The direction of this movie was brilliant. It is made certain that the audience sees Rosemary remove the decorative pick from her cup of mousse, as that was the sign given to Guy that this was the cup with the knockout drug in it.
This scene could've taught us not to take any food that has been tampered with, and Rosemary did notice the chalky texture on her chocolate mousse. Same thing with drinks that have anything someone has spiked them with.
I don't recall the exact words, but years ago I saw Oprah Winfrey on TV and she talked about how her father had taught her to always be able to see your food and drink when you're with someone else; when you're not looking, something can be done.
@andrewbrendan1579 Also, let's not forget nowadays that even if you went partying in a bar or nightclub, always carry your drink with you and not leave it on the table.
I love this movie too. For those born more recently, it must come as a surprise-- the record needed to be turned over. I was 11 when this movie came out and living in Brooklyn.
My husband and I watched this movie a while back and he complained on hating the guy that Rosemary was with for so many reasons in this movie. And I see why. 😅
I made chocolate mousse for my domestic science exam at school. That had a chalky under-taste. However the only unholy thing was my dad's two weeks of the shites.
There was some kind of rent control situation that kept rent below where it could have been and Guy was getting money from commercials he had been in. It's been years since I read the book, but my recollection is that Guy and Rosemary were close to if not actually living beyond their means.
Also, how did she acquire so many hip "downtown" friends (the party scene later) if she didn't really do anything? They seem to be her friends more so than Guy's, but what would they have in common with her?
@@brownroach8618 Good observation! There were some interesting people at the party. In the book it's mentioned that Rosemary had worked for C.B.S. and she might have become acquainted with people in show business and the arts. Too she had shared an apartment with some other young women and could have met people through her roommates. Still we don't have much information about Rosemary's New York life pre-Guy.
@andrewbrendan1579 - it makes sense that it would be something like that. You're right, the movie gives us almost no info about her. How did she and Guy meet, for instance? We don't know.
@@Onmysheethe wanted her to have the horrible tasting one, that's not nice. I would share the nice one. Why would you make one nice and when horrible?
He is without doubt the most dispiccable man in the history of cinema
Es ok
Biggest two-faced sack of shit

Worst on screen husband BAR! NONE!
And from this moment Rosemary was doomed....
Damn the gaslighting on his end
I hate Guy so much
Subtle yet effective. like his best acting performance. I mean as in the movie he's an actor. But this takes the cake.
He gaslights her throughout the novel.

1:30 Guy SLAMS spoon down and stomps away from the table
What a man
They didn't count on her not eating the whole thing
That mousse did look good tho

I read that she cut it short during production.
The most Godless part of this film was the fact that her husband didn’t get brutally murdered.

How were they able to live in that massive luxurious apartment if he was a struggling actor and she was a homemaker?

They copied this from the HOward Johnson's scene in Mad Men...
Rosemary is very smart❤
Never eat the food never ever eat the food !!
He could have tasted the mousse to check if she was right or not?
His mousse didn't have whatever hers had. He knew she was right as he just wanted her to eat it.
