  • This will be the first built VQ37VHR that i'll document. I'll toss in every bit of information so that maybe more people will feel a bit less intimidated by building these themselves. This will be released in multiple parts since there's a lot to cover, so please sub to stick around to see the rest! Time for another VQ owner to go fast!
Part 11, we will dive into the heart of the motor and remove pistons and look at cylinder wall condition. The next and last disassembly video will be girdle and crankshaft related. Some tips and tricks will be thrown in along the way.

I definitely will. This supply chain issue is keeping me from getting parts quickly. Everything is in now and it's ready for assembly the next couple days I have off.

so it is possible to pull the oil pump without pulling upper pan?

I only need to take off the upper oil pan and baffle so I can inspect the pistons/rods/bearings. Do I really need to remove them to inspect them?
Wouldn't I be able to tell if a piston was bent? My head gasket blew and I don't want to just replace the head gasket if there are other issues.
I wonder if it's worth buying forged pistons and rods!? - SOHO A2A kit for the street--- about 550-600 WHP is what I was... and will be running.

I have a question I just did a swap and when I was under the car I saw a hole just above where the starter goes , I can see inside of it but don't remeber pulling anything from there it's in this video..almost a triangle of 2 bolts and a round casting mark ..perfect hole look like something with an o ring would go but its where the starter body would block just an odd place for a random hole..any idea what goes there?? I'd hate to loose oil through there lol...

Was the red text comment stating that you can pull the oil pump without pulling the upper oil pan?

No, just pointing out which bolts I was removing.

@Crysix you absolutely can pull the pump without pulling the upper pan, it's just easier to do with it out of the way.
