Plot twist....NOT THE LAST VIDEO
I think it is the last video....we have new ABBA music now.....but probably not a new real musicvideo....
Considering that you wrote this 20 hours ago, I will state that you are not some teller of futures from ages past but merely someone who has read endless numbers of current media announcements! If you had said this in 2001 I may have considered you some kind of prophet of the future!
I knew about it 6 months ago!
Who woulda thought??! So glad they're back!
@@markus30musik not really, this is old ABBA music with puppets, the newer one is much closer to a new video.
August, 27th 2021: This is no longer the "Last" video! The story continues. Finally!
FR
Yeah!
Whoooo 💗
Finally!!!
Greetings from Russia!
Thank God 🙏🏻
in my opinion, ABBA is one of the wonders of the world
Of course. They are.
Indeed!
Abba is one of the bands of all time.
I think, but am not sure, but ABBA, means Father.
Indeed
As a die-hard metalhead...I gotta say...
My mother LOVED ABBA, she would play their records whenever she cleaned the house. I remember watching my mother dance to their music while she was cleaning, and seeing her so content and happy brought me so much joy. I would clap as she danced to the catchy tunes coming from ABBA, and as long as my mother was happy, it brought me joy. I still think of her whenever I hear an ABBA song. "Waterloo" was her favorite song. I miss her so much. R.I.P., momma

Царство небесное
hugs buddy
I fondly remember my mom singing and dancing to Abba while cleaning the house too. I’d asked for the records for Christmas back in 1979 or 80. Thanks to the magic of Abba both of my parents enjoyed them so I got to listen to them much more than I normally would have. Your mom is still with you, knows what’s going on in your life. Ask her to send you signs that she’s still there, even to play Abba for you. There are lots of great documentaries, books and podcasts out there that talk about the signs our loved ones send us from the other side. I’m not religious at all but after losing some dear ones myself I’ve immersed myself in the topic for years.
Enjoy those memories! 😊
My goodness, you caught me off-guard. Thank you for sharing
My mum did the same with Fernando
Why has this suddenly popped up as a suggestion 5 years after it was released? 🤷🏻♂️

@DJ Porter , How very dictator-esque of you, Colonel Klink lol.
Rather late than never
@@KiltedCrumpet You know, his comment IS funny when you think or say it in the Colonel Klink voice! 😁
Say to say, there are probably more people under 30 now who saw Colonel Klink on that episode of The Simpsons. I doubt very many people under 20 now have actually SEEN an episode of Hogan's Heroes!
A lot of the old TV shows that used to be syndicated nationally and shown on local cable channels (before EVERY channel became part of a network conglomerate) are restricted to speciality cable channels you have to pay extra for (like MeTV).
Maybe Hogan's Heroes is on Hulu? I dunno... I haven't seen it in years, either, and saw it as a kid (under 11) when most of the humor flew over my head!
@@AvengerII, I know right, I could hear/see Klink as I read it. And it wasn't personal, just funny. There were so many great shows back then. Loved Carol Burnett, Odd Couple, and old SNL. Everybody had a laugh back then. Today they choose triggering over giggling 😜
There are two type of people:
-People who love Abba
-People who love Abba but dont admit it
I wish people wouldn't think of Abba as guilty pleasure music because they're so fucking gooooooooooood. 😭
You can't believe the grief i took as a Metal Head during the 80's,,, long hair, smoking that ol green, lightning bolt ear ring and anddd, " turn that up thats ABBA""........lol......they all liked em, just wouldn't admit it......went to knock on a bunch of buds doors at various times, ABBA BLARING,, Them singing along,, finally get them to answer the door,." Ah hell, old lady got that shit going",,, " yea right dude, so what was that I was watching you sing along to thru the window there?""" Lol......
I won’t admit it but yes
You Right, Me love Abba but don't admit it
Love ABBA hate the video
I don’t care how many times I watch this, I never get sick of it!!!
So True grew up in the late 70s early. 80s I listened to them every chance I get. In 2023. Agree never get tired of this video or their Music
I have never been a fan of theirs, but I have to say their harmonies are really tight.

