Rugrats: The Carmichaels Spinoff

- The Carmichaels would have been a Rugrats spin off focusing on Susie and her family moving away to a different city. The creators of the show allegedly made the decision to keep Susie in the regular Rugrats group instead.

I'd watch an adult cartoon of the Rugrats grown up with families of their own now.
if they ever do that they need to call it "All Grown up ... Again"
Imagine Chuckie in a Therapy Session saying:
Chuckie- Well it all started when my best friend, Tommy Pickles, decided to break us out of...
Therapist- You never mentioned being incarcerated, Mr.Finstet!
Chuckie- Incarcerated? No no, we just babies breaking out of our playpen to get cookies!
A show where they are the parents, yes!
That won't happen, the creators weren't happy with All Grown Up.
Ikr same
Susie was always my favorite Rugrat because she was so nice to the babies and it was a refreshing change from them being tortured by Angelica all the time.
Yeah, kind of like yin and Yang.
We as humans have gotten further from our original ideals and as a result, the younger generation is obsessed with vanity, self pleasure, and trying to find fulfillment in things that don't matter and are fleeting. If you want to find true fulfillment in this life, follow Jesus. Pray to God through Jesus, read the Bible, join a loving church, and give your whole life to him. Repent of the sin in your life. He can provide more fulfillment than anything else in this world ever could. Much love 💕
I like that the Carmichaels are the most successful family in the show
Except for Angelica's family
@@DDarkestKnightthey weren’t successful parents tho . Just superficially
@@bulletangel It said *successful* family. It said nothing about parenting
@@DDarkestKnightfinancial success isn't the only success so no they weren't more successful, they sucked at parenting and juggling work life.
@@DDarkestKnight family involves parenting
So it's like a Cleveland show but would've been really good
The Carmichaels could definitely carry their own show.
honestly i don’t like family guy i preferred the cleveland show. not as much as american dad tho
The Cleveland Show > (Modern) Family Guy
@@j.t.daluva2095 true. also old simpsons > they had clever jokes every second
@@j.t.daluva2095 Facts. But I like American dad than both imo.
Only gripe I had with American dad is I need more emotional episodes. There are heart warming ones, but I need more emotional like Simpsons.
I actually felt something when Stan said goodbye to Francine on the rapture episode. Or when Snot broke down when he realized how big of a deal it was when he lost his father. I need moments like that.
I LOVED that episode so much! All the Jell-O in the fridge was one of my favorite scenes, and I really liked her brothers and sister:)
Yessss, Susie was a brave leader and very fair. She was the best character. Any time i saw her in the show you knew it was gonna be good
I love the one where the power goes out and all the kids are being baby sat at the carmichaels house
@@PoDaBo She was such a great contrast to Angelica. When I finally watched 'Punky Brewster' almost twenty years ago, Cherie reminded me EXACTLY of her:):)
@@PoDaBo Oh, me too! Man, I haven't seen either of these episodes in FOREVER:):)
@@PoDaBo@PoDaBo this was BY FAR my favorite episode. I wanted that book describing different monsters SO BAD. I'd pay money to have a recreation of it as I imagined it to be as a kid. So cool!! 📖
It definitely would have been a good spin-off! 😢
I wanted to get to know her family better if they did have a Spin-off! I'm Angry!!!!
@@Mera2300 Me too! 😡😡😡
I think it would’ve been cool but I needed more episodes focused on their family. The Charmicheals were really interesting and entertaining.
You can watch the reboot, they actually made her a full time character.
Nice! But, did susie sort of had a spin off where she and angelica went to pre school together?
@@victoriam.8652 That was the very reason why The Carmichaels was scrapped. Except, it didn't work having only two of the characters.
@@SillyCreatureSally yeah, Rugrats is number 1!
I don't think I'd want that. Susie was needed to counter/humble Angelica.
Which is idiotic because Susie doesn't get to be her own character. She only gets to exist as Angelica's foil.
@@DDarkestKnightShe needs someone her own age to keep her on her toes.
@@DDarkestKnightThat wasnt her only use, it started as the center of her chemistry coming into the show, as it was needed to build the dynamic between herself and Angelica
As the show went on she solidified herself as her own character with her own personality, despite being the youngest toddler that isnt the babies, she is the most responsible, shes intelligent, and a mentor for the babies in multiple episodes.
@@DDarkestKnight
The family in general seemed like they were there to be the ideal family, like The Flanders to the Pickles’ Simpsons.
