    Bought this last week. what is there to say. For $1000 you are getting mucho power in a strong reliable build.
    The good: It's a beast of a scooter. It feels solid. The tires are bullet proof, no worries what you run over it's not going flat. It accelerates hard and pulls you up steep hills effortlessly. Nice big deck. Dual disc brakes. Bright light without the cheezy circus LED lighting. Looks like the bat mobile. Lomng range especially on eco mode. Eco mode is like power mode for most scooter. You don't really need to engage power mode unless you want to go over 21 mph. Fun dual suspension. People diss the turning wheel folding mechanism but I like it. The handle bars are solid and collapse with ease. The stem is very solid.Don't worry about the brake lines tht run outside the stem, they are fine. It comes with a key. Easy to find replacement parts because it's so popular. Holds its value if you want to sell trade in
    The bad: The tires are solid so you feel everything on the road. It's not as good at turning as the narrower tires because of the wide wheels. Consider this the long board of surf boards. It's for cruising not performing acrobatic tricks. The throttle response is not too smooth. You have to baby it if you want to speed up without throwing your head back.

    OmG!! Ive been waiting for you guys to do this video-like seriously!! Yay!! I would love to see a channel incorporate a more adventurous mission where we could see you guys deal w/ some surprises and unexpected variations out and about - everyone scooter channel is doing the ride in various park areas and moment of gravel slo-mo - not complaining -just saying that’s standard on every scooter channel these days -i think alot of scooter buyers/fans would appreciate footage and commentary accompanying actual footage showing situations that surprised or challenged you (like in real life) or maybe a more advanced test area w/ slick conditions and super aggressive bumps so we could see scooters perform under pressure- just sayin- i def loved the actual MercWW clip they put up where the owner takes it on a real excursion

    Thanks a lot for this great video. Very helpful descriptions and tips, esp. about adjusting the breaks. I've just received a 2020 WW Pro and took it out for a ride - it's awesome! The turning takes some getting used to, but I guess it's a matter of practice. The throttle is very challenging to control as many have said. I don't mind taking off ridiculously fast, but that should require pushing the throttle to the max, not 1/4 of the way. Otherwise it's a fantastic product.

    Great review. Proud owner of the 2020 Pro here. I do have to agree on basically all you said on the review. I funnily enough also have a loose'ish left handle. One thing I have noticed is that I've gotten a couple of bald spots on the front tire that looks like the rubber has prematurely broken down exposing a little of the inner core. A little worried about it but will keep monitoring it. I should note I didn't do any burnouts on it and rode it unlocked on ECO on my commute. Great work ESG. Subscribed! EDIT: Also for new owners, make sure your wheel diameter is set correctly out of box. Mine was set wrong and was giving me incorrect distance and speed readings. Easy to do in the settings menu... set it to "8". Cheers.

Now they’re rock solid again and all I had to do was tighten up the 4 little bolts on the front and back of each bar. All scooters and bikes need their bolts tightening up after a few rides and the WideWheel is no exception. Thanks Chuck for the great review by the way.

    THis scooter is very fun to ride! I just came across one while I was out on my Segway GT1. we traded for a bit and yeah, the dual motors give really great acceleration. I saw how foldable it was, and the wide wheels do help a lot to boost the comfort from the suspension.. I'd say for the price it is a really solid scoot!

  • @hensiepensie
    @hensiepensie Před 4 lety +2

    about the wobble in the steer, there are 4 screws in the steer (per side) (close to the brakes and folding mechanism) that gets a bit loose after riding, if you tighten these the wobble in the steer will be gone for a while (untill your rode enough to vibrate them a bit loose again :) )

      i think u r making a good decision; just bc u can go fast, doesnt mean u have to. i own two 19mph scooters, segway ES4 and hiboy s2, but hardly satisfied due to the speed, and this isnt due to greed. i am looking at zero 8x and ww pro, but leaning more towards the zero 8x due to the 30+mph speed, which is my safety limit. the only concern is whether i can get maintenance locally without shipping it somewhere

    Great review. I owned the 2019 model and used it as my daily commute before it was stolen. A few comments on the 2019 dual motor model (and I confirmed that these are the same on the 2020 with fluidfreeride) - 1) the mudguard is absolutely useless and people use DIY solutions to enlarge it. I heard mercane is coming out a new accessory (but same was the case last year); 2) the battery flap didn't fully securely close. My solution was to put duct/electrical tape over it to keep rain out. Surprisingly, haven't had any issues; 3) You NEED loctite; 3 hex bolts jostled out - one from undercarriage, 1 from handle bar attach pt, and 1 from the brake assembly causing rubbing; 4) premature brake wear - braking from riding in power mode (@ 220 weight liit) as a daily commute wore the brake pads down very fast. We're talking about changing the pads once every 2 weeks. Probably less of an issue with dual brakes but there is more maintenance than stated in the video; 5) power on button. Whenever it was exposed to the sun where the assembly felt warm, it was be impossible to turn on the scooter until the rubber cooled off; 6) I didn't lower the stem going up/downstairs but tied a short nylon rope on the back of the platform. It would be great if there's more of a handle b/c it honestly is a bit of a hassle to turn the knob to drop the stem...
    On the plus side, I rode in under ALL conditions without any real problems. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the weight was never a problem. Accelerated like a beast. And fluidfreeride was excellent.
    Next scooter for me is probably something direct from china. Although support will be near non-existent, the pricing to performance ratio is at least 2x anything offered by a US distributor.