ABBA. They did everything themselves. Wrote. Arranged/Mixed. Produced. Owned publishing. Owned label. Owned studio. Own entire catalogue. Today they still own and control it all. Intelligent group.
And Bjorn is a genius. I like what Gene Simmons said in the VH1 Behind the Music episode about ABBA; to paraphrase as best as I remember, when describing ABBA, Gene said, 'It was really well crafted pop music. If you don't understand that, you just don't get it.' Like I said, I'm paraphrasing from a show I saw in the early or mid-nineties, when VH1 was a thing. I thought it was exceptionally high praise, especially coming from Gene Simmons. Good musicians appreciate all genres of music.
No, they were just born privileged and entitled, like all Swedish, Norwegian and Dutch kids who have ever wanted to get into music production. If you've got the money for all the right gear you can do pretty much anything you want.
@@MariusLaru The international music scene was dictated and administered by two major countries:
Britain & America. The British and American music industry ignored and rejected ABBA. This video kinda tells that story, along with the importance of their music videos. ABBA TV before MTV.
Groups from America, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa dominated the pop/rock international music scene - all english speaking nation's.
Countries, like Sweden, who's native language was not english were ignored. The thinking was, "how could non-native english language speakers write songs/melodies for english lyrics" ...... ABBA was rejected by the music industry. Nobody would publish their music. It was thrown away.
Enter ABBA's plan. They figured out a way to get heard. First by entering Eurovision ('Waterloo' 1974) and also by sending low budget music clips to TV program directors around the world. The program directors liked them -- so they put them on TV. Boom!!! The people around the world loved ABBA. Radio stations then played their records. They managed to get heard by doing an "end around" the American and British controlled international music industry.
ABBA is credited to busting up the American /British control. ABBA were the rebels in the music industry. It opened up doors for other non native english speaking nation's.
ABBA were the ultimate indie band. They wrote the music they wanted to write. They did everything themselves. They released records on their timetable VS giant corporate label dictates.
Today, everybody has a high respect for not only their high level of musicality, musicianship and professionalism, but because they never sold out to corporations.
Benny Andersson said ABBA's music will never be used to sell a service or product. He said ABBA legacy business gets calls everyday for request to sample, use a song in commercial, etc..... He said the answer is always no.
ABBA's thinking is if your music is heard all over, like in TV commercials, etc..... selling cars, computers, services... then the music gets diluted and is cheapened.
They are the most intelligentlly run major international musical groups I know. One of the smartest things they did was going out on the top of their game. They were all still young, energetic, etc..... That image will always be intact.
Smart!!!!!

It's kind of hilarious that both Abba and Bee Gees were considered as "lightweight" bands in the 70's and 80's, but 40 years later, they are sheer epics.
Bee Gees were NEVER considered lightweight. Saturday night fever is one of the biggest grossing movies of all time. You need to check your sources
@Yoo-Hyun Kim Abba was never light weight. Some considered them a bit controversial because they were a bit too sexy. Bee Gees were as mainstream as music could be when they were at their peak.
Maybe their TUNES were considered lightweight? Like, poppy and easygoing. That's not the same as the ARTIST being inferior though :)
Am I the only one who remembers seeing this in theaters before some movie?

The people who love the video, understand the context. They know ABBA's history. The entire industry were jealous of ABBA because they were a self contained indie band the made it big and never sold out to the corporate music puppeteers.
Or they just loved the uplifting music even with their deep songs as both made you feel good.
@@Dermacrosis Indeed. But how many ABBA music lovers know the history and the battles they had with the music industry puppeteers. Too include DJ's who would not play their records....
There is a reason B&B wrote their mini-musical (77) -- 'The Girl With The Golden Hair' :
1. Thank You For The Music
2. I, Wonder (Departure)
3. I'm A Marionette
4. Get On The Carousel (Live only - no studio)
Listen to them in this order.
It was ABBA's message/warning to artist not to sign away their artistic creativity to the industry puppeteers (record labels, etc....) and also, their polite "middle finger" to the industry puppeteers.
The fsongs represent a young artist who loves music and wants to make it big. She leaves home and makes it big. Then she soon finds out she is losing control, she begins to feel like a marionette as the industry puppeteers start to control her.
Then she tries to get off the carousel, but it's too late -- she is now owned by the music industry puppeteers.
______
The Swedish music puppeteers tried to bury them, then the American and British pop/rock music industry tried as well.... But ABBA went around them. Outsmarted them: Eurovision Song Contest (Waterloo) and their low budget music clips sent to TV stations around the world. BOOM!
ABBA did an end around the corporate music industry puppeteers.
They published and recorded on their home label. Produced everything themselves. They maintained control of their creativity.
They never sold out to the corporate music world.
They were a very unique band.
@@danbike9 How many people could find that sort of thing out back then? Hindsight is a dangerous thing, even more so when people whose parents' were not even around at the time can search things on the net now.

It makes me realize just how fast the years go by. Doesn't seem possible.
Wish I got to experience those days instead of this horrible era humanity is currently in
It was a cold war between USA versus USSR.
Now, it is trade war between USA versus PRC. Will there be better music?
There was a joy to their lyrics. Not a more innocent time, but perhaps one where people lived more *in* the world.
Just dive deep into the different scenes. So many great bands have done stuff on their own. The music industry (record labels) have lost it's way, and think they can still dictate what you like. I sah fuck the labels, and go for self made bands.

@@gorgewashington1216 ?
thats made my day, in life truly you cant make a joke about ABBA as they are are their own musical cateory and noone will be able to compete. I also love Rik and this is the first time i've seen this video. Talent shines.
ABBA was...
a) Like nothing else.
b) A totally unique sound
c) A totally unique act
d) A force of nature.

