A lot of ppl thought Fed was in form to win the USO last year with this match being an example of that form. The reality is Fed's movement is just not good enough to beat Djokovic or any zoning top tier young player these days. Fed's serve, versatility and precision power are still plenty to get through the early rounds. But once he runs into someone with great movement/defense who can counter Fed's aggression with some of their own, or force Fed to go for too much, he gets into trouble. Goffin just doesn't have the power to outclass an in form Federer. But lots of other players (Djokovic, Thiem and some others on occasion, can).

He does it when he wants a safe defensive shot. Its actually really good that he incorporated this shot into his repertoire since hes old and slow now and doesnt get to every ball as fast as he once did.
When he is able to attack he followed through wrappinh around his chest just like he used to, he just isnt on complete offense all the time because he cannot physically dominate. Now he needs to wait for an opportunity and having a reliable defensive shot that can be hit on the run is ver important for surviving long enough to find an opportunity

I just don’t get how he can play like the best player in the world in the 4R and then lose to Dimitrov in the next. Dimitrov is not a much better opponent than Goffin, honestly. His SF run was just a fluke.

@@MrPatrickbuit no, in the second set. it flared up more after the 4th when he took a medical TO. but regardless, grigor outplayed him, and had a real shot in the first two sets against medvedev in the semis.

Alex Wilson uhu “outplayed him.” If you’re the number 3 in the world you shouldn’t get outplayed by Dimitrov. Fact of the matter is, Fed was just shit and Dimitrov profited from it. Dimitrov should have never been in that semifinal. You can say he “challenged” Medvedev, but in reality he lost 3-0.

@@MrPatrickbuit Fact is, Fed was screwed up, when he twerked his back, and Dimitrov the coward, took advantage, from it! What happened to his game next round? He got the stuffings knocked out of him! And what happened to Medvedev in the final, he collapsed, and pissed his pants, like a clown, this whole tournament was a joke, a shambles, they should have just cancelled the whole thing ,after Fed's injury, rather than letting, that joke of a played, Nadul, get a cake walk draw, and piss all over everyone, absolute shit.
