What Happened To The Members Of ABBA?

  • Though you might not know it today, ABBA was once unbelievably popular pretty much the whole world over. The group gained exposure overnight in a European songwriting competition, and their undeniably catchy and sparkling sound earned them legions of fans wherever their music was played. Before long, one member of ABBA even married into royalty, so esteemed was their work in the world of music. But then the broke up, and were famously stingy about appearing or performing together in the years to follow. ABBA vowed that they'd never rejoin forces, but that turned out (very recently) not to be the case. Here's what happened to the members of ABBA.

@@bronwyn.mp3 Oh overjoyed! I missed them the first time round. I didn't get into music very early and by then they were not popular although I've always loved their songs. The new songs manage to convey a grown up Abba while maintaining the lovely melodies and lyrics and sheer catchiness that they had. Pure skill IMO. I'm also immensely grateful that they've chosen to do this in London, I mean wow, when we're basically having all manner of nastiness aimed at us for various things, it's like 'someone still likes us, omg thank you' I think too that it's given the fans a bit of light in what has been an awful couple of years and uncertainty still ahead. Something to look forward to with the Live show, I'ma bit sad but understanding that they're doing it via 'Abbatars' but if it means we get more music and a show... Absolutely, and it's also exciting because this is a new format of Show, and I love that they're the trailblazers for it. For the band I hope the pressures they felt before do not reemerge as the world once more goes into Abbamania. I would like to think that this time they can enjoy it with us and not feel pressured.

So weird... I was just listening to them this morning! I get mocked by everyone around me for listening to them (except my mom, she loves them.) Not only because it's ABBA. But also because of the fact I mainly listen to punk. I guess the music gods get angry if I listen to Chiquitita right after the Ramones. Guilty pleasure? I feel no guilt about it.

@@juliemarsden1858 Waterloo peaked at number 1 in 1974 before Mamma Mia and Fernando also peaked at number 1. England was the epicentre for Pop Music at the time, and when Voulez Vous and Angleyes released it became the newest sensation. Australia may have been obsessed with ABBA but England is what launched them. There was no Internet and being quite isolated meant that ABBA couldn't of relied on there success there. The UK however was at the centre of the western world.