@@VGamingJunkieVT No they're the Cosby's
so that dummy bear episode dinner all makes sense now, that could've been the pilot for the spin off but they decided against it in the end by making suzie not move away,I never knew about the spin off that could've been when I was a kid,but all of a sudden that one episode makes sense
that gelatin scene had me asking my granny to make me jello when i was a kid lmao
I don't know what it is, but there's something about how this show drew jello that always looked so delicious.
Yes!!!
Omg wait I loved that jello episode
Thanks for telling us we were robbed
Well Cree Summer is still around im
Sure she wouldn't mind it.
Why not have a spin-off where Suzie gets to stay in the same place but she's the main focus?
It wouldn’t have brought in the ratings compared to the other show. They could have done more Suzie focused episodes though. Tested the waters.
Because then Rugrats wouldn't have their anti-Angelica and it would've probably angered alot of white parents
It worked for Loud House didn't it?
Susie and her family were some of my favorite characters on Rugrats and I always wished they had been featured more. That would have been a cool spinoff. I always loved the episode when Tommy stays with them and Susie's older sister is babysitting them and all the other siblings (and the friend who turns the power off).
As much as I would have loved to have seen a show focused on the Carmichaels, them moving away from the other Rugrats I think would've been a terrible idea. You can't separate Susie from the others! They need her to be the kind older influence against Angelica!
Dang what if. 😢
So like a G rated “The Cleveland Show”?
That's what I was thinking lol
that sounds awful
They probably said it was a good idea to make the Cleveland show and here we are today. 😂
I wish we could see her and her friendships with Angelica. 😢How they became friends.
Then Nick would basically use that premises for the Casagrandes 😂go fig
I NEEDED to have an animated show that centered around a black family in the early 2000s since I was too young for the shows in the 90s
There were some. Static Shock and Proud Family are ones I can think of right away.
@@Bartholomule01 Static was pretty good, but Proud Family was downright lousy.
little bill
You must not been looking too far THERE SO MANY BLACK SHOWS IN 90'S AND 2000'S
Oh you NEEDED to?
So casagrande (the Lincoln loud spin off)
There was a Loud House spinoff?
@@Hyper_Drud
Yep, "The Casagrandes".
I would’ve loved to see this spin off! I loved Susie so much!
i've never wanted jello more in my life
One of my favorite episodes is when they all spend the night at Susie’s and the older brother tries to scare everyone the whole night.
So much potential just like the pataki spinoff.
The Kwanzaa special was a stealth pilot.
Maybe but honestly better they all kept them together
Bad news: we got the Cleveland Show.
Good news: we got the Cassagrandes.
That show is so bad.
Bad news: We lost The Cleveland Show
Worse news: We got the Cassagrandes
The jello molds from that episode always looked soo good
What a shame! That would have been a great show!
Glad Suzie was in rugrats pre-school daze, though 4 eps with Angelica.
I think Cynthia needed her own show! That doll was ICONIC and never said one word 😂😂😂
Basically what Nickelodeon did with The Loud House with "The Casagrandes."
It also likely never went into production because Cree Summer was barely around to voice Susie in the main series to begin with, due to her busy schedule. Susie was rarely seen and only existed to be Angelica’s foil. In some episodes E.G. Daily had to voice Susie.
I remember hearing about that show in school & the 90's.
This episode did definitely feel like one of those test episodes for a spinoff in hindsight
This honestly explains why I felt like Susie wasn’t in very many episodes around the time the movies came out. It’s like they were preparing for her departure from Rugrats by having episodes already produced where she’s completely unseen/unmentioned.
I feel mixed on the spinoff, it would’ve been sad for her to leave the group because she already showed up way too little in the show despite her and her family being super intriguing. But on the other hand, her infrequent appearances and dialogue where she kinda started sounding like she was becoming more separate from the babies just made me realize that she may have ALWAYS been destined to have a spinoff, and her getting one would’ve explained all of that. And… if there WAS a spinoff, the original Rugrats characters could easily show up for one thing, so Susie’s departure wouldn’t be sad, and there’s potential for new characters and a new setting which is honestly awesome to include in this universe.
Well it's not the Cleveland show since this came out before then also I remember the show was going to take place in Chicago
I love the carmichaels episode of rugrats
Bro I’m so old 28, and my kids watch CZcams not tv, it’s a shame they will never get too the good old days
Man I used to love Rugrats especially when they went to Las Vegas I used to imagine as a kid that I wanna go do all the things they were doing😂😂
Damn. Another universe is enjoying the spin off right now.
