    This particular car's set up is as follows:
    VMP Odin Kit (88mm Pulley, 93 Octane) and an LTH Cat back
    That is the full extent of the modifications. For now....

    This SC seems to work well but what about reliability, will the engine last 100,000 miles at these power levels assuming it is maintained?

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 2 lety +4

      Hi Michael, this particular car has now gone 20k miles with this kit installed at this power level. It averages between 19-21mpg mixed driving and is a riot when the loud pedal is kicked. Maintenance goes a LONG way with these set ups and the Coyote engine is a very capable platform all things considered. We've supercharged anything from brand new cars that still have the paper tags on them to 100k mile vehicles and seen great results as long as the engine was healthy in the first place. We've also seen stock cars give up the ghost from mechanical failure or manufacturing defect making no where near as much power as one of these set ups. A proper check up to your vehicle's mechanical health such as compression and leak down testing is imperative before doing any major modifications as well as frequent and consistent maintenance so that if you have a problem developing, you can catch it early and rectify it.

      We've done numerous s550s that live around this power for extended periods of time. It's important that proper maintenance is kept up and good quality 93 octane is used. This particular car is daily driven by our social media guy and nearly has 10k miles with the Odin kit and is at 50k total miles on the car with no issues.

      Hey Ron. OPGs and CS are something to consider based on the usage of your vehicle. With manual transmissions or vehicles that are driven hard very frequently, it's worth considering. On a basic street car, we've seen many cars do just fine without them.

      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 3 lety +1

      There's a few things to consider when selecting a rear gear for your vehicle. Power level, primary usage, driver's preferences etc. Most boosted stick (MT-82) Coyotes use a 3.31 to stay in 4th as they cross the traps in the 1/4 mile and avoid a 4-5 shift. This particular car came factory equipped with 3.31s and they happen to be exactly what it needs for it's mixed street/strip usage.

    What’s the difference vs the gen3r

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 4 lety +3

      The Gen3R is a blow down, rear feed style supercharger. It utilizes a 2.65l TVS rotor set and blows down through a single intercooler core. The Odin is a blow up, front feed supercharger utilizing the same 2.65l TVS rotor set. It blows up through twin intercooler cores. The Odin was originally designed for 18+ Mustangs to clear the direct injection rails and injectors that reside in the valley where the intercooler for a Gen3R would reside. We received an overwhelming response to the looks and performance of the Odin on 18+ cars and by request, began working on retrofitting it onto the earlier models.

      Well, that's a very valid observation! But, we're being specific to the Gen 2 Mustang GT. Kong's MONSTER GT350R is in a class all of it's own. Particularly with the level of effort put into not only building an incredible track car, but the efforts that went into building a traditional cross plane crank Voodoo in place of the flat plane and adapting everything within that car to operate it. Huge props to them and we're stoked to play a little part in that car's incredible build. This is the/our "first" Gen 2 S550 Coyote car and the car we test fit and adapted a kit for to produce the kit for the public. We're more so alluding to the fact that this bolt on "kit" has been completed and is now ready for purchase to the public.
