The message is human trafficking which means a person would trade another person for sex and slavoury purposes. Now it may sound too far fetched but just hear me out okay. So the clown may seem happy with the makeup on, (which is a reference to fake happiness) but when he takes it off, it shows how he really feels underneath. So basically the clown is representing a sex slave and the manger is representing an owner and that short is showing how the slave feels and in the end the guy that took the clown to his apartment gave him back and then the "manager" has to give back the money and, well... we know what happens next.

out of all disturbing episodes of cyanide and happiness, la comedie is the only episode that'll keep me awake at night, overthinking about it. it hits too deep that it kinda feel like a message to wake people up about money's nature in the hands of greedy people.