Would rather gotten a spin-off of this than a Rugrats reboot.
I kinda agree, Suzie was my favorite character cuz she was a total counter to Angelica.
0:10 So pretty much it would have been the Cleveland show before the Cleveland show.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of the Cleveland show
That could’ve been cool
I woulda loved it but I loved Susie being a rugrat even more
It would literally be the kid version of when "All My Family" had the spinoff known as "The Jeffersons" back in the 70s 😊
It really could have been another black cartoon classic that a lot of us could have been nostalgic about!
Dude I used to adore Susie and her dope hair flowers as a kid.
This might be a too hot take for CZcams, but it probably got shelved because Nickelodeon stopped being quite as black when the 00s rolled around.
Considering what happened to One on One, Girlfriends, Half & Half and few others I see why it didn't happen and it might never happen
Such wholesome content.
So this was basically going to be the original Cleveland Show...
I loveeee Susie growing up, she’s always just amazing!
American wasn’t ready, it would have been another Cleveland Show and the Execs knew it
"My name is Cleveland Brown"
I can only imagine how many different shows, television, mediums, games among other media franchises and such that didn't make it through. So much not known about.
I could see Susie and her family having their own show
There’s nothing of its existence because this was never going to be a thing
Damn. They were gonna pull a Cleveland Show before the Cleveland Show was even a thing
I miss shows like this.
They should it would have been kool. I love seeing black characters. Suie was my favorite
#DisneyDiva ❤
I feel like it would’ve been like a cartoon Cosby show
I prefer the concept of their growing up together, just like a big group ❤
The one thing I notice is Tito saves ray and then saves himself. Get it for episode writing but just notice as the native character does saving and then can save himself no help needed but know it isn’t the defining writing for that character
It's a shame because the family looks very dynamic across every member, they all have very unique personalities. 😢
Mmm idk side character related shows never fair well like Joey from friends, Patrick show, Cleveland show, raven's home. They definitely made the right call
I see this as Nick's counterpart of the Cleveland Show
Kinda glad Susie didn't get separated from the group
Man, I loved susie growin up. She was such a good character and I always loved the episodes she was in.
I love Dr lucy carmichels rugrats
I wonder how the rugrats dynamics would have changed with Susie gone...
Honestly, I don't think this would have worked. I like the characters but I think they are meant to be the foil to the Pickles. They're almost too perfect to carry a show.
This is the first time I've even seen her parents. All Grown Up is a worthy spin off tho.
Mrs. Carmichael made some cool Jello!
Would have loved this spinoff! So sad it was never made
It’s also like the spinoff of hey Arnold the patakis that never happened
I would’ve loved this
In another universe, the show made it into production.
I'm glad they didn't do the spin off. Susie's family seems too cosby-like as a family, which think is dull.
I loved Susie!!!! I loved the episode where Tommie got to spend the night at her house with her brothers.
They crazily underutilized the Carmichaels in the Rugrats
Ah man, I would have loved to see this NGL. Kid me would have loved to see Susie have her own family adventures cause I did like Susie as a kid
I dont know if I would have liked that...Susie was like a hero that stopped Angela from getting of way. It was always interesting to watch those girls beef and be friends again
Taking Susie out of the rugrats main group would have been a bad call imo. Glad they didn’t follow through with this one. She was a fan favorite on introduction and served as a great foil to Angelica
I still won't forgive them for denying us a good show like Constant Payne
This would have been so cool, but All grown up is awesome too!😅
So basically the cleaveland show of the rugrats.
Honestly? I think it was better this way. I think that the rugrats wouldn't be the same without Suzie to balance out Angelica. She was always one of my favorite characters since she usually served Angelica her comeuppance.
Lmao the Cleveland show
Brown girl magic was still a dream in the 90's
At this point the rug rats should have their own kids. I wanna see that show
They did it later on called The Cleveland Show
I'm glad they didn't do this because I fear it would have gone the route of 'the Cleveland Show', another show that had no business existing because it was a horrible depiction of a Black family through a white gaze (seeing as the writers would have been Jewish for this show as well).
It would be interesting to see if the spin-off had surreal dream sequences.
I think small nods to the spinoff were certain episodes like the Kwanzaa and Gospel episodes that were centered around Susie