I was born in 1989 I use to listen to ABBA with my grandmother she passed away when I was 13 so everytime I hear a ABBA song I think of my grandmother
That’s really sweet. I feel sorry for your loss
I'm an old guy so when I tell you that your grandmother(s) will lie on in your memories, you can believe it.
❤
Nice,, you are blessed xxx
RIP ur grandmother. Hope you are ok.
Thanks ABBA for this Wonderful Share
Merci from France 🙏🌈🌟🌙🌄🔥🌍
I forgot when I 1st saw this Video, but it was quite awhile ago. So Very Happy to have Accidentally discovered it again! Wonderful!! ❤❤❤❤👍
2:35 Frida and Agnetha peeking in the window.
I loved that!
at 01:52 Björn appears with the papers, and at 03:08 Benny appeas too
I know right. That was stunning. Nice dye job by the girls too
The girls we're really there, they were "superimposed" into the shot!
betty boo was too much to handle
I don't know weather to be scared or giggle at the fact everyone speaks in abba lyrics
You mean WHETHER?! lol
I want to live there hahah
it’s amazing
Very funny and smart. Many Kisses from France for the four ABBA's members❤❤❤❤❤
Rik Mayall is so good in this. He is to comedic acting as ABBA is to music. I love this video so much.
Thank you for all the music and memories ABBA! (You will live forever!)
I'm 60. I lived through the disco era. Abba was different... and alluring. I never set foot in a disco. Never used drugs. Couldn't afford alcohol. Am straight. And here I am, finding this absolutely hilarious, and catching all the "inside jokes". Superb!
I mean this also has Rick Mayall so...
I don't consider their music as Disco theey were in the Disco era but their music is Pop and their melodies are far better than Disco songs that's why their music is still appreciated today, the lonely thing really dated and old fashion were their videos and costumes
You’re okay boomer 💕💘
@IROKLIFE ok boomer
@IROKLIFE You talk a lot of shit for someone who uses ROFL in 2019.
Absolutely brilliant!!
LOVE IT EVERY TIME I WATCH IT!!!!NL,CANADA
Rick from The Young Ones, Iron Maiden's Eddie, Cher and Abba puppets!? How can you NOT like this!!
You missed Percy from from Blackadder. Shame on you. ;-)
Ribbitgoesthedog Lastnamehereyeah Where? Cant see him and not listed here:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0415473/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast
I think they are spitting image puppets
I think the man who presented the ABBA puppets might have been VIVIAN from the young ones.
@@generalzod8589 From what I looked up "Vyvyan" was played by Ade Edmondson. The guy in the video presenting the puppet versions of Abba is Loa Falkman.
someone: wait, so where are the puppets now?
me: in my nightmares.
Hahah, this is so true 😂😂
I giggled every time when I saw this comment
Well, how I know they're in the ABBA-museum.
By replicas and put under your bed so you have something to relate to.
Or share the dreams by buying replicas and put them under someone elses bed and when they go to sleep you go to the room belove and scratch the roof who is situated right under the bed,
I guess that will do it.
@@anderspersson7084 You are so twisted, I love it🤣! It's a great idea, makes me want to order those 4 puppets immediately!👍
we who are alive it is an honor to hear from Abba...music.
The first time I heard ABBA songs was back in 1974. And until now I haven't heard anyone better. I remember the movie "ABBA" ...Thank you for remembering them...
The ending with the real members, feel so sad and nostalgic.... I wanna cry.
were them cgi ??
@@UtupaClone Nope. They were real. Just added into the scene with green screen from their own movie to fit the Puppet Master
You are not the only one.....
I won't lie, I had to pick a tear away there. When the puppets say "Good luck" like contestants on a modern-day song contest it really brought home just how special this group was. Bring it on Blah-Blah's Got Talent, Idols, The Voice . . . . They were magic and will always be in my top 3 groups of all time! Damn, would you look at that; it's way past this kid from 1974's bed time. "Friday night and the lights are low . . . . mmmm, mmmm, mmm . . . . ".
Their cameos appeared throughout the video as background characters. Rewatch it to see them! :)
My morning routine is listening to Dancing Queen before I go to work because it gives me unlimited power
Alys Pardeé SAME
dmn. same! 😂
UNLIMITED POWERRRRRR!!!!!!!
Brilliant...!
Trivia: One of thier least known international gigs was visiting & entertaining Swedens UN military contingent in Cyprus. God bless them. Really sweet presentation here.
This this madd me cry! To beutyful! No words! I want another movie with the abba songs! Abba meand air and without air you just CAN'T live...😭 Mamma mia! How incredible can some persons be!
Sarah's Life yeah i cried too,a lot. i wasn't even born when they were a band, not even when they broke up,but they are totally in my heart
Sharing tears friend.
Why so late getting into everyone's recommended?! 5 years after the post!!!
