and others but is way way darker ! I guess this must have been the inspo
Side note: in the original wizard of oz books the shoes were silver. The wizard of oz was the first movie made in color. The studio felt red would look better on screen. Thus the silver slippers became ruby slippers. Not aware of any link to the dancing plague but I wouldn’t put it past a Hollywood designer.

Even today professionals in the medical fields are trying to figure this "plague " out. Ergot may have had a hand in it, as if one consumes food with this mold on it, it produces hallucinogenic effects. (LSD.) Entertaining story. This time span of history regarding the Dance Macabre has always been intriguing , although sad.
Ergot + tertiary syphilis sounds about right
The Danse Macabre is one of my favourite special interest topics! It's a brilliant momento mori and has sparked some beautiful arts and music.
The Red Shoes thing just made me think of the movie about a ballerina playing a character who wore curse red ballet shoes that kept her dancing no matter how hard she tried to stop she couldn’t .
I haven’t heard of that movie but ill have to look it up, the red shoes thing made me think about Louis Vuitton’s red bottoms and the messed up history of designer brands/ the fashion industry and wonder where else / how else red shoes references throughout history

When Bailey was talking about waking up in Strausburg, finding your kid dead, etc at 9:15 and getting back home and your wife has made some soup for you, I was legit waiting for her to go "...aquatifana..."🤣
This needs more attention. The wife is at home, also starving, probably getting beat, considering giving up her kids so they don't starve and homeboy comes home empty handed again. Aqua Tofanaaaaaa

Anyone that’s felt that “restless leg” feeling can relate to these people, whatever the cause of it is.
Right???? i feel you
Restless legs is the absolute worst. It's like no matter what you do it doesn't go away. Can't sleep, can't stretch, cant stay still.
@@berlyngrey9242 I don't wish it on anyone! Its such a hard feeling to describe for people that haven't experienced it because its so intense and just unstoppable! I've spent HOURS walking up and down the stairs trying to get a little relief!
I ended up getting this liquid calcium/magnesium supplement (I think the brand was Blue Bonnet) and 2 big tablespoons of that stuff before bed actually gave me enough relief to sleep.
Watching this video it was all I could think about, and wondering what those people consumed that caused them to experience this!
@@nicolehealy7833 oh wow. Thankfully the longest in one time I dealt with it was a few hours. I just kicked my legs and kept stretching them which I was informed makes it worse. I'd even massage my leg muscles hoping to curb it. I get it worse in my arms though. I was told muscles relaxers help but as I stay away from narcotics I've also heard tonic water helps too. I haven't had it in awhile thankfully but if it happens again I'll give your method or the tonic water a try.

Your line about people being gaslighted by the Church all the time leading them to become hysterical, really made me put things today in perspective. Wow.
I think times have changed a bit.
Yes. Today it's simply the government hoarding the money, tossing bread crumbs at the peasants and pitting the peasants against each other over whose pile of crumbs is bigger so nobody noticed that they promote themselves and take an exorbitant amount of money while we as a country are trillions in debt. Who needs a paycut? Not the working jo struggling to feed his or her children.
Churchgoers are highly known addicts and alcoholics, The devil is in the temple

We are still being gaslighted lol...except now it's the government doing it.

She will be recognizing Bailey's voice. They hear everything going on around them in Utero. To fit in with today's History I will add a trivia feature; THE UNBORN LOVE TO DANCE! 🕺 💃 Just maybe not the hopping around part.
About St. Vitus "In Germany, his feast was celebrated with dancing before his statue. This dancing became popular and the name "Saint Vitus Dance" was given to the neurological disorder Sydenham's chorea. It also led to Vitus being considered the patron saint of dancers and of entertainers in general."
About the Sydenham's Chorea Disorder "Sydenham's chorea, also known as chorea minor and historically and occasionally referred to as St Vitus' dance, is a disorder characterized by rapid, uncoordinated jerking movements primarily affecting the face, hands and feet. Sydenham's chorea is an autoimmune disease that results from childhood infection with Group A beta-haemolytic Streptococcus."