    This is my third scooter. I had an earlier model widewheel before this one.
    Pro’s:
    I can lift it in and out of my car for last mile commuting. It’s definitely heavier but still manageable and fits in my i30.
    What I like about it is it has great speed, acceleration and is quite stable.
    It doesn’t get the constant flat tyres! My first scooter just had flat tyre after flat tyre. My roads just must be packed with dropped screws and bolts etc.
    It can go up and down hills with great acceleration and the brakes are very good at least in the dry.
    The cons:
    It is heavy and for a 64yr old woman, it is on the edge of what I can lift in and out of my carboot.
    There is a significant delay when starting out. You kick, press accelerator and then wait for the acceleration to cut in.
    The accelerator is overly touchy. I would prefer if it had some slack in the system so every bump didn’t also become a lurch.
    That short rear bumper that lets water etc flick up onto the back of your legs, that’s just FN annoying. I am looking at getting a piece of truck skirt to fit in there and stop that.

    I have bought 4 wide wheel pros at different times in the last year for my grandkids thinking they were all the new models. They look basically the same and have similar performance. BUT, some have red brakes calipers others don't. Some have CLE after the word PRO on the stem and platform, some don't. What is the difference? It is so frustrating, I have sent emails to both Mercane and Fluidride with no real answers. I need to buy 4 more and as kids often do, they ask questions about thing they get like "why does his have red brakes" or "why does his have CLE" mine does not? Hey Chuck. I was wondering I’m looking at the Mercane widewheel pro or the Apollo Explore. Which one do you recommend 👍 looking for joyriding plus I want a little speed and good suspension. Thank you

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  Před 4 lety +3

      If you're looking for speed, the Apollo explore has a higher top speed, clocking in at 29mph and WWpro at 26mph, however, the WWpro's acceleration is a bit quicker 0-15 mph in 3.2 seconds, where the Explore is at 3.5 seconds. As far as suspension, the Explore has good spring suspension in the front and back making a comfortable ride on rough roads. The WWpro also has spring suspension, however its stiff and can make rides on poor roads a bit harsh. The wide wheels do help a bit making it harder for the wheels to get stuck in cracks and less risk of falling.
      If you want to go further into depth on performance specs definitely check out our performance database: electric-scooter.guide/comparisons/electric-scooter-performance-tests/

      Turning is very very different on the WideWheel versus any other scooter out there (besides the Zero 8X and TurboWheel Hornet). You really have to feel it to know how different it is. You need to lean into turns more and you cannot carve like on other more nimble scooters.

  • @I_Dont_Care49
    @I_Dont_Care49 Před rokem

    I had mercane widewheel pro 2020 model for over a year now so from out the box it's all good but then it's the brakes I will replace the brakes with hydraulic brakes because I keep tightening my brakes and I'd say mine as of now is not safe in an emergency as the only back brake works decently well but keeps getting loose and I got so much headlock but it doesn't bother me but it's the most headlock scooter I rode that includes the manual ones the plastic little kiddie scooters and other electric scooters I have never seen this much headlock on a scooter.
    One major issue is the mud guards when it's all wet outside so I'm here doing 10 mph because the mud guards aren't good as I get dirt all over my back and pants in good dry conditions it's all right it's just the rainy conditions.

    I have the Zero 9 doing 42kmh with 45km range on 62kg of weight. Why I need Is a better suspension that absorbs better the holes than than the Zero 9 and maybe a little bit better acceleration, better build quality as well. Electric Scooter Guide Hi Chuck, I just purchased two (2) WideWheel Pros from fluidfreeride.com using your coupon code (thank you!) After looking at dozens of different makes and models, I believe for the price the WideWheel Pro is the perfect blend of features, style and performance. They are now in transit and can't wait to receive them!
    I have a question about the throttle. The factory throttle has a short travel distance and is said to be quite sensitive. fluidfreeride.com offers an alternate throttle that's suppose to make acceleration smoother and more gradual. I'm wondering if you have tried the alternate throttle and if so, what is your opinion of it?

    I disagree. This is a very relaxing ride on a smooth dry road only. It's certainly not overpowered! Personally i have a lot of grass & gravel & for me its underpowered at 1000 watts. A 5000 watt Dualtron isn't for kids. I'd say anything from 2000 - 5000 watt may not be relaxing. Due to the intense launch if you aren't super careful with the trigger.
    This widewheel doesn't do that (as long as you are on it!). Its is a very chilled ride.

      I have not ridden many myself but have seen a few videos etc. And if the roads you are going to ride are good without to much bumps and so on the widewheel should be good and also really fun. If however you got more bumps and possible tight corners to take during your ride, the 8X is probly a better choice for your usage.

    Anyone experience an insanely low duration of brake pads, especially on the front brake, with the Widewheel Pro 2020 ?

      @@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I am asking because despite doing a lot of coasting. (ie. releasing the throttle 10-30 meters ahead to naturally slow down, instead of braking late), as we do on a Tesla Model S to maximize its range.
      I find the Widewheel Pro's official brake pads to have a *ridiculously short duration*.
      A set will barely last 100kms and require constant tightening with a minuscule Allen key every 20km, so much so that I carry it in my pocket.
      Not cool at all. 😥
