Mario kart ds was insane. I had a friend at my boys and girls club who’s top screen had too many dead pixels to operate properly. So he used the map on the bottom to race and would actually do really good.

honestly, aalthough I missed mission mode from DS, the main issue I had with 7 was the lack of VS mode. In pretty much every other Mario Kart, VS allowed you to play any track you wanted without being locked to the cups. 7 only had the grand prix, and that killed it for me.
Thankfully ctgp fixes that and gives you more content. Its like the DLC we never got

I think it actually detracts from the game because now the karts are a lot more generic to fit multiple characters. Before each kart was custom made for the character and fit them perfectly.

One of the reasons that I love MKWii so much is just because of how every unlockable character has something to do. It made unlocking the most difficult characters awesome and brought so much to Mario kart. It wasn’t just to race and come first, the single player was actually tons of fun just because of the unlockables. But yea MKWii is the best and I just really like Mario kart

It sucks very badly starting out MK8 Deluxe with nothing to strive toward or unlock. Every character accessible from the start. I mean Karts you have to unlock but once you unlock Mr Scooty and Biddy Buggy with the red and blue wheels, there is literally nothing else to unlock that is substantial which is extremely unfortunate.

Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart Arcade GP DX, Mario Kart Arcade VR, Mario Kart Tour all look better (well, maybe not Mario Kart Wii, I guess). Mario Kart Double Dash, Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 might also look better depending on who you ask.

The glitch was able to skip straight to the mountain section before you enter the cave area you jump into the purple water area in the right side. (Note this still works only got patch in the Online side of the game.

@@sirspookybones1118 at the very beggining of the map if you jump off the road into the wter it sent you straight to the end of the race. This was a drag race course instead of a lap based one, so it made the race last only a minute. I'm sure you can look it up on CZcams. Just put in Wuhu exploit or glitch.

7 was basically my first Mario Kart. (Think my first one might have been 64 at a McDonald's, but the game was kinda broken and I played it for like 2 seconds). I don't know if 7 is my favorite Mario Kart but it's pretty close.

Just a head's up for those who don't know, Scott has a second channel called Scott's Stash. It's pretty rad.
7 has probably one of my favorite standard kart designs in the series (DS, Wii, and pipe frames being my other favorites). There's just something about how sharp and angular they look combined with the metal rims that appeals to me. Mario Kart 8's standard kart is fine and all, but its smoothness and how round it is just doesn't give me the same kind of appeal, which is probably why I prefer using the pipe frame instead.
7 had the best track selection in the series you can’t say otherwise and tracks are the most important part of mario kart

@@jodjodjodjodjod Not only do I just have a personal attachment to it, but it has my favorite balance with the item randomness, it's not too chaotic and unfair like Wii, but not too easy like 8 and especially 8 Deluxe. It feels like it encourages just the right amount of skill while still being super fun, which the other games I mentioned definitely are. It was the first game in the series I played as a dumb kid who was bad at video games where I actually felt myself getting better at it instead of dealing with the insanity of Mario Kart Wii. Not only all that, but I just adore the track lineup. The selection of retro tracks is fantastic, it has the best Rainbow Road in the history of the series, and the Wuhu tracks are fantastic. The ones Scott referred to as lame or forgettable I personally found to be at least pretty good. Sorry for the drawn-out explanation, but I just love this game, though I do understand Scott's issues with it, they just don't bother me and in some cases aren't even problems to me at all.

I got this game christmas day 2011, I grew up playing it and I absolutely adore it
Seeing as this was my first mario kart, i have nostalgic memories of this game. Playing it with my Step Sis, Being trash at 150cc and never playing 50 or 100cc, thinking time trials were just fun instead of what i do now and go for world records now. All in all, i just had some fun with this game.

Mario Kart has an issue, and it's getting worse in later releases. They focus too much on attacking items, and remove items that moves you forward. This means that the pack from 12-3 will constantly attack each other, while 1 and 2 will drive away in the lead, until a spiny (blue) shell comes. - The game needs more option for the pack to boost forward, and catch up to the ones in lead. MK8 did add Piranha Plant that does give you small bosts, but with fire balls, boomerand and more attacking items, you're just slowing down the pack. Add back the giant mushroom, chain chop, lightning cloud; things that do attack, but also moves you forward. Take the teleportation from Lego Racers and give it to players furthest back; the further back you are, the farther you move forward. It helps bad players a lot since they don't need to navigate the track. In 12th position, it can move you forward an infinite amount until you're behind the 11th player.
The introduction of coins has made the balance even worse. As players 12-3 constantly attack each other, they constantly lose coins. Players 1 and 2 don't really get attacked, so they manage to get 10 coins, plus that they get coins from item boxes. Players 1 and 2 also gets to the coins first, they might respawn for player 3, but the further back you are, the harder it is to pick these coins up.

I remember meeting someone with a 3DS and playing MK7 for the first time ever. It was magical to me since I was only used to blocky ass DS games at that point.
The same thing happened when I tried 3D land for the first time. Ended up getting a 3DS with these games about a year into it's life.

I actually think Mario Kart 7 is the most balanced and fun to play out of all of them.
Super Mario Kart, MK64 and Super Circuit all great for their time but hard to go back to, Double Dash was good but I didn't like the team racing gimmick, MKDS was solid no complaints other than a bit ugly at times, MK Wii was fun but motion controls were terrible and seemed too dumbed down for casuals, MK8 was really good but it's 10 years old now and has been milked to death, also (this will sound nitpicky and it's more to do with Mario games in general) the detailed environments and realistic lighting/ water effects and HD graphics paired with the simplistic character designs looks weird.. uncanny valley stuff. It looks nice don't get me wrong no disrespect to the devs but gaming is a form of escapism and the more realistic they get the less immersed I am.
So Mario Kart 7 is my favorite, fun tracks well balanced, looks great but still looks video gamey. Paragliding and underwater sections were innovative enough without taking away what makes the games fun. My only gripe is NO WALUIGI! Vs mode would be nice too but hey.