I have a coworker like bailey. Everyone should have a bailey. Helps to keep a little sanity 😊
custume 😩😩😩😩
I get so sad when Bailey doesn't pop in on Mondays. It's like being stood up on a much needed date. I then in return stalk CZcams until she shows her fresh face👀👀. 😂
Same! Im like did we break up? Is this the take a hint part of the event? Baiiiiiileyyyy plz don't goooo.. then she pops up five minutes later and im like 🤗 as if i wasn't just STRESSED!
Yesss I agree
BAILEY YOU NEED TO MAKE A BOOK ABOUT ALL THESE DARK HISTORY STORIES!
I actually learned this in school, it was a random conversation we had in English and we looked up everything and just talked about it when we had free time
"I'm dead" you mean dead GORGEOUS 😍
i love how she has her own official podcast and production but she's so unapologetically her, 'IT'S ME, THE GOOGLE MASTER!!' 'this podcast is hosted by, ME!! BAILEY SARIAN'. Never change Bailey, never change
I LOVED THIS, i felt like i was on a facetime call with you the whole time! pleaseeee do more like this. :)
This. Is. My. Favorite. Episode. Listening to it again. The episode blows my mind and makes me really happy to living in the 2000s
Fun fact: Hans Christian Andersen wrote a story called The Red Shoes. It’s about church, dancing and torture. Coincidence? 🤔🤔
Gives new meaning to Lou boutins doesn't it 👀👀👀
Red shoes are associated with child sacrifice and adrenochrome. Probably why the Pope wears them.
@@ElveeKaye well, this I did not know 😳
@@ElveeKaye chronically online
@@icecream_andcookies Same 😬
"dance, dance, DANCE until you DIE" - Miss Wini of course
Sounds like me at a rave lolz😝

I put a spell on youuuuu 🔮
I learned briefly about St. Vitas Dance in Psychology. I'm glad Bailey gave me a fuller understanding of this mania.
You are a master storyteller Bailey! And this one is truly top tier…
"Her Chuck-E-Cheese adventure was *over.*"
Also, that Joan caw for her answer to you. 🤣💯
The chuckEcheese adventure had me CACKLING like a lunatic at the gym. 😂
The peasants had to drink dirt water with horse poo in it while the rich were just drinking bottled water & snacking on the body of christ!! I love Bailey!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣she's absolutely Amazing
I just can’t!
Bailey I just wanna say that the look you have in your ad breaks should be your everyday look. The blue with your eyes, your hair, everything! Look so beautiful 😍
I heard about this on the radio once like 4 years ago and I’ve wanted to look it up ever since. Like I have “dancing plague of 1518” as a note on my phone. So you’re teaching me about something I’ve been too lazy to research for 4 years.
“Footloose” was loosely based on an actual situation in Elmore City, Oklahoma. As an Okie, it was interesting to hear that back when the movie came out.
They banned music??!!
Hi fellow Okie!!!
Hi fellow Okies!!!
Fellow Okie! 👋 I came here to say the thing!
Wow I didn’t know that! My cousin lives in Lawton!
When is Netflix going to be giving our girl a well deserved part in a horror movie?! Cast Addison Rae but they haven't yet taken Bailey for a flic? 🙄
Ew Addison needs to go away
American Horror Story!
It must be done soon !!!! She doesn't even need a character she could be herself she has so much character on her own.
It's because our girl Bailey is destined to have her own show --- one that will last almost a decade. She's already laid the groundwork for "Dark History with Bailey Serian" to go mainstream, it should happen any day now!
This woman is so talented! With a huge huge very likeable and relatable personality. When she's talking to her audience you feel like she's just talking to you specifically.
I love your content! I would love to see a dark history episode on Chavez Ravine in LosAngeles during the late 40s early 50s
Love the blue eye shadow on you Bailey!!! One of my top favorite looks on you
