  • Roger Federer powered his way through to the quarterfinals of US Open 2019 - seeing off Dan Evans and No. 15 seed David Goffin in consecutive straight sets - in which he dropped a combined nine games! Next up he faced Grigor Dimitrov in an electric atmosphere with tennis worthy of a championship match - as five riveting and dramatic sets gave a packed Arthur Ashe Stadium crowd all that they came for - and more!

    The performance against Goffin was so brutal and devastating .
    Felt bad for Federer in the QF as luck and his body didn't favour him.
    Hopefully he'll be back with a bang .
    Looking forward to see Federer back .

      There is no proper ventilation in US open and Roger is struggling to cope with that considering his age.. Something bothers him in night session. USO have made a big mess of it by almost making like a indoor court.. If u see carefully, he played well under the sun in 2018, 19 and struggled like anything in night sessions.. When the conditions are hotter, the courts plays fast than in night which is a clear advantage for Roger

    I imagine how Roger would do if the US Open courts were as fast as they were 10+ years ago. We saw a glimpse of that at 2017 Shanghai where he flamed Nadal mainly because the court had a 99 speed rating. Meanwhile even Wimbledon is like 70 or lower, slower than lots of hard courts.

    • @jeremie2020
      @jeremie2020 Před 4 lety +4

      @Therka Marka What a stupid comment...it's so "embarrasing" that he's still in the top 5 (4th), had a couple of match points for a 21st GS last year before getting finally robbed the victory at Wimbledon and is still used to being in the quarters/semis and even better in the main tournaments. To me, you're saying that because despite his age, you still see El Maestro as a big threat for anybody on any given day, and you're defintely right in thinking so as he's still playing some great tennis...and hopefully, he still has some gas in the tank for more.;)

      @sperrotta91 Před 4 lety +1

      ‘Difference is’. Federer reached the final of every slam at least once from 2010-2019. Made the semis at RG two years ago and could have won the US Open in 2017 had he not handed Del Potro the third set in the QF... Federer loves a good joke in NYC.

    Let me just say this: Roger should have won this tournament. Novak retiring against Stan opened up the draw, he had a winning record against both Dimitrov and Medvedev, and he hadn't lost to Rafa on a hard court since 2014. But once again he hurt his back and had problems with the temperature in the stadium, for the third straight year. Something tells me that he just doesn't condition himself enough for New York, that's why he always gets hurt or suffers from heat exhaustion.

In 2013 Robredo distroyed him. In 2012 berdych distroyed him. And in 2010 and 2011 he chocked against djokovic. In 2009 he chocked against delpotro.
